  • MAESTRO! I'm learning this play! AWESOME!!!

  • que MAESTRO de la musica un maestro .los que lo critican son sordo- siegos

  • 2.07 IS the best harmonic ever

  • i think i prefer john williams on this one

  • Please Watch

    watch?v=smPGJpBWzY4

  • what he said at the start?

  • this video is so cinematic...segovia in the middle of a deserted city, with only his trusty guitar by his side...so romantic

  • it´s a magic song... andres segovia thank you for more than 90 years of mystic and magic musik on guitar! i hope people will think for you in 100 years!

  • @ByTheSPiRiTs do you know the name of the original video?

  • @ubidubi04 Segovia in Portrait disc 2 is the source of this music

  • ONE WORD: AWESOME!

  • 3:30 - 3:50 Look at the smoke coming from his fingers! That poor guitar..

  • RESPECT to the GREAT Andres Segovia. In my opinion, he is one of the creators of the glory of the guitar! Don't say anything about him until you make the minimum of what he did. In this video is too old to play perfect so don't judge him so strictly...

  • All you can say is AMAZING 1

  • even in this age he plays it quite nice!!!

  • The master. Young players must realize what makes masters masters. Masters time never fades. Sounds change and music evolves but what it takes to be a master is eternal.

  • Segovia rocks!

  • it's a bit obscure, tony iommi would love this. it reminds me of the infinite jamming in the second part of the first Black Sabbath album. Great job!

  • the sound produced from sagovias guiter is like no other he is GREAT

  • Maestro

  • a los que no les gusta esto, primero para qué miran y segundo ojalá les pase algo malo

  • @karmelo9tuz me he muerto de la risa con el final de tu comentario lol! genial! =D

  • Reluctantly, I will admit that the first time I heard this song (now my favorite) I thought I was listening to 2 people because I was 'certain' there was a backup guitarist playing one part and a soloist playing another. People I have exposed this song to now love it! Segovia, we will miss you BIG TIME!

  • I simply don't get it.

No matters how long you keep on practicing, you'll NEVER manage to play like this man. Disheartening, yes indeed, but astonishingly TRUE.

  • This does something to the soul, something wonderful.

  • 230 dislikes? why? i don't understand, why?

  • @evetbeyler coz u r too dumb cocksucker

  • @evetbeyler 230 bieber's underling...

  • Язык бессилен описать чувства, которые вызывает игра Маэстро!

  • That right hand... I can see where Jose Feliciano got that. Just wonderful stuff

  • I remember this on the BBC in the 80's - hauntingly beautiful..... but 230 people dont like this - do they have turd running through their veins or are they from Mars?

  • @pelorus68 They are completely fucking irrelevant...............this is far beyon everything made on this little rock called Earth...do not regret to lisaten to this during the Apocalypse

  • First song I learnt in class..a more basic version obviously..still play it today..The had showed us EXACTLY this clip..I've looking for it since I was 18 years old ! Just found it..Props to this guy.

  • This song takes a lot of energy. I always need to stop half way otherwise my hands will break apart.

  • @JoUtan01 lil wayne could teach your mum how to fuck properly

  • Classical guitar is instrument that can have everyone but no everyone can use this for real art.

  • Among Segovia's last students were Eliot Fisk & Michael Daily. Michael, whose first national tour was at age 14, also studied with Pepe Ramero. My son is fortunate to have spent the last 4 years and continues to be under Daily's tutelage. Now a junior as a college music major, he performs far above his years and competes with the doctorial students. Andres' legacy lives on. As for this performance, though admittedly not Segovia's best, still demonstrates his mastery of phrasing and cadence.

  • @JoUtan01 fo' sho'

  • Esse cara tocava demais, tocava mesmo, essa emoção de Segovia é única !!!!

    Nunca vi igual...

  • My Dad passed away 8 years ago on the 26th of December and Segovia was his classical guitar role model. My Dad also handmade 7 classical guitars himself, one of which I am a proud owner of.

  • @wowbobwow37 I enjoyed listening to this although I cant say im a real classical fan, I did enjoy your story about your fathers guitars, sounds like you have a family treasure there

  • The best classical guitar player in the world RIP

  • he is very good, but to slow

  • As I recall, Segovia popularized the guitar as an instrument.

  • @robyrobot Classical Guitar yeah.

  • @robyrobot When did you first hear of Segovia? He is still basically unknown except to guitarists, and I do like him. But, see comment below about Robert Johnson, then start thinking about Elmore James, Buddy Guy, Hendrix, SRV, Page, Clapton.

  • Fine dining is still basically unknown to people who eat meat pies in pubs too, but it's always existed. It's disappointing that you think he's unknown. Kind of the same way I'm disappointed when someone puts ketchup on fillet Mignon.

  • he was so damn good!

  • Beautiful, classic, thank you.

  • es exelente maestro andres segovia larga vida en nuestros corazones boemios

  • sublime, beautiful, touching absolutely mesmerizing, this the alpha and omega of classical guitar.

  • 229 dislikes, seguro que se la pasan escuchando legueton o al asexuado de Justin Bieber...

  • every comment about electric guitar player denotes a lack of respect for classic guitar... for segovia, lucia & feliciano....

it dont means that yngwie or vai arent great guitar players... i love them

why discuss about this in every video of YT? it doesnt have any sense

    greetings from méxico

& sorry about my english... isnt good enought

  • stop commenting bad about him

look how old was he when he played this

if you can play this at age of 90

    i'll......

  • Quit arguing about Hendrix and other!!!!! This is Segovia video. If you don't like it, go post your stuff on Little Wing video.

  • Anybody can argue about the greatest rock and roll guitarist and never get anywhere. However Segovia is the father of guitar. None of those musicians you argue about would play the way they do had it not been for Andres. Somebody will always have a different opinion of who the greatest metal and or rock and roll guitarist is. The fact is Segovia created the platform for all of them. Guitar would still be a background instrument had it not been for him, he's flawless and the most skilled. Done.

  • @KOTHVETTE406 Segovia had nothing to do with the development of blues or rock--Robert Johnson is the central creative force behind both styles of music--his licks, chord progressions, note selection, and style started it all--- Jimmy Page and Robert Plant didn't go to the crossroads in Mississippi and bring home a jar of dirt for nothing-- they knew, as all great blues/traditional rock guitarists do, that it was his guitar mastery that inspired it all.

  • You know Segovia taught John Williams? And do you know how old he is in this video? He must have some amount of arthritis in his hands, and yet he still manages to play this piece (which is a very difficult piece to play) at an amazing standard. He's awesome :D

  • I think John Williams play Asturias little better than Andres Segovia.

  • you sir are a gentle man with a kind soul

  • I am learning from a man who was taught by this man's pupil. This is my first time listening to him. He is so peaceful to watch. Small world eh? :)

  • this is totally a Blink 182 rip off...

  • where's the Love button?

  • After reading comments, and listening to other variations of this on YouTube, I don't think any of them have a damn thing on this version. What it lacks in fire and technique, it more than makes up for in emotion and probably about 80 years of feeling and experience. Absolutely beautiful.

  • @chronosynclastic8 You're absolutely right!

  • as fi vrut sa-l ascult cand avea mai multa mobilitate.

  • The God of classical guitar. Oh and 226 people are deaf...

  • @AngelOfMercyMillan I know that you jackass I was just admireing his classicness and how dope he is ... You ass , I never said other music wasn't good

  • When it comes to this man comparisons are just worthless! He is the Alpha and Omega of classical guitar..the inventor of techniques used today by everybody else. the one who put the classical guitar where it is now. how can anybody else can be compared to that?

all other classical guitar players play standing on the shoulders of this man...it is as simple as that..

  • no puedo consevir que a 226 personas no les agrade este video

  • I dont think anyone has realized this but Segovia is playing in the cold you can see his breath. I dont know if anyone has played in the cold before but it is EXTREMELY tough, your joints and fingers are tense. Even if you warm them up before. This some pimp shit right here.

  • @Todzumpapst That's not his breath, that's the reflection from the water. It doesn't degrade the performance any--I hope I'm half the player he is when I'm that age.

  • @Todzumpapst I FREAKIN HATE IT WHEN THAT HAPPENS!

  • @Todzumpapst yeah! people dont understand that, i always create friction with my hands to make them warm before i play cause its so cold XD

  • @Todzumpapst I don't see his breath, tought I believe what you say...

  • @Todzumpapst AND ... He's about 80 years old at this time (some 20 years ago).

  • @Todzumpapst yeah its gotta be tough.im an aspiring flamenco guitarist and i so envy this guy.lol

  • The Master...!!

  • The great !

  • Adamsın Andres Segovia.

  • o tombul parmaklarla yaptığın arpeje kurban olayım dalga geçmiyorum cidden

  • I first heard this in the early 80s and did not belive that there was was just one man playing.

It fascinated me so much, that I began to look deeper into Andreas Segovia..everything I learned, made me Respect this man more,he must be the greatest Spanish Classical Guitarist...His fingers speak out to me...

  • can you imagine going to Thanksgiving dinner and hearing him play this among his family?

  • @fyrehawkSix i can imagine me playing it for my family...

  • What did he say in the beginning?

  • Comment removed

  • @JHJH007 something on the lines of " the XXXX was the mysterious stars? or starts? of my favourite" ... int the end i haven't been much help!

  • i like this version best because when its played too fast it overwhelms me, but when its played like this it moves me. thats jut personally though.

  • @kssork WHAT I CAN'T HEAR U OVER THE MUSIC

  • i'm amazed that theres so many smartasses there are on youtube...

  • 224 People accidentally hit the "dislike" button.

  • I think I love Andres Segovia

  • how can this only have 2.8 million views.... this is true music and Andres segovia is an artist.... not lil wayne or 50 cent or 'lady gaga'.... what has this world come to... so angry... want to kill

  • I HOPE MY NEIGHBORS LIKE CLASSICAL

  • @TheAngrySchool They don't, COULD YOU KEEP IT DOWN!

  • THERE IS MANY TALENTED GUITAR PLAYERS BUT ANDRES SEGOVIA IS THE ONE THAT MADE THE GUITAR POPULAR.

  • all you jerks saying that one person is better than another, This is Andres Segovia, This guy was the father, of classical guitar, he created the standards, for classical guitar. let me type that agian CREATED the standards, even so "@rollboxmaster your right no one is better than another. But this is Segovia, show the man some respect

  • Perfect.

  • Although Segovia is compared with other guitarists, his main difference lies in the history. Becoming the man who makes classic guitar a solo instrument.

  • I have the same last name as Andres. It would be totally awesome if I found out I was related to this guy. He's was a true artist with pure artistic talent.

  • this is excellent

  • How ironic is life. To get good at guitar, you must practice, thus, old age comes with more practice. However, the older you get the less nimble you are, thus, that increase in skill is only used to combat the decrease in nimbleness. If one could practice and gain skill without losing nimbleness, who knows what we may achieve.

  • @GFDentertainment sabicas...enuf said

  • Ah, Segovia. He is much maligned now a days. But in his time he was considered to be the master among masters. When I play this piece I try to match his interpretation. He used to say that sometimes what was required was a gentle disregard for the rhythm. As this piece was originally written for piano, it is extremely unforgiving on the guitar. But taking his advice, it seems to really come alive in a way that Albéniz likely would have appreciated. Thanx for posting this masterpiece. :3

  • all the people who dare and compare this man with other more young players what can i say they are stupid and they are very noob about what is music

  • @iasonasx sure this guy was good, but there are younger players that were better. I mean, just because Liszt was good at piano doesn't mean he is going to be the best there ever will be.

  • @GFDentertainment watch your tone boy, it's segovia you are talking about... :)

  • no offense to this guy or the people that admire his work but i think esteban plays much better when it comes to precision.

  • Maestro!!

  • so deep...so magic...so beautiful

    10x @bythespirits

  • Unbelievable......Shorty fat stubby hands, fingers like sausages.......but plays like a dream.

  • He was still travelling to Chicago in his 90's

Although slightly weakened , didn't miss a beat

  • People that are saying that many other players sound much better than him and his playing is not contorting to your standards then take a look at his age.

The man in this video is how old and still playing wonderfully

His Mistakes are not mistakes these are signs of his aged playing over time.

  • Whoa is he playing the melody and the chord progression at the same time?!

  • Is he better than Django in terms of skill? I need to know an answer.

  • @Rosieisapunk1200 They play two completely different styles and are both very accomplished players, so it is very hard to compare. I would say segovia is better simply because he is seems to have more skills under his belt.

  • @401Nero Thanks for clearing that up man. Alot of trash talkers on the web trying to diminish the skill of classical guitarists who i've read are musically precise and theoretical in their art. Nothnig against Jazz, but these guys study music like a science.

  • @Rosieisapunk1200 Thats a bit like comparing segovia to Jimi Hendrix, You can't compare the two.

  • @IdontneedanIpod thats because hendrix was a sloppy blues rock guitarist

people have their tastes in music but you should never let that get in the way

technically comparing hendrix's sloppy solos to any proffessional level classical guitar player is absolutely fucking stupid especially when we are talking about the man who made the guitar recognized enough to be taught in universities in the first place and also credited as dignifying the guitar as a legitamate concert instrument!

  • @joelakastud123 Ok I didn't realise that you were bad-mouthing Hendrix, And I think that Segovia had reached the pinaccle of playing but calling Hendrix sloppy is just idiotic, Hendrix and Segovia had reached the Zenith of what was possible on the guitar and had revolutionised the way everyone in the world played, but to compare them It just isn't possible. I respect that you love clasical music, but to bad-mouth other legends of the Instrument is stupid.

  • @IdontneedanIpod its very obvious you have no playing experience otherwise you would know the difference and also what it sounds like when you squeak almost all of you notes he was sloppy and overrated sorry its the truth get over it

  • @joelakastud123 Its very obvious you know nothing about Hendrix and you have nothing to base your assuptions on and you Have no room in your pathetic little world for someone who admires both Classical and Modern Styles of guitar. You also seem to misunderstand and think that I believe this Is easy, Segovia's playing Is nothing less than incredible, but you make it seem like I have never played classical before, I am not a master like some people but I do know what it takes.

  • @IdontneedanIpod first of ur full of it like i will never believe you have ever picked up a guitar because you lack the knowledge of even the most basic guitarists, second ever heard of yngwie malmsteen or steve vai? apparently not if you still think jimi hendrix is the zenith of guitar! what a fuckin joke

  • @joelakastud123 I thought a little politeness would get through your thick troll skull but I see that you are musically retarded. I knew you would result in a naming guitarists, Malmsteen and Vai? Your'e not even reaching into the top ten greatest guitarists of all time. I seem to recall a time when Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen and Steve Ray Vaughn did a tribte to jimi Hendrix, even they were smart enough to see Hendrix as the Pinacle of the possiblities of guitar. You're Under 14 aren't you.

  • @IdontneedanIpod listen i respect hendrix's influences as much as the next

but saying he is the pinacle of guitar? have you really payed close attention to his playing? if taht were true i would throw my guitar away because i have already mastered all that there is to know whether i was 10, 30 or whatever it doesnt make a difference som1 practicing blues atleast a year or so could easily master his technique seriously how are seriously saying this shit? i cant even believe it!

  • @joelakastud123 Good little troll you only swore once, Reading you're last comment I'm begining to think you've never touched an Instrument, I can not understand that someone who playes the guitar and listens to Segovia dosn't admire the pure genius of Hendrix. Hendrix is no more sloppy than Segovia is. What I can't believe is you brought those other amatures into this.

  • @joelakastud123 I would like you to consider this video,

    Hendrix:

    wrote it ,

    played the guitar,

and sang and this is all live.

  • @IdontneedanIpod i see no link but ive seen plenty enough of his sloppy scales

scales look harder then they are try plucking out the bar cords on asturias! if you learn scales youl find yourself shredding them fast in NO TIME! its pretty obvious you are dead set on the idea his technique is the zenith even after know who steve vai and malmsteen is just look up his solo tabs and learn it yourself and see how difficutlt the zenith of technique really is then try to learn vai or yngwie

  • @joelakastud123 Youv'e never tried to play Hendrix, I doubt weather you have even handled a guitar before. Malmsteen and Vai are two inferior jokes. And by the way TABS? you must be joking, all Malmsteen has is speed, no feeling. Vai uses playback loops in his concert because it is to hard for him and its not just for effect. To utter their names in the same sentence as Hendrix is a joke.

  • @IdontneedanIpod go look in my feed i commented on a lesson video its so simple he doesnt even need to explain he just playes it close to the camera and you can keep up easily

after that try to learn any malmsteen solo.

that is the only way i can get my point across i think the solo i commented on was along the watchtower

  • @joelakastud123 Think Malmsteen and Vai are fast? No. Go try this or Shawn Lane he will piss any shredder completely out using no sweep picking with coherent scales not simple entry level shit. "Idontneedanipod" has a point. All along the watchtower is a Bob Dylan song you dolt. No kidding it's not difficult to play on guitar. Try "Hear my train a comin' live" for a Hendrix song. Post the vid then we can all laugh at you while we play DOPELHALEN oh excuse me STEVE VAI with our dicks.

  • @KOTHVETTE406 Don't bother with this little troll anymore, anyone who thinks Hendrix is sloppy is musically retarded.

  • @IdontneedanIpod you are dumb malmsteen having no feeling and vai sucking. I dont think you have ever heard of music theory. Malmsteen is probably the most skilled guitarist ever. Malmsteen played classical you dont like it fine. If you really think hendrix was better than malmsteen and vai then i wanna know what you are smoking. what next you gonna say hendrix better than Page and angus young, or maybe even EVH. What did hendrix do that was sooooo special.

  • @Metalmorphoziz Angus young better than Hendrix!!!!! LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL that's ridiculous.

  • @Metalmorphoziz

You need to understand context. Hendrix revolutionized what it meant to be a guitar player. No one played like that before him. He started the whole guitar god thing. All those guys you listed just perfected what Hendrix started.

  • @IdontneedanIpod i agree with almost everything you've said...but saying malmsteen is "just speed",i do not agree with that.Being that fast it's something to acknowledge not to look down on.

  • @IdontneedanIpod I'm not a huge fan of either Vai or Malmsteen but to say anything is too (yes too with two o's not 1) hard for Vai must be a joke. I'm not gonna fight much for Malmsteen but I'm sure he's a hell of a lot better than you in every aspect including feeling. Hendrix was revolutionary but to say he is in anyway more talented than Steve Vai I think is pretty ridiculous.

  • @IdontneedanIpod haha well played, you also used the wrong weather, you should have used whether.

  • @s0medudeonline I agree, some people seem to live in another world!

  • @IdontneedanIpod ... i think you're wrong dude especialy about malmsteen he uses a lot of knowledge and feelings for the songs that he has made and played ...take a look to his live concert in japan with the philarmonic orchestra...i think you should open your mind about modern and neoclassical music

  • @paulmetalas Malmsteen is nothing compared to Hendrix.

  • @paulmetalas Malmsteen is nothing compared to Hendrix.

  • Is he better than Django Reinhardt in terms of Skill?

  • @Rosieisapunk1200 Don't forget Tommy Emmanuel Classical Gas.

  • you think u r slash, ehh?

  • Beautifully played in the Court of the Myrtles, the Alhambra, Granada Spain. However, isn't this the Allegro con Spirito?

  • @baysidestudio No, it's Allegro ma non Troppo :-)

  • Master!!!

  • Between Andres and Django, who is technically more skilled?

  • It's not like Listening to music, but, better, Dreaming with music!

  • Segovia, thank you so f***ing much. I dream this music.

  • 4:26 EPIC

  • Old man's got skiddles

  • 221 people don't know what real music means!

  • perfect is very little to surcribe this video!

  • Music is a very subjective artform. Lots of great players demonstrate completely different styles on a given piece. To say definitively that one is "better" than the other when you're talking about players like Segovia, Vidovic, Liona Boyd, or John Williams is very wrong in my book. Each interprets the piece and puts a living soul into those guitars in a different way. Asturias is a beautiful fiery piece, but also remember a good fire doesn't always have to be a roaring one.

  • @rollboxmaster Very astute comment.

Some people do tone, or patterns etc, but Segovia explores every dimensional dynamic.

    This is timeless!

  • @rollboxmaster well said! . I believe if you just listen to all interpretations not critically but as the beauty it represents then you have then been blessed. I hope music touches everyones soul the way it has for the artists that play them. Neil Young I heard once say that artists only interpret what the creator of the music originally wrote.

  • @rollboxmaster I'm pretty sure all forms of art is subjective not just music

  • orgulloso de este Linarense Ilustre...Viva Linares y viva D.Andrés Segovia!!!!!!

  • Maestro of the Maestros <<<333

  • This makes my heart ache every damn time I listen to it.

  • Manos de un cirujano y elcorazon de un poeta, me maravilla lo que hace con la guitarra.

  • eddie van halen is way better then this guy

  • @daledeem68 hehe not even close!!
