  • great video of dogs

  • i got a couple questions. what are you feeding the fish and how do the fish multiply and how how often. thanks

  • Any up dates on this set up?

  • u need an auto siphon for ur aquaponix system

  • The music is not helpful.

  • any more videos on this???

  • Your design looked really nice. Wish you had talked more about construction and not added stupid music.

  • next video film what the videos about not your dogs

  • great stuff ,,but cant watch it the camera is moving around to much its making me sick

  • heres something for those wondering about the future illegality of farming/gardening and eating/sharing the fruits of your labor. did i say future? oops... watch?v=xa3krStI6y4&feature=related

  • Nice that aquaponics systems are becoming more and more popular. Also to add to the "what dogs shouldn't eat", add chocolate to that list. ;) They can eat white chocolate, but that's only because white chocolate isn't really chocolate.

  • Point of clarification:

    1) Raisins and grapes are NOT good for dogs. I think they are using craisins (dried cranberrys) in this video. Do some research and talk to your vet. Do not feed your dog grapes or raisins. I am a raisin farmer.

    2) You can buy used IBC totes-usually 275 ga but sometimes 330 ga-on Craigslist. Some are "food grade" and some are not. I sell these totes on Craigslist. I have sold alot to aquaponics guys.

    3) Growing/consuming your own food is NOT A CRIME-at least not yet

  • @Mattthefarmer1 I have 3 labs they are all mutants! They love grapes, ate a bunch of the rasin paste, and the other Cheyenne, the yellow lab in the video ate about 1 pound of dark chocolate! She did some puking, but she is also 12 years old.

  • @chevydmax04 You didn't let her eat the chocolate right?

  • @chevydmax04 The reasons raisin and grapes are not recommended is that it has a chemical that builds up in their kidneys over time causing kidney failure; good luck with everything guys, cool setup!

  • @chevydmax04 bro iam a vet. If your dogs eat grapes it will hurt there kidneys and liver. They cannot filter the rasins that well.

  • @chevydmax04 ha ha! my dogs are mutants too! my puppy loves grapes!, and my twelve year old loves chocolate! of course i only give her a teeny weeny bite once in awhile, she'll take her time with the grapes but will eventually eat them. My puppy cant get enough of them!

  • @chevydmax04 You are harming your dogs. Same concept and smoking, or drinking bad water. It wont kill right away.

  • Yes! More doggy baby talk!!

  • grapes, grape juice, raisins are toxic to dogs.

  • You do not need an IBC you can use a swimming pool from wal mart for the fish tank and build a sturdy table from wood and get a pond liner from Lowes. I know it sound like alot of work but it realy isn't. The IBC are nice because they match when you cut it apart, But with a swimming pool you can supply more than on small plot. Ihave seen them do both ways.

  • hey chevydmax,, you have been asked many times,, where the heck did you buy the container IBC from? why do you avoid answering it? and get the damn dogs out of the video!

  • @grandmastermicochero Sorry for the delay I don't get out here much anymore. I bought the tote from a freind who works in the food service industry. And as for the dogs, they are my kids, they go everywhere and do everything with me

  • @chevydmax04 never take your dogs out of your vids!

  • @grandmastermicochero a bro u can get those at craigs list there always seling them.

  • hey chevydmax,, you have been asked many times,, where the heck did you buy the container IBC from? why do you avoid answering it?

  • these are cubic meter water containers and hold 1000 ltrs full so in a system like this you would maybe use 700 ltrs total. farm suppliers sell these and also on Ebay here in the UK you can find second hand deals but sniff first to smell if its chemical thats been in there better a 2nd hand one thats been used for water only or you can scubb and still maybe kill the fish if its still contaminated, Are you gonna you rainbow trout or tilapia? trout are really fast and crayfish also good to use

  • Its better to use black plastic containers that are light proof this cuts down on Algae growth but good system nice idea using the water cube containers and the top of it for the bed..just black is better also for the bed to stop light getting to the root system not knocking it but i build systems for a living and just giving you some ideas get an air supply into it as well but your be doing that if your going aquaponic for the fish good luck with your growing

  • were did you get the bin?

  • great system

  • Could use major editing. You could make a pretty good one- two minute video adding some explanation of what you are doing.

  • Looks great. So i can see where the question has been asked several times but I never did see an answer to "Where did you find that large reinforced plastic container?" How much does it hold? Did you buy it ? and if so how much did it cost you? Thank you very much?

  • what are you doing with the raisin goop? what purpose does that play? maybe add written captions so we know, thanks.

  • if you eat the plants and fish can you be given samonala poisoning or other diseases from the fish.

  • @wildside126 maybe those that believe that should just go eat their GMO soy/corn/alfalfa processed box foods and be happy with washing it down with fluoridated tap water. Yum Yum

  • future referance, raisins are toxic to dogs.

  • @bestestmama Not my Dogs! They eat grapes as well!

  • @chevydmax04 lol for real!! google it! lots of dogs die from it. it shuts down their kidneys!

  • @chevydmax04 just because it doesn't kill them overnight/instantly doesn't mean it won't give them premature liver cancer....but, if ignorance is bliss is your thing, congrats you're like most people! lol might be worth looking into, but that's just me...i'm just sayin

  • @chriscunanan my dog is 12 years old, if she wants to eat raisins she can eat raisins. She loves grapes and chocolate as well

  • @chevydmax04 well, do u leave ur gun cabinet open for the kids to play with too if they want? lol jesus christ, nevermind....why don't u just feed it things u know will kill it on purpose then eh? u remind me of my dad, ignorant arrogance...congratulations

  • @chevydmax04 I think whatever is toxic about grapes is 1 slow acting and 2 stronger in raisins than it is in fresh.

  • @chevydmax04 0:51 "She just loves the crazy juice, don'tcha Charlette. She's going to be throwing that up all night."

For some unknown reasons, grapes and raisins can cause renal failure in dogs. Your dogs may not be affected, but by ingesting the raisin juice, they may be damaging their kidneys without you being aware of it.

  • @bestestmama yea my dog eats grapes all the time and she loves em

  • Nice work. Where did you snag your large plastic containers?

  • that was terrible...

  • thinking about building a similar system...how much of a spike in your electric bill have you seen after running the pump and lights? thanks for posting!

  • That's a sweet power head.

  • Raisins are poison to dogs. Google it.

  • @LeoDan247 Pls feel free to elaborate though.

  • @LeoDan247 LOL =)

  • respectfully, chevydmax, you are wrong. The act tightens up regulations on selling unsafe, deadly food. You and everyone reading this will continue to be free to grow and eat as much unsafe food as you want -- you just won't be allowed to sell it on the open market. You will also be free to give it away to anyone who wants it. Furthermore, if the food that you produce from your system is safe, then you will be free to sell it.

  • @Laara12 . what it means is, eventually only corporations will be able to sell food to the public. It's called a monopoly .

  • @johnys420 No, what it means is a revolution would take place in the entire western world. We may put up with a lot of shit but telling us we cant grow food is enough to overthrow the government.

  • @Laara12

"those who give up liberty for safety deserve neither."

    Ben Franklin

  • Love the video. Fun to watch. Learned a ton. Question: the container. What are they called? If I were to do a local search for one, what "name" would I call it in a search? I have seen them before but never knew what they were called. Thanks again for the videos.

  • Sweet song

  • You need to FILL the grow bed with water and then drain it so all the media gets wet. Also put your pump on the bottom of your tank to pick up the waste. Wash off the rock before you put the final system water in.

  • Mahalo for the video. I appreciate you brother

  • what did you use for detergent to clean the tank?

  • what did you use for detergent to clean the tank?

  • The cement block you put under the pump will affect Ph. it has lime in it so it will drive Ph up.

  • "cheyene ate it all" hahaha love.

  • good video but i heard you call the craizins raisins and the 4 legged kids were getting into them. not bad cranberry is good for them but grapes and raisins will kill them just so you and others know a good friend of mine lost his friend when the trike motors shared their raisins with their puppy playmate.good job on the system.

  • What a waste - dumping the dregs. Folks if you can transform bonus fruit sugars into a wonderful Fruit Mead using juice/pulp, rinsings, with campden added to sanitize first, then just add honey and Yeast, to ferment in a sanitized container fitted with airlock.

  • @pdxjules You guy's up in Montana will do anything to get loaded won't ya???

LOL Just kiddin sounds like a good plan to me.

  • Where, how did you get the c raisin container?

  • Beware of bill S 510, the Food Safety Modernization Act of 2010! If accepted [S 510] would preclude the publics right to grow, own, trade, transport, share, feed and eat each and every food that nature makes! Your aquaponics system will become illegal!

  • @hyperkinetic So what you are saying is it would be illegal to have a garden?

  • @chevydmax04 I've read a good protion of the bill and so far it doesn't say anything about small growers/gardens. It applies to growers who sell excess produce at farmers markets and roadside stands not backyard gardens. Anyone who grows food for their own consumption are not affected much like folks that make their own alcohol, you can make it but only enough for you and your family.

  • @chevydmax04 @chevydmax04 It's about not selling food that is not inspected. If you don't want to sell food don't worry. If you want to go commercial then you comply with the law allow inspections and make money, this allows back tracking of contaminated food, to get it off the shelves quick.

Food born outbreaks cost tax payers and employers billions every year.

It’s to bad it’s come to this but it’s food safety or accept that a higher percentage of us will die.

  • @chevydmax04 Thats exactly what he is saying. Also best to be growing indoors do to the 24/7 military Chemtrail operations

  • @chevydmax04 Yes to answer that question. The bill would make the whole part of the process illegal. Therefore making farmers convicted felons. Once again taking away "Protected Rights" from you. (Least you know the "Kings language" But most people can't see beyond their noses and the media in general which has been feeding society propaganda, that will inevitably cause an up-rise amongst the "people". "Fire!" in public = panic

"It's not hard to see the truth, when it is hidden in simplicity"

  • @chevydmax04 Yes, thats the final point of the bill

  • @chevydmax04 Just saw this, but you should actually READ the farm bill you are referring to and not just go on hearsay. It's easy to find. Stop stirring up fear.

  • @hyperkinetic Bill or no bill, I will grow and consume whatever I want.

  • @hyperkinetic Shit man, this is terrible, did they really say so?

  • @saacbe this guy is ignorant. ignore his allegations.

  • @hyperkinetic You are an idiot.

  • @hyperkinetic you are 100% wrong. The s.510 e was passed to regulate food distrunution by companies and keep businesses under federal regulation and inspection for sale of such food. You mayy kave and build your own garden as long as as the food harvested is not sold or bartered on market. please read and understand . this is how ignorance is bred. YOU MAY OWN AND OPERATE YOUR OWN GARDEN PEOPLE. COMMERCIALIZING IS THE BILLS PURPOSE. _ retard

  • @903kylepetty Yes you are correct. This bill means that you can no longer take your home grown produce and sell it at market gardens. This bill also makes it cost prohibitive for small farmers and growers to stay in business. This also applies to organic farms. The original bill, before modification DID PROHIBIT YOU FROM GROWING YOUR OWN FOOD. This bill was a giant payoff to huge agribusiness by the Democrats in Washington.

  • @903kylepetty, so does that mean no more farmers market?

  • @hyperkinetic Small farms and food facilities that do less than $500,000 in sales annually and sell most of their food locally would be exempt from most of the new regulations in the bill.

  • @hyperkinetic update: a variation of this bill was passed. You can grow for self (obviously), and still sell up to 250 miles without being subject to the law. Basically if you go beyond that limit, they can legally "audit" your "crops" and if found to have disease or bacteria blah blah (and you didn't use insecticide) they can destroy what you got. But then we just start over!

  • @sharpguy66 If it can't be produced within a 250 mile radius of your home, it shouldn't really be part of your diet anyway, in my opinion, so maybe these restrictive laws are doing everyone a favour!

  • @hyperkinetic Sounds like a futuristic movie from a long time ago

  • We can't hear much of your commentary over the music.

  • use and old stocking over the outlet to capture all that silt.

  • whats the purpose of the concentrated raisins? is that to clean the tank?

  • I think the concentrated craisin juice was from the previous owner of the bin.

  • Your video could have been about 30 seconds long

  • Where may i get this type of bin (275 gallon liquid containment unit) that you have there? Did u get it for free due to a company throwing it out or did you buy it somewhere?

  • @Kakashi101sensi here in the bay area you can find thousand's @ craigslist bro!

  • well done . at least your having a go.good luck, and please post again how it goes.

  • Should have just let the dogs clean it out haah

  • thank u for uploading.very informative.i hope to start my own in my home country.

  • I used to sing "Fish Emulsion" (Sweet Emotion) to my pot plants back in the day.

  • that raisin goop should have gone into a vermicompost or a black soldier fly bin for conversion to fish food.

  • ok number one rule to a new Aquaponics system - RINSE GROW MEDIUM BEFORE RUNNING THRU THE SYSTEM!!!! guys you really have the makings of a nice grow system but you must take note of the steps to making a successful aquaponics system work or no matter how nice it is it will fail. I like that it was a food grade barrel but introducing all the acid that is on the rocks will hurt the system. Hopefully you caught this and re cleaned the medium and tank before redoing it all good luck guys!!!

  • they didn't even rinse the lava rocks BEFORE USE !!!

  • where did you dump the waste water from your clean up session? Aquabarrel will only use only EPA certified recycling facilities for it's barrels/totes.

  • raisins are poisonous for dogs.

  • ur dog drinks out them... u let them out in the drainage .... i hope thats not oil! 0o?

  • Maybe you could spend less time shooting the dogs and more time explaining what you are doing?

  • @newholborn If any dog gets shot in this video he probably deserved it.

  • You know what, I thought so too.
