The usage and all the options of the shutdown command can be viewed by entering 'shutdown /?' in command prompt (Start -> Run -> cmd). Alternatively, I wonder how much is this different from simply pressing the power button to do the shutdown.

Do note that if you have any programs running when using that to turn your computer off, nothing will get saved.
