sister almost married juniors ex son inlaw and i ran around with his daughter quite a bit ive been a fan of his ever since ...one of the better guitarist out there in my opinion
Faster isn't always better. Malmsteen plays faster than just about anyone, but it's just not that pleasing to the ear. Stevie didn't improve so much as embellish on what Albert and Jimi and others had done and made it his own. Sooner or later somebody will come along and make their sound his (or hers) and they will become the next "best thing". Jr ranks high on the guitar ladder and have you heard Johnny Hiland? He is the real deal too.
I would love to see his fretting on this song so I could at least try to get a start onlearning it! would love to be able to play better but hav a bum left hand..will still try!
Everybody knows that Junior Brown covers lots of songs from blues, rock, surf, country, ... and does a hell a job on all of them in his on way and style.
Every player has taken something from sombody else and developed his own style from that. Even Robert Johnson learned from other guitar players. The one that has been the most different has been Stevie. His tone, tuning and heavy strings game him a sound that while like Albert's, was all Stevie. Not that others aren't great too, but to me his sound sticks out from the others.
First, I think you wanted to say he "ripped" it off. Secondly, if you listen to the blues enough, you'd realize many songs share similar riffs, rhythms, and structure, otherwise they wouldn't be the blues.
One hell of a voice and a great blues singer.....love this song

that part with "sugar in the gas tank, sugar in the oil pan, sugar in the tailpipe" is kinda like in Sugartime by the late Mr. Cash. :D

This guy does Hendrix style guitar better than anyone with the exception of Hendrix himself.

I have to disagree. Stevie Ray took Hendrix's style and improved upon it.
