Well, it actually doesn't matter what it's called as long as the student understands the concept and is able to use it to their benefit. @angelettidrummer and MrJohnnyNitro. Your assumption is that I have never taught or taken a lesson in my life? I took 3 years of lessons with Mr. Morello, and they're called FULL STROKES. Maybe someone should ask Mr. Riley.
We had John as a Clinician at my University in Germany. I got to pick him up from the Hotel in Cologne and we got to talk for almost an hour... Really humble, down to earth Guy with a great Sense of Humor and amazing Skills as a Teacher! This was almost 7 Years ago and I still vividly remember it!
@ virtualskitz....he was explaining FREESTROKES,not FULLSTROKES. I know the difference thanks. I have been a drum teacher since 1996 and have studied with Joe.
i was at first dissapointed Joe Morello was not able to make it,but when I heard John Riley was in his place, I was excited. He does a great job and is a nice guy and great player.
I was there. john filled in last minute for Joe Morello and did a great job. Got to speak with him after his workshop. Looking forward to CT Drum Show 2011 !!
oh man, these videos are great! Thanks alot, been studying the the full stroke etc concept for a while and this is a new chapter. John Riley is great, cracks me up. Thanks again!

yes this was recorded on a Flip.at a distance they record sound well. They don't work so well with a full band as the mic has no level control.

good sound man. Is this going from Flip camera as well?
