  • If he has no vocal cords, how's he speaking? Did you mean it was paralyzed and that he needed the trach? I'm blind, can't see the visual portion, but what I hear is a breathy almost-voice from him that isn't very clear, but it is there.

    I hope he's doing well.

  • @LostJedi26 No. He was actually born with no vocal cords. At about 2 years old he had his trachia built with his rib. Before this procedure he was on a vent. If the vent fell off his neck he would pass out . After the surgery she said she cut into some deformed meat type substance and it appeared there was half of a paralyzed vocal cord. My son is very smart. He's deaf. Once he got his bone conductor aids he started making sound. The first time he said Mom was the best in my life.

  • @LostJedi26 He's actually taught himself to speak like that. No he really doen't have a voice box or vocal cords. He's doing SO great. His Dr's are always amazed. He has the spirit that can not be broken. Thank you for your comment.

  • he's very cute! my sister sounded the same way when she was 3 until she was about 5 - among other things she has TEF and a paralyzed vocal cord. they also said she would never be able to talk - HA! now she's 11 and can speak clearly with the t-vent and sounds 'normal' with Passy-Muir. God is Good! Good Luck to you two!

  • He's so adoreable =)
