I do actually happen to agree that Tony Christie sings it better. Jarvis voice is weak and I am sure he will admit it. I love Pulp and think Jarvis is one of the speakers for my generation and a cracking songwriter. But Tony sings this better in my view, as the song was written for him!

I think theres a couple of things a lot of ppl seem to be missing about this performance. 1. Its top of the pops, usually these perfoamnces are mimed but as tony christie ain't with them they had to find a singer that could pull the song off like him and so this is probably the only live top of the pops performance ever. 2. Jarvis sings in his own style which has always been close to spoken word, I think he has done a very good job on a song that doesn't exactly suit him.
