  • oh god, Jia, I love you. Your passion about your work ethic is a turn on. If I could clone you.

  • well said... crazy how people want to make money but they dont want to spend any of their own

  • I have been up looking for your Response on Black Women's Attitude... I wish I could have seen it, I have heard great things about it. Keep keeping It Real! You go gurl!

  • I have been up looking for your Response on "Black Women's Attitude..." I wish I could have seen it, I have heard great things about it. Keep keeping It Real! You go gurl!

  • I heard that! The funny part is that if you were a business like Essence Magazine or Ebony or Vibe they wouldn't walk in and say hey can I get free ad space. They would pay out of pocket for what they get. So if they would do that for a business like that then why can't they do that for a business like yours. I find that its happens mostly with people you know. But even then, like I said if you would pay it out to any other business why wouldn't you pay it out to me or at least barter.

  • I love how you always keep it 100!! Great Video!!

  • Jia just dug into someone's ass!

  • anyway since damn you tube ruined a good moment i will just end with thank you and i cant wait for you story because YOU ARE AN INSPIRATION . . YOU ARE SOOO WORTHY OF THE BEST IN LIFE as all up broken women are . . I know i have a purpose as well . . Keep pushing . . I cant wait for your story and just keep pushing sister . . I love you (dont freak out ) i am quite sure know the type of love i speak of when i say this

  • jia . . You may not even remember me but i told you this a long time ago when i left a comment about how proud i am of you . . I really am . . We dont know each other personally but I KNOW YOU because i see YOU . . I am so very proud of your journey

  • GORLLL I know i skipped a few vids here and there but i had no idea to turned that into a business lol but yeah no fucking freedbies are these ppul crazy ugh

  • Still your biggest UK fan! Please shout us out in your next vid...well me! loool xxx

  • @CYaya88 <3

  • I feel you, girl, but be careful about openly saying you hate working for someone else. You never know what could happen in the future.

People do expect way too many freebies. They don't respect the fact that this is your living! I don't ever expect people, family or friends, to give me discounts or freebies. It kills me when people expect family members and friends to give them freebies and discount. It makes no sense! Do you want the person you care about to keep their job or not?!

  • I wish that i could give this 10 thumbs up!!!!!

  • ( clap hands) Tell'em how it is Jia !!! Niggas always think " if one of us make it we ALL made it " Look where that got MC Hammer. I respect your business intellect.

  • @surzine Thanks baby!

  • So true I'm not in the business world yet still in college, but I do understand where you are coming from. I don't mind helping people with their work for class. However, don't think I will sit there and do my work, spending hours on end to do it correctly for you to just come and copy it in a few minutes. Then when I ask for an extra pen to BORROW in class it's this big deal. No sir, you have to come out some cash for my work.

  • yOU JUST SAID SOME SH!T THEN!LOLOL....WELL YOU KNOW KEEPING IT REAL IS WHAT IM ABOUT AND YOU DID JUST THAT!WHO MAD!LOL

  • Miss Jia I adore you and your sites. I can't wait til your book comes out. I just know it's going to be the bomb.com

  • Thank you so much for posting this! I am a photographer and I am constantly get the "hook up" questions. When I say no, then people look at me like I am shady. I do not work for free, and my equipment is not free. My time is not free, neither are the hours that I will spend editing. It seems that the only people who have an issue with paying is my own race.... I finally had to stop feeling bad and realize my worth.... not just as a woman but a BUSINESS OWNER. Keep up the good work Ms. Jia!

  • I fucks witcha on this vid. I'm not an entrepenuer...nor a good speller nowadays lol, but I definitely UNDERSTAND the message in this video. You are just doing what any good up and coming business person would do. Brothas and sistas need to respect our businesses the way we respect the "others". Just look at the retailers in the hood owned by us(if we're lucky). we'll give the owner a hard time about his prices but wouldn't do the same at another guy's store

  • I agree!

  • You said it in a detailed way, there are USERS in this world and online and like you said I think they can acomplish more by giving instead of USING so much

  • I feel you my sista. Your Blog is one of my fav's and I visit every day. Keep doing what you are doing. Much luv.

  • JIA, I WAS JUST WONDERING CAN I ADD A LINK ON TO MY FACEBOOK TO YOUR CHANNEL.

  • You're a champion, Jia.

  • I like your style. I get the "free riders" all the time trying to cling on after it has taken me 20 years to learn to do. but they got no capital to invest.

  • This is clearly a damn shame, Lord knows I always offer to pay my friends for business purposes|I never take anyone's time for granted, and when I'm ready to advertise maybe I will be consider for your site and we can discuss fees| Right now I'm paying for a marketing fee for my music|

  • You are such a strong woman, Jia! Girl, you have ALL of my respect! :)

  • Yesssss!!! I hope someone heard that message.....I know I did, good stuff :)

    Congratulations on Vibe !!!

  • Proud of you Jia!!

  • LMAO! "I love to eat."

    LOVE LOVE LOVE THAT! ;)

  • Love it! u are so right about everything u said...business is business...no bs! keep on rising to the top!

  • girl i can hear you speak for 2 hours!! i dont know what it is. U got that voice and umm i think they call it .. swagger. but keep doin your thing J

  • this is just the pick me up i needed. great message and great video. plus i feel you on working for someone else. I live in georgia, self explanitory "right to work" state. They can fire you for no reason......

  • That's my biggest pet peeve. Black folks need to SUPPORT each other without expecting a hookup.

  • Great Points....People always want something for nothing. I respect your hustle.

  • Hey JiJi! I've found this to be too true. Especially when you go into business for yourself. Everybody wants the hookup but nobody wants to pay or do an even exchange. I refuse to give my talents away. If I did nothing but give away freebies I'd be in a shelter somewhere.....I'm just saying.

  • @HashBrown424 Exactly. But non-business minded folks would never understand that. Rather than taking the time to understand it, they are overlooking the message with their hands out.

  • Valid points made in your commentary. We as a people should take into consideration that "back-door deals" is not business savvy and get out of the mindset of "freebies". I commend you on being a strong-minded entrepreneur who plan to keep her business growing and elevating your investment to its maximum potential.

  • I LOVE THIS JIA!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!! you are so right and I appreciate YOU!!!! More Than you will ever know.. U need anything let me KNOW!!! I owe you for all ur awesome advice!!!

  • Smart woman you are. You're where you are currently because of the decisions you've made...continue to choose wisely. Siddity...nope, having an attitude (if its warranted then tell them to eat it up), a b*tch...not at all. Thanks for the vids. May GOD continue to bless all that you set forth forth to do. Take care.

  • Your smart !!

  • I felt that 110%. One of post on FB was, Don't ask for a handout, when I offered you a hand up.

  • i'm happy for you. Smart witty and fearless!! =)

  • Jia can I just say that I watch yah videos i may not always like the topic or whatever but I like your style so to speak so I watch your videos & I must say that This has to be my favorite video of yours that I have seen or remember. It didn't even feel like an 11:00min video it just felt like I was listening to someone tell the truth & that is just what you did. I mean i understand a"helping hand" but if you let them that hand will help you right into a poor house. DO YOU!

    MUCH LUV

    *Soku

  • My boyfriend is in the same business; he doesn't give freebies.

  • I agree.

  • Same thing I told him on his video. What you do for one, you would have to do for all. And your FB wall would look mad crazy with everybody trying to advertise their product on it just because you have thousands of followers, ppl trying to take advantage of your large market. That wouldn't be fair to you.

And like you said, ppl trust your judgment. You wouldn't want us thinking you endorse a product without you having reviewed it first at least.

  • @LAJCain Thanks. And exactly.

  • Great video, well said!! And I'm really looking forward to your book.

  • INTELLIGENT SISTA

  • Respect due. Well stated - and understood. Thanks for the vid - and for making the time to actually reply to your viewers. Been hooked on JiaJuice for over four years now.

  • @Time2AnteUp :o)

  • sad part is this video is mostly for our fellow brothers and sisters who want hand outs..I have recently started a business and its night and day dealing with blacks and other ppl...

  • @nbabound254 and that's sad as hell. Very.

  • well said and true dat! = )

    get it girl!

  • ooh girl i love you !

i agree with you 100% because i hate when bitches don't agree with me. shut the fuck up and nod your head like you understand what the fuck i'm bitching about, please.

  • she is just passionate about what she is doing that i love that energy thats why i f*cks with missjia.com

  • I thought everything you where trying to put across in the video got to it's destination. I'm actually tryin to start my own website/buissness/whatever else and I think that I learned a little something in your vid. Well said.

    PEACE!!!

  • Grinding at its best

I've gained major respect for you

  • I have been following you for years. Very proud of you and your business. Would you mind telling me what sales books you purchased and if they've helped you? I've developed a product and we are ready to take it to market! But, I don't have a good handle on the sales portion. Any information you have would be most helpful. Thank you.

  • @peoplewinks Honestly? The books that I read were from the ".....for dummies" series. Sales for Dummies. Marketing for Dummies. Etc.

  • shit, I'm tryna get a green tint in my next vidjo, shit was workin for your guh!

  • I love this girl!! no bullshit, no cutting corners, no talking out the side of your neck, just straight real talk ....love it

  • PREACH! U make me wanna get up and make some money! lmao

  • Miss Jia, you put a LOT of energy into making your point, it can be seen all thru your video. Why did you let them get you so upset? Your Blood Pressure was going.

  • @faith11629 So you equate my speaking firmly as being "upset?" I apologize that I intimidate you that much.

  • Jia, there will always be incumbents and assholes in this world of business, because they would rather stick their hands out then learn the complexities of the business world and how to adapt to the shifts of the market. This is why you should NEVER take it personal, because it doesn't seem too professional. To show that you're bothered by it gives you a negative image to prospective business associates.

  • @robib2 And that's fine. My goal is not to appeal to anyone who gets uptight about me expressing my opinion and being as loud and clear about it as I want to be. I've built my brand around being opinionated and speaking my mind. I'm not going to build my business around what I think people want rather than what I am. But thanks for your input.

  • @JiaTV holla

  • you dont want to apply for partner on youtube? that is the same thing they pay you to put ads up

  • @astrozier1 I am partner.

  • I FULLY UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING YOU ARE SAYING 100% I FOR 1 RT YOU BECUZ I ENJOY YOUR BLOG AND YOUR OPINIONS! I THINK MISSJIA IS SAYING SHE STARTED HER OWN AND SHE'S DOING WHAT ANYBODY WHO WORKS HARD AND STAYS FOCUS CAN! IF SHE CAN YOU CAN! <3 IF YOU REALLY LISTEN SHE'S TEACHING US SOMETHING

  • straight with no chaser! thats a real business woman right there!

  • calm down... Jia keep doing your thing mama but i understand your issue i really admire your drive

  • You shouldn't have had to explain yourself. Just for you having to explain yourself SAD! "Write a book" haha girl I could go on and on about that "book"

  • Shiiiit, game is to be SOLD not told.

  • I enjoyed this video! JiaI dont know the first thing about business but I do know that I admire how you work hard to support yourself and you hold value in what you established in this wole blog business. I pray that one day I can be as business savvy, industrious, and self sufficient as you are!!

  • Chuuuurch!

  • Let them know Jia ,i love your videos.

  • I couldn't agree more. You're much better than I. I've gotten to the point where I can't even work with black folks, not so much because everyone wants a hand me out but because they seem to be unable to set the same standards for everyone involved in the business.

  • I couldn't agree more. You're much better than I. I've gotten to the point where I can't even work with black folks, not so much because everyone wants a hand me out but because they seem to set the same standards for everyone involved.

  • Well said Jia.

  • You're amazing Jia. Though you owe no one an explanation, I admire the fact that you took the time to break it down for these scatterbrains. Nothing in life is free. I respect your hustle. Keep on keeping on and keep on inspiring.

  • Aww Jia, I love your honesty & the fact that you keep your supporters & readers in the loop. Forget those who aren't even on your level.

  • The only thing free in this world is SALVATION!!!!!!! That's what my husband had to tell a few of his clients. He's a Photographer(not trying to advertise...lol) and he always get the, can we do a TFCD(time for cd)? He'll maybe do it once to build is portfolio, but don't ask twice.

  • ooooooooo thank you lol I was just doing my homework for my business class and I had to think of different advertisement ports :-)

  • you are so right why do people always think they can get something for free i really liked this video it spoke to me i have the same issuse they always want something for free

  • p.s. i LOVE how you went off at the end!

"and i'll also be a bitch that can answer this phone right now because the shit is on!"

    wonderful!!!

  • people wanna make use of all of you're hard work without putting up the same effort. keep right on truckin. let no man try to tear down the house that Miss Jia built.

  • I LOVE YOU GIRL......TELL THEM FREE LOADERS!!!!!!!!

  • Whooosa, MJia, whooosaa!

My parents owned a business and I was always incredulous at the number of folks who would roll in expecting a discount for being alive or a special deal just 'cause they were....them. My father would ask them, "Do you ask for this sort of discount at Walmart? Well you won't get it here either."

Some folks see your success and figure you have it to give without considering the sacrifice and the cost that you are paying (and they aren't).

  • Well thought out and well said young lady. Bravo!

  • So true! Everybody want something for nothing! Or free! It's the world we live in. It's so sad that at the time when we should up hold a dream, we become haters and crabs? Stay focus miss jia! I know it's a mind blower just reflect on you, where you came from, where you are and where you want to be! And your answer are always in front of you!

  • Thats the most common thing that people try to pull in business. Then they get mad when you say no,like u r supposed to do something for nothing.

  • i feel you 100% jia.

  • I see you laying down the knowledge that people fail to realize is normal business practice

  • PREACH!!! Amen to everything you've said.

  • Yesss Miss Jia! Teach Me Girl!

  • Its been a long time girl... I havent followed your twitter so I didnt know something happened. You know how to handle yourself well.. keep doing you :D no need for explanations :D

  • Breathe in , n then breathe out, you out ta know it ain't gone be all pretty and flowers, you just keep your business savvy and whoever doesn't have one will learn that eventually....

  • Anyone who expects you or anybody in this world to hand them anything free isn't that smart in business & need to go back to college and learn the basics.

  • @bitchimastartv There are people who comprehend the complexities of business and business marketing without a college degree.

  • Miss Jia, I don't who the busters are that you are talking about but it sounds to me like they aren't worth the effort...anyway!

You've been doing you, the only way you do, straight from the gate...living, loving, learning AND teaching...along the way!

If there are busters in your midst that can't appreciate that enough to KNOW...fair exchange ain't a robbery...brush them off and keep it moving!

OT: All I can see of your title says: Business 101: Get You a Piece

    LOL! *pats holster* ;-)

  • I will support u as afan

  • Dear Jia Hargitay,

    <3

  • YAAAAZZZ!!!! TELL IT JIA!!!...so clearly 5 people slipped nd clicked the dislike button lol

  • you better preach to these people, this is the miss jia i love!!!!

  • smart networkin strategies, jia! i'm still trying to get where i need to be cuz i wanna be self-employed one day. time for plan B!

  • Hi Goddess, I've really enjoyed listening to your videos. You're a great role model for people especially for the way you face the world without unease, not to mention extremely smart with a sharp sense of humour. :)

  • You are a great person at heart.

  • JIa You are on top of your Business. I respect your views!

  • Also, we've all had that experience where we go to a site trying to read comments or view photos and those damn spammers/freebie advertisers are all in the way promoting their ish that nobody wants! I hate that!!!

  • That dude was straight up wrong for coming at you like that. Even after you gave him the ABC's of how you run YOUR business...he still didn't get it and never will. How is he mad bc you don't want him posting on your page?? What's so hard about him creating his own page and doing all the self promotion his little heart desires?? As you get more successful...you will have to deal with ppl worse than him. If I were you, I wouldn't even say anything in the future. I'd just delete ppl. LOL

  • Hmm.....very interestin' video....

  • Bless up Goddess! I definitely can relate 2 ur story! Stay on the Rize! Peace...Respect...Love!!! Huuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh =)

  • Tell em!!

  • you tell'em girl

  • You know what Miss Jia? Those who matter see your struggle and recognize your greatness. Full stop. In all your videos (and I think I've seen them all) you are always very open and helpful to your subscribers. I've never inquired about advertising or anything like that, but it seems like common sense that it is in very poor taste to try to sneak an ad in on Facebook, Twitter, YT, or anywhere else. Sneaky and trfiling. I can't STAND a user. Ugh...

  • @bellakkiyn agreed. And thank u for the comment!

  • Way to tell his ole big headed, freebie chasin, ole stuttering ass.

  • @shiona25 You aint SH*T for that comment LMAOOOO

  • Thank you Jia for this video! Consider this my freebie! I learn alot from this video! You go Miss J!

  • @Luckey2007 lmao!! Thanks boobie! PS I got your vid response. It should be attached to the vid you requested. Lemme know and thanks for submitting one!

  • *flips your bang*

  • Am I the only one that noticed the butt enhancement advertisement on her site?I know random.lol. Anyway keep up the good work Jia!:))

  • @crazydestiny17 lol and they paid for it :O)

  • Chile please you better snatch these kid's wigs Miss Jia!!!

  • ...love it!!...

  • I see you Ma!....If a man doesnt work then a man doesnt eat! point. blank. period. Yes helping out does not Always mean hooking up or Free...Most people need to learn the saying, "I need a hand up not a hand out"! Even swap aint no swindle. Get yours and well said.

  • Can I just say that I needed this, this morning? I've been wading in the shallow end of the pool thinking/feeling that I should be creating something; but I haven't a clue what it should be. I really didn't ask for you to get in my face and bring the hammer down with your words, but I'll take it, lol. Oh, and know that if you were a man people wouldn't have this "something for nothing" type of attitude. QUIB PRO QUO ALL DAY SON!!!

  • I don't see anything wrong with the barter system.

  • @BigDaleT I don't either....if it's a fair barter. And I clearly said that in the video. How far into it did you listen?

  • *clap, clap, clap, clap, clap* Standing ovation! Gurl, I felt like collecting an offering because you PREACHED this thing. I know first hand.

  • Girl you are the truth! When I contacted you for advice you got right back to me with good advice on advertising on my blog and I really appreciate that. This video is on point!

  • @tawkel Oh no problem. But you let THIS one tell it, I don't help anybody. Hmm....

  • I respect the fact that if people ask you about blogging you actully answer them. I ask some blog web masters about how too start a blog and they dont even reply or they patronise you becuase they have a certain amout of popularity... Nothing is for Nothing

  • @VenessaVB I try to do my best. Email me if you have questions.

  • You are in inspiration to all women who want to make something of themselves. Much respect xx

  • Amen! Hand-outs and hook-ups are quick roads to failure, especially for black businesses. You know YOUR value and should rightfully so - expect nothing less!

  • And Jia, this is why I think you are the s**t! Love the real world honesty. Keep doing you and I love linking some of your post to my Facebook page ;-)

  • For as long as i've followed you on yt i've always heard you talk about these people who come to you asking for you to basically "pimp them out" for absolutely nothing! like WHAT?! LMAO

I've always been like "These ppl are real?!?!?!?!"

*insert Y U NO GUY here*

    Happy November :O

  • @JCWATL Thanks, same to you!

  • OMG I LOVE YOU FOR THIS!!! Everything you said is common sense to me, and like you said, it's not to everyone, lol. Some type of exchange is the only way to even get near what you want if you can't just out right afford it. It's a lot of work to get far in any business, but ESPECIALLY in the entertainment business. Anyone can blog, but there's A LOT of stuff you do for your fans that they wouldn't even know of. Like you said, you wouldn't be doing all of this for free! It takes up a lot of time!

  • snap, someone got told. I hear ya, i am an artist and you would be surprised how many times the church and freeloaders want me to do something for nothing. they say "it's advertisment by putting your stuff out there" bull shit.

  • I know thats right, in my international business cultural protocal class that is the definition of negotiation. Meeting half way for both parties are satisfied. It dont have to be money, but something that they want, but they didnt expect. READ THEM JIA

    HAUS OF JIA

  • omg this is the same thing candy and skittles said!! I agree with you black business need to get it together

  • TRILL TALK!!!!!!!

  • I hear ya sista! I agree with everything you just said! Proud of you! Thank u for posting this!

  • this is why i respect you

  • "It felt good to see your face in my subscriptions"! @mys08kesh I agree all the way. Jia u've been more than a friend to me but also a motivator :) damn this is a down to the bone real talk vid right here! I was screamin at the computer screen like"Preach"!

  • Because people have zero respect for anyone other than themselves OR the people that have already made it really big. Now THEM they respect...the untouchables that have made some money and have adapted that "attitude" that they are HUGE and every one else is nobody.

One thing that really surprises me are how many people are trying to become "Stars" out there with nothing to say, can't sing in tune, are nothing to look at, no personality, and not ONE friend with enough guts to tell them the truth
