Tbh, I think that people who say that gay just means and that people shouldn't take offence aren't thinking too clearly about it. When I was a kid, people around here used CP (as in cerebral palsy) as a euphemism for stupid. These days the "in" word is gay. Both have the same problem, cos while you might say that Homosexual = gay is different from gay = stupid/bad, people subconsciously make the connection of homosexual = stupid/bad. Does it really matter how we use the word? Meanings change. Is anyone who says "that's so gay." really talking about homosexuality? No, they just mean that it's stupid. Besides, I know HOMOSEXUALS that say "That's so gay." and I say it in front of them. No one really cares, and people need to stop over-reacting over something that is really a small issue.

Every one of those programs insults groups of people and specific people, and/or accuses them of unethical/illegal behavior. They are all still on the air. Freedom of speech extends to "insults." If it didn't, it would be a worthless freedom.
And saying "that's gay" has nothing to do with slander. You need to consult a dictionary. "Slander" does not mean "things I don't like."

Tbh, I think that people who say that gay just means and that people shouldn't take offence aren't thinking too clearly about it. When I was a kid, people around here used CP (as in cerebral palsy) as a euphemism for stupid. These days the "in" word is gay. Both have the same problem, cos while you might say that Homosexual = gay is different from gay = stupid/bad, people subconsciously make the connection of homosexual = stupid/bad. So yes, I say you should think twice about what you're saying.

I think the saddest thing is that money was actually wasted to create these commercials. You actually spend thousands of dollars trying to create something to keep people from "saying bad words" when you could have spent it on, oh I don't know, Cancer and AIDS research. its not like the people that are offended are going to ever win. if you think about it there are really only two ways to get offended 1) if someone tries to offend you , or 2) they don't try to offend you. if someone tries to offend you and you get offended then you are giving them what they want. if they are not trying then your getting offended by someone being careless that doesn't mean any harm. getting offended can only make a situation bad. not saying it's ok but it will never go away.
