First season was absolutely great; second season they cut production corners, the scripts were lousy and Neville Brand took a hike. Result: cancelled.
@corsario162 Tenho 40 anos.
@walleyrt69 That's true Walley. But anybody with any sense can see that this country is coming apart at the seams thanks to the left wing politically correct weasels who control modern day Hollywood, the news media (other than Fox News), and worst of all the academic hierarchy which is poisoning the minds of young Americans. As for that nitwit who accused you of elitism, the elitists nowadays are the communist scum in Washington, not true Americans who see what's going on.
@ridgerunner721601 Man-your a guy after my own Heart.Where is this club for people like us?We need a Rally.Could they be the "TEA PARTY!"----IM THERE!!!!
@walleyrt69 LOL....You and me both Walley. I will definitely be making it a point to go vote against the Commiecrats and the RINOs in November. These Hollywood libtards all hate the Tea Party. As far as I'm concerned scumbags like Michael Moore, Sean Penn, Danny Glover and the rest of them can kiss my rear end.
RIP Philip Carey, I loved this show, I was just a kid when it was on TV, & I still love it, I am a big fan of all the stars but my favs are William Smith & Peter Brown
A website says the series was originally on from 1965-67. I can't remember if the repeats reaired very often after that... but they must have because seems a lot of those images are ingrained somewhere in my memory. Has to be 30+ years since I'd seen it. Thanks.
One of my all time favorite westerns! I saw Robert Wolders(Ranger Erik Hunter on the second season of Laredo)at a restaurant once, never spoke to him thpugh.
Loved this show as well. I met Peter at Tweetsie Railroad in NC when I was about 14. Wow!! He even sat beside me on the train ride!Talking about being star-struck! I was speechless! Won't ever forget how nice he was to me.
Great post, MacGrurry! Fun story! When you look at Peter Browns career in its entirety, its pretty remarkable. Besides the 2 Western series Lawman and Laredo, hes done Disney films, beach movies, Ann-Margret movies (kinda their own category), motorcycle movies, blaxploitation movies, TV soap operas and non-stop TV guest spots in between. Amazing! I believe he even posed for Playgirl during their heyday.
@starringJayMcK It would have been funny if they had gotten Neville Brand to pose for that magazine......LOL. I was a kid when Laredo used to come on NBC on Friday nights and when we kids in the neighborhood would play cowboys and indians everybody wanted to be either one of the other guys on Laredo or somebody from Bonanza or Gunsmoke. I always wanted to be Reese. He seemed like the toughest one of the Rangers.
LOL. I’m sure there are plenty of people who would have liked to see Neville Brand in Playgirl rather than Peter Brown. Especially after Neville’s book came out, 101 Things That You Can Do In A Western Saddle…..I liked Chapter 5, The Real Story of How Beef Jerky Gots Its Name…!
@starringJayMcK I was just joking around. I've never had any desire to look at a Playgirl magazine.....LOL. But I didn't even know Neville Brand had ever written a book. Was it pretty good? If so I'll have to look into buying it off Amazon or somewhere else online.
i was a waiter in a deli in 1999 or so when Peter came in and sat in my section. i had been watching the show for a year or so in reruns from a chicago or New York channel, when he placed his order he asked me for something to drink. i said "well anything for a Ranger" and he took a beat and smiled and pointed a finger gun at me and said "Hey"
Lucky you! I would love to meet Peter some day. This was my favorite Western and loved all the characters, especially Peter. I wish there was a new Laredo, there are certainly making movies out of a lot of old shows.

This show was the bomb. Loved watching Reese getting into trouble with Capt. Parmalee. Wish this lasted longer on TV.
