I mean, my mom is best friends with her boss and all her coworkers (they're all REALLY nice) and my dad is good friends with his boss and his coworkers (they often all go to lunch together or go to the gym together). xD do I just have an unrealistic view of bosses, are are most bosses nice like my parents' bosses?

2. your writing pattern indicates almost a sense of jealousy-- and there's no need for that. :D I'm sure lots of people have great bosses, but I wanted to know if there really were bad bosses like this in rl. I mean, I've never SEEN a bad boss before, and one would assume if someone's boss were a jerk then that boss would either lose business or be fired by their superiors.

@Aaron2071 yes people really sometimes do have bosses like this, My mother has a boss that micro-manages everything (ex. Lets say he asks you to shred a paper...you shred the paper...he will get mad at you for not putting it in the "right" way, and putting it in the "wrong" shredder)

In my experience (and I work and attend a graduate school, which means that I have many bosses (employer and professors) to appease), the best strategy is to adopt a very professional and DISTANCED demeanor. Your bosses are NOT your friends. They may behave as if they are, but I assure you, your every mistake, every late arrival or absence is duly noted and WILL be used against you.
