i think almost every performance that i've come across including von karjan and others take the vocal part of the 4th movement way to fast. it's supposed to be allegro assai vivace. alla marcia not a continuation of the presto from the beginning of the movement. marcia - march. no one can march at that tempo. i've read that this is a point of some contention. my 2 cents. the only recording that i think is faithful to beethoven is with Roger Norrington with the London Classical Players.
