Heck, when I was in high school I applied for a yearlong program in Japan (didn't make the final cut) and a yearlong program in the USSR. Yes, the USSR. Was soon after German reunification. Should have tried harder for that one. Could have been there when the USSR ceased to exist. Would have been a fun party.
FYI, Kokeshi Doll broke up as of May 20th. I heard from the grapevine that the drummer blew out her knee. Could have been YouTube user chibile who told me, although I don't remember exactly.
Oh and Okinawa's Bleach a.k.a. Bleach03 broke up a month or two ago, leaving Tokyo live houses scrambling to fill time slots.
Speaking of which, a band by the name of Oh My God You've Gone is on the bill tonight at Sangenjaya Heaven's Door. Bleach a.k.a. Bleach03 was supposed to play, but Electric Eel Shock are taking their place.
i use to live up the street across the tracks of osekii's i miss it there so bad, the ppl are super cool and super nice and you can find almost anything used or new in shimokitezawa. Very good video and thx for the memories lol
Although I'll probably rarely go to tokyo, it was a great video. I enjoyed seeing the little tour. When I first went to japan and realized there was no "real" way of finding your way around (like street names), I was quite scared. But I guess it comes with time and landmarks. How was the show?
The show? Fuckin' mind-blowing is the best way I can think of to describe it. Try searching YouTube for "Tsushimamire" and "Kokeshi Doll" if you're interested in looking them up. Tsushimamire have a US tour from the beginning of September to the beginning of October too.
No street names, but once you get the hang of the coordinate system it's okay. :-)
