I'm building and about to mold a home made clay consisting of trenches, sandbags, and some various craters what would you say is the best way to achieve a good enough trench design for my warhammer40k army.(i don't have a particular army but i do favor the orks and now most of all the Death Korps.) Any tips on casting/molding both trenches and sandbags?????
I'm sorry but I'm not doing any tutorial posts at this time. Best advice to is think ahead for needed sizes and experiment with a few techniques before committing to the final project.
This is an ongoing custom project. Custom work can be reproduced and you should visit TerranScapes' Custom Work Gallery to see this project as well as others. There is contact information there as well if you would like to contract for similar work.
Looks really nice. With a little thought on the polarisation, you could put magnets in the sides of the trenches (that sit against each other) so that they hold more firmly.
That is a really interesting idea. I have been using rare earth magnets for all my miniatures and I could see using them to hold the trench sides together easily. The trick would be just making sure they are placed properly as the magnets could easily pull the pieces out of alignment if they are not exactly centered. Sheet magnets would eliminate that and might have enough pull to still help. Hmmm.... :)
Coming from a 40k player who loves trenches and barb wire (just check the name). I really really liked this set, very well done. The barb-wire on the post was very authentic looking and awesome.
Thank you for your comment on the bags. One thing to keep in mind is that you can always request modifications such as color when ordering from TerranScapes.
This set, finished as shown, is $330. You can visit TerranScapes website to see other custom work projects as well as the trench sets sold separately.

WOW! this is awesome, it really gives the idea of a muddy field and the opposed trenches need at least two thumbs up ^_^
I would have gone just with a darker colour for sandbags, but maybe it's just bright light reflecting ^_^
