  • any bootneck will tell you . this is the easiest test .

  • @40bravoandy Js nothing is easy in the Royal Marines!

  • Wow, and I thought a 13km forced march was a lot in the Canadian Forces BMQ's (Basic Military Qualification).

  • I like to see the USMC do this.

  • The one thing I always wondered about the 30 miler is the blisters these guys must get on their feet. Is this a problem for these guys? I mean I often get blisters just going on a 5km run.

  • @subway107 theyre feet get used to it and become calloused they rain tons before this so they should be fine

  • @subway107 If you take care of your feet you won't get a single blister.

I'm training to join as an officer and i've not had one yet. *touch wood*

  • @subway107 with the blister's ETC you cant moan about it you must keep going, when i did my 30 miler in the marine corps yes it is hard but the blister's is the last thing on your mind you just want to finish the test.. so blister's only get cured when they finished the course, any more questions and stuff just msg me - Regards Cpl Matthew Evans

  • dosen't matter how fit you are....if you don't keep your food and water intake massive then you're fucked

  • The 30 Miler hasn'' had 32 weeks of training.

  • cuppa tea and a pasty this is what Britain is made on, tough as nails

  • So in this march do you run all the way or walk or did they run towards each stop? please don't have a go at me i'm trying to learn im only 13

  • @mebecallum what does it look like on the video? ..

  • Necking the pasty in about 1 minute when your mouth is as dry as a dry thing is the hardest thing about the 30 miler. Gen.

  • Boy George made it. Makes one wonder.

  • is this the hardest training you do?

just out of curiosity because i might join after my gcse's

  • @xUKxASx Yeah same here. Although the 20 minute 3 mile run seems difficult. and the 10 minitue 1.5 mile that you need to do in 10 minutes or under in order to be recruited.

  • @xUKxASx the royal marine recruit training is the hardest basic training in the world, dont think you can go into it unprepared, you will be droped after the first 5 minuets if you do. i was training for about a year before i went for my PRMC

  • im starting training in may hopefully, cant wait!

  • I'm 16 and I have just applied. I can't wait to start all the tests at the start and really can't wait for the training. Fingers crossed I pass

  • I'm 16 and I've just applied and have started training. Can't wait to get down to business and I really can't wait. Fingers crossed I pass

  • im almost 14 and ive been planning to apply and know how hard it is which is why I wanna start training really early, any advice of how to run further distances?

  • @GamersUnite543 run up hills for stamina

  • @GamersUnite543 Start running? Marine training is some of the hardest shit ever. If you dont think you can do it, you cant

  • they had brought about 100 bertets over with them to hand out, it wasnt his personal green beret.

  • @GAZZAUVF ye you can get wings in royal marines

  • @ryanT2792 why is this comment flagged? tea and pasties are british... i'm british and i love both of those things... your getting a click on the NOT SPAM button sir!

  • Comment removed

  • how long does it take? the commando 30 miler?

  • @DrUpthebum Has to be completed within 8 hours.

  • Ive just joined up.And i cant wait

  • That's not really water. That's tea

  • Did The Nijmegen Marches This Year, 100miles in 4 Days. Hoping to join marines when im older :). Saw them doin the 100miles running it aswell, crazy! One of em gave me his green beret, and told me good luck. Can't wait!

  • @Hoobler94 sorry but a marine would not give you his green beret

  • @wiganerrmc yeah he did m8, thats what you do on the Nijmegen marches in holland, u bring things that represent your branch and we did a swap i gave him my beret and he gave me his. its what we do on the nijmegen marches. obviously you havent done anything like that. so think before you start accusing next time m8

  • @Hoobler94 well iv been a marine for 5 years and i would never give someone my beret and everyone i no would never give it away people keep there lids for the rest of there lifes and even tho its just a beret it means alot to the people who earn them

  • @wiganerrmc your a royal marine and i need answers so have u got a facebook or email i cn contact u wiv cheers

  • What's a pasty?

  • @locsaretheshit small pie

  • how many times can you try for the royal marines ? also can any1 tell me the schedual of the 32 weeks of trainning ?

  • @WrightyVideos How many times? If you are a failed RM, tough shit. Apply for the Para's.

Interesting, most failed RMR go for the reserve Para's but stil bullshit online via forums about the Brit Corps, as if they were still there in the Corps.. And you wonder why we in the the USMC piss ourself laughing?

  • Has ever been a "dummy fight" between Royal and US Mariines? It is interesting to know who is the best trained, even if I have read that British officers are very well trained and the most intelligent in the World, but the US Marines have got the advantage to have black people that are athletically favourished

  • @anisocoro There sure has been in the past, in Scotland, on a regular basis in the Holy Loch and the surrounding area. Sometimes we would win, at other times the Brit Marines would. It sort of panned-out even between us.

Black US Marines are no better, nor any worse, than any other colour of US Marine.

    Semper Fi.

  • @anisocoro There are black people in the RM too...

  • My, but there sure are some Corps pissed wanabees commenting on this one. Completing the thirty miler does not guarantee you a Green Lid, you have to finish as you started, as a syndicate.

  • this video makes it look so easy

  • What you don't see are all the early morning runs and circuit training they had to do to get in the right condition for this.

  • @excession33

I reckon most of them could have done it anyway... it's not actually as hard as it sounds. I did 40 across the Lake District in 9h30 earlier this year and the only training I did was playing football once a week!

  • @yootoobrob Impressive, 40 miles would finish me off no matter what training I had.

  • @yootoobrob why talk bollocks

  • @hydrokido You just did it... so you tell me... I was merely commenting that most of these lads were probably already fit enough to do this without having to do any special training.

  • 40 miles in 9h30 is nothing to brag about. Try doing it 5 hours carrying 50lb's. Prat.

  • @sambuka1989 There's no need for name calling... I wasn't bragging just saying it didn't seem that hard. Most of their bags are so small they don't look like they could way anywhere near 50lbs but to be honest I have no idea what kind of kit is in them. If they do weigh 50lbs then that makes it much harder. My mistake.

  • @yootoobrob this is done over windswept hill of dartmoor and thay have around 48lbs plus the days before thay did tarzan assault course ,nine mile speed march, and endurance course so there bodys are aready fucked

  • Snowy and Jon Sewell nearly wrapping thier tits in haha !

  • These boys are incredibly stoical. I really admire their strength of character. Well done.

  • Dam i bet they felt good after doing that

  • You have to respect these lads, Dartmoor's hard enough without the kit. Notice they are still fit to fight.

  • im thinking of joining the royal marines can any please tell me what you do withing the 36 weeks of trainning ?

    thanks

  • @WrightyVideos 32 weeks

  • Civilians need to remember it's the "Royal* Marines"

Distinguish between the US Marine Corp and these boys folks.

  • Where are the black "LADS" in this "BLIMEY" outfit ?

  • @strazzy3 there coloured fellas init...everyone i seen are fuckin huge and build like a shit brick house!

  • These guys pretty damn hardcore ;) Hoping to complete the officer course after uni (yn)

  • My mates just started his RM training he is about to start his second week, i cant wait to see him when he comes back

  • The thirty miler.

Any survivors from the winter Bastard Run 1967?

  • I'm waiting for my 2nd PRMC (got a shoulder injury on my first one) I did 14 Miles with not weight and in trainers in 2:30...but give me that weight and ill die but these men are hardcore

  • @Jamietran123 ye its easy to do 14 miles on road but over dartmoor is even hard to walk in some places dead boggy and that

  • @wiganerrmc yeah i know that... and im from wigan too

  • omg i even remember the feeling of crossing the line after running the cross country back at school and felling so happy it was over. These guys must be buzzing so much.

  • I hear you on that...I used to run cross country and the most I ever did in practice was 12 miles at fast pace...but 30 with equipment?! The races were 3 miles at race pace and I felt dead after them...I give these guys credit.

  • @ECisGod45 not just equipment but over dartmoor aswell which is very hard

  • Comment removed

  • @Noob1471 nice one! im thinkinf about applying for rm officer training after the summer myself.

  • according to most of the marines i have talked to after the other 32 weeks of training the 30 miler isnt the great fear it was at the beginning when they signed up

  • hoofin video !!

  • looks easy...? ok, this is close to the end of 32 weeks training... aka not fucking easy. (why foxboy would never be a marine.. or get in the navy lmao noob)

  • its part of the 4 commando tests, or the 4 hardest parts of training. it wont be easy.

  • calm down kids, theres a clue in my name

  • its hard but fun

  • foxboy1664 youre a fucking idiot, youd never say that if you done anything like this, you would never even make it to that stage in training you knob ed

  • looks easy to me

  • do it then say that mate

  • i have, so i can

    xxxxx

  • @foxboy1664 haha , i bet youd cry on the endurance course!

  • Endurance looks easy too, even Gordon Ramsey did it and he's a fat chef. I think all royals are just sailor boys really

  • @foxboy1664

says the pro marine? , how are they "sailor boys" , me or you dont even have the skills to get into the marines , its a tough job

  • How do you know I don't have the skills? They are not supermen

  • carrying over 32lb (pounds) of equipment for 30 miles with 2 - 3 short stops (less than a minute) and all with in 7 hours for a marine or NCO and 6 hours for an officer. its th opposite of easy. you try carrying that wieght for that long, then you'll find its hard

  • Well its 8 hours for a marine and 7 for an officer. You carry a little more than 32lbs and you get a bit more than a minute too. I have done one before, I'm just being childish and trying to get a reaction out of people

  • I think i could do the cup of tea part.

  • a cup of tea and pasty i would die in about a minute if tht was wat i was goin on ! massive respect for these guys

  • @nathanaellogan You'd be surpised how much energy a cup of sweet tea gives ya.

  • dartmoor must not b takin lightly

  • I would of fainted from exhustion at 0:16...

  • Your what they'd need! Enlist now!

  • because were marines. we respect one-another. we go through the hardest training in the world, why shout? what does a dictatorship achieve? we respect our leaders more than any other military because they respect us. simples

  • whats the total kit weight?

  • I beleive it is 32 lbs

     but im not sure

  • one should aim to do 60 press ups, 85 sit ups and 16 chin ups in one brief excercise test. bloody hard that.

  • cup of tea typical of us brits eh :P

  • It fuels the british armed forces ;D

  • PRMC 27th ocoberrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • good luck lad! remeber its only 3 days it worth it. RT - 5TH OCTOBER 29 DAYS WOOP

  • how many press ups/sit ups and chinups did you do mate in your prmc?

  • press ups- aim for 60...sit ups- aim for 80 and chin ups 6(overhand grasp)

  • RT today for me...dam it i leave in some hours...gotta get some sleep...zzzzz

  • good luck mate, i start November second.

  • My mate is on that PRMC

  • Good luck mate.... i just got through my pre-joining fitness test, awaiting my dates...!!! :D

  • I bet their feet are destroyed after that

  • I did mine just earlier this week and it hurts.

  • fellas as a bootneck myself ill just let you know you do the 30 miler with 40lbs and a weapon i.e. a SA80 A2 rifle.

  • The weapon weighs 30lbs.

  • it ways 9 you biff

  • 9 pounds of pure pleasure!!!

    Good job fellas!

    JD Saldivar/Sgt

    82d Abn Div

    82-87

  • no the sa 80 only wieghs 5kgs you numbnut

  • i mean lbs, the 30 miler infact i think is like 80 lbs plus wepon

  • bollocks?.. 30kg sometimes more.. then weapon aswell

  • i know for a fact it's not 30 kg!

  • bollocks?

  • 30 miles ?. On foot ?? that has to be a nightmare. Well done lads.

  • how much do the packs weigh?

  • 39 kg

  • bollocks

  • magnumforce1983 don,t waste anyones time,,,,, Please,,,,, seems your a Non Starter, and you want to do SAS Selection,,,, Dream On, wanker

  • ok calm down m8. what was that for?

  • i doubt you'll need a piss break because of the amount of sweat you release also the water you intake will then replace that sweat. correct me if i'm wrong.

  • yeh your right, in exersise if u ned a piss ur not working hard enough !

  • Is this bootcamp still? Or is this just training after bootcamp?

  • there is no such thing as "bootcamp" in british royal marines training.

  • So basically, once you graduate from the 3 day test in Lympstone, the training after that is just all physical exercise?

  • no not exactly, after the 3 day selection test you start 32 weeks of training at lympstone which is everything from physical training to tactical field craft training and everthing inbetween. the first few months are purely physical training and military training, then in the last few months its purely learning to become a soldier and learning in depth of all the tactical side of things and fieldcraft which then culminates in the commando tests one of which is the 30 miler shown in this video.

  • Hi Mate,

I have decided to go in for the RMR (Weekend Warrior) and i waws told on Wednesday at a briefing that RMR selection process, 3 phases in which you end on a 30 miler, is that 30 miler pur jogging? i ask as im currently running 10k 2 times per week and thats hard enough as it is..!

    Cheers

    Mike

  • good decision on RMR Mike. my mate is currently in phase 2 of RMR training at henley detachment, London RMR. the 30 miler is running but a slightly slower pace than a normal speed due to the weight carried and the unforgivin undulating terrain of dartmoor. maybe the pace could be considered a bit slower but when your doing it for 8 hours non stop on dartmoor's harsh terrain and weather with 50 Ibs of kit with a battered body and hardley any sleep, it is fucking hard! it busts your lungs!

  • Non stop.. 8 hours... my God any man who cpletes this i take my hat and socks off to.. i suppose i better start trying more then just 10k then.. LOL..

Mate many thqnks for your advice, any other tips or advice you can give, i would hugley appriciate.

    Mike.

  • no worries m8. when are u planning to start phase 1 of RMR training?

  • The Copral was saying the fitness examination etc, we wont probably start until Jan now, as he was saying they run the course twice per year now... quite a long wait but i am going along for a couple of Holding up Troop sessions.

I wanna get the forms and apply next Wednesday to be honest, but he told us to have a deeper think about things, try a few training sessions and take it from there.. Im in the Bermondsey HQ..

  • thats not too bad because then u can get training lol! go onto the royal marines website and search for the royal marines "training tool". its brilliant for people like u. its got everything from videos on how to do exercises properly to a suggested fitness programme. its for potential recruits who want to get fit for the PRMC (or of course RMR fitness tests). you should try to aim for 8 minute miles when running

  • iv got m apitude test for RM friday ...(Y)

  • cool good luck dammo1993

  • haha bootcamp, what a knob!!!

  • yeah lol bootcamp is a bit over the top. do u know what it is citypuncher18?

  • wat ya mean?? if ur talkin about what he was referring to as 'bootcamp' then it's PRMC, however this vid aint PRMC it's the last of the commando tests ;) and marines are also known as bootnecks!!

  • i know its the last of the cammando test! USMC bootcamp is not their equivalent to our PRMC. its their equivalent of basic training which lasts 12 weeks compared with 32 weeks of that of the RM's

  • who mentioned the USMC lol!!! both my brothers are RM's, one in 42 and one in 40 commando, so i know a fair bit about how they work ;-)

  • CDNBrit12 mentioned bootcamp and im telling him royal marines do not have bootcamp

  • Basically, the RM's have 32 Weeks of Selection which I think is the equivalent of boot camp. This is done in the final week along with the assault course, the endurace course and the 9 miler.

  • what if you need a piss!

  • tat was exactly wat i was thinking abt

  • Do it in yer underwear

  • Comment removed

  • i think they have a piss if they need it on their water breaks like at 0:41 lol

  • you piss while you run and you hit the person in the front of you

  • go on my page and give me advice on joining marines and getting fit for it

    thanks guys

  • how many miles do you run out of the 30????? cause runnin thirty is like more than a marathon

  • ye you run but not all time

  • the military way to put it is "shuffling" its a bit slower than runnin

  • dartmoors a fucker off of a place, i know this from visiting my uncle in the prison there but now he's moved to a cardiff one so i wouldnt be able to see him afterwards doing this exercise if i get in *fingers crossed*

  • yiyic71 1942 Shit a lot of water under the bridge since then,,, French soldiers, where have they been in Afghanistan for the last 4 years, how many died, due to enemy action, ?? how many have fought a live battle in last 3 years, ? K Brit dead in Afghanistan todate 25/3/09 150

  • ive been there

  • that's crazy. how heavy are the packs?

  • About 60lbs or 80lbs can't remember,

  • during the 30 miler its 40-50lbs of kit mate, 8 hours time limit, 7 for officers

  • when u say 40-50Ibs of kit, why is there a range of 10 Ibs? i thought it was 40Ibs plus 10Ibs rifleor is that what you're trying to say?

  • will beable to join the royal marine next january as minimum age cant wait

  • blow going in t min age m8....w8 untill ur 18 at LEAST! then that gives ur body more time to develop and to think IF its the right choise..also get a trade or somming behind ya man...if u dnt pass ur fuked..or if u go in n decide it aint for u... :) goos luck tho man, i intend to join wen im 20...after my apprentership.
