I heard that! The funny part is that if you were a business like Essence Magazine or Ebony or Vibe they wouldn't walk in and say hey can I get free ad space. They would pay out of pocket for what they get. So if they would do that for a business like that then why can't they do that for a business like yours. I find that its happens mostly with people you know. But even then, like I said if you would pay it out to any other business why wouldn't you pay it out to me or at least barter.

You are just doing what any good up and coming business person would do. Brothas and sistas need to respect our businesses the way we respect the "others". And your FB wall would look mad crazy with everybody trying to advertise their product on it just because you have thousands of followers, ppl trying to take advantage of your large market. That wouldn't be fair to you.
And like you said, ppl trust your judgment. You wouldn't want us thinking you endorse a product without you having reviewed it first at least.

Jia, there will always be incumbents and assholes in this world of business, because they would rather stick their hands out then learn the complexities of the business world and how to adapt to the shifts of the market. This is why you should NEVER take it personal, because it doesn't seem too professional. To show that you're bothered by it gives you a negative image to prospective business associates.

Some folks see your success and figure you have it to give without considering the sacrifice and the cost that you are paying (and they aren't).

Some type of exchange is the only way to even get near what you want if you can't just out right afford it.
