Thanks all for the comments! To answer a few questions: the model is the Ibanez RG550MXDY or RG20th for short. It is the 20th anniversary model of the 1987 RG550. The microphone was the built in mic on the digital camera I used, which was also horrible. The amp was Peavey JSX through an Avatar cab. Loved it but I sold it to buy a Mesa Electra-Dyne which was a lot better, but that too I also sold to travel to Europe. As for the differences in the solo, this is just my interpretation. Thanks!

@HitaroX That doesn't make any sense. They're absolutely different guitars, best thing to do is TRY a good mid range ibanez, preferably this one, not buy one!

He's a beginner whether he plays bass or not, and not a very versatile or compatant musician anyway, if he's not gonna play blues or country he obviously is new to music.

played an rg1550 (which is this same guitar but with the aanj heel and in the prestige line) but id have to say i think i like my '98 rg570 more. i got a red green black yellow pink and orange swirl on it with my blood in it. oh and great playing dude A+

@deathcore1239 The '98 RG570 has an AANJ too, correct? I can't remember. I have an AANJ on my '96 Ibanez S and I think that while it fits that guitar better than a block joint would, I prefer the block joint in general. Just something about the resonance you feel against your body, but then again the RG550 has a lot more wood mass than an S540. It's funny because I've always felt that the older Ibanez models were so much better than the new but this particular RG550 feels nice.

@nathan565 Thank you so much! The guitar was 1100 in total, 900 for the guitar and 200 for the pickups. Of all of my guitars it definitely sounds the best, besides maybe my strat but that's a different tone. It's funny because I have guitars that SHOULD sound better, like my Gibson SG Standard and an Agile Les Paul but because the construction on this Ibanez was done so well it just resonates better than the others. Good luck in finding one, you'll be very satisfied.

Hey quiksilverdew would you mind answering me a few questions about your pink pickups?

Did you spray them yourself? If so, did you remove them fully from the guitar before doing so? What kind of spray did you use? If you look really closely has the paint chipped away from the use of the plectrum over time? Did you paint over the metal dots (Sorry don't know the technical name for these!) on the pickups or cover them before spraying?

@TonyMistry @TonyMistry Hey thanks for your comment. I actually didn't spray them at all, I bought them with the pink pickup bobbins already installed. DiMarzio regularly does this at their factory. If you go on eBay to a few pickup sellers they will have a huge stock of these at very good prices. I recommend BanjoMikez on eBay he has helped me out with a ton of pickups and always has fast and reliable service for a good price.

I buy a can of neon spray outdoor enamel and spray em.

make sure to tape them off. try not to get paint all over the place. just the tops of the bobbins.

About the vibrato, I think you can practice from lower speed, but wilder style, that is, vibrate with larger amplitude, but slower, like those old school hardrock players did.

Yeah definitely good enough to play live with, but then again I play live with my squier strat sometimes just so I don't have to worry about it after the show. The difference would be that the next on the 550 is 2mm's thinner, has a more comfortable AND fast shape in my opinion, has a far superior tremolo, and is easy to find with a square heel, which I feel provides for a more solid tone and feel as well as making up for the thin neck a little. Yeah I have changed it to that a lot more since recording this, I just had it fast to keep with the energy of the song but now I mainly use a slow wide vibrato with a sharp close as I feel it has more emotion in it. If you want the fastest guitar out there, it's hard to beat. I'm not so into shredding anymore and I kind of like the challenge you get from playing a stock Fender or Gibson or anything of the sort so I mainly play my Strat and SG now but a nice RG550 can be had on ebay for about 400 bucks on average and I would never go without at least one in my arsenal. Though when I'm recording shred I switch between this guitar and my old '96 Japanese Ibanez S with 22 frets and a Lo-Pro.

i dont like emgs! not really versatile. i owned a set once (epi les paul zw, replaced the hz ones with an 81 and 85). i found it impossible to get reverb, nomatter what amp/effect i used. tbh ibanez stock pickups are pretty nice. i recently borrowed a js100. it sounded fantastic. they sounded heavy without over doing it. i could get the perfect van halen tone out of it

Hmmm, an awesome distortion pedal. Well, I don't really recommend getting a distortion pedal, I would recommend getting an overdrive to push the distortion that is already on your amp a little further. You could look at a Maxon OD808 which is a Tubescreamer for a better price, or a Fulltone OCD. Only do this though if you have a tube amp, if your amp is solid state and you still need a distortion pedal you should try some in store to find one that best suits your amp so you don't waste money.
