To all who say the motorcyclist was tailgating: if he had been in a car he certainly would have been, but for a motorcyclist that seemed to be a safe distance.
any of you that think that this is the biker fault, well you should not be driving yourself. the biker is already overtaking, he now has the right of way. the red car puts on his indicator at 0:11 and pulls out without looking at 0:12 . if this had been a car instead of motorcycle you would all be blaming the red car then. can any of you remember your driving test, look and make sure that noting is coming before you pull out, overtake or change lanes.

That may or may not be true, but without knowing the focal length of the camera lens, there is no way to tell. I suspect that the camera had a short-focal length, wide angle lens, which distorts the distance. Look at the two vehicles during the right turn before the passing attempt and note how the distance between the cars looks much shorter than it did during the passing attempt.
NEVER tailgate people...and clearly the biker was tailgating severely. I am not condoning what the car did...but stay off of people's asses no matter what you're driving.

Getting a car license is too easy. Bike was too close and was slightly to the left ready to overtake. Car was gonna make room for the bike to pass on the right. Driver and rider both made a mistake here. Driver should have stayed straight.... Also the bike shouldnt be that close. In saying that, this drivers mentality is wrong. Yesterday one guy past me doing 30 mph over the speed limit standing up next to his motorcycle. I just wish people driving the motorcycles would just be smart and stop show boating. The motorcycle was legally trying to pass. He had a broken yellow line on his side making it legal to do so. The driver of the red car should be charged with attempted vehicular homicide. With the helmet camera in place, I do hope that the driver was brought to justice and held accountable for his/her stupidity. I ride a Harley and deal with crazy drivers all the time. Makes my skin craw to watch this video. Hope the rider is alright.

Yesterday one guy past me doing 30 mph over the speed limit standing up next to his motorcycle. I just wish people driving the motorcycles would just be smart and stop show boating. Because if you do that stuff in front of me and you wreck the I will just pretend you are a speed bump. For those of you who ride a motorcycle smartly like you are suppose to I will always show you the proper respect and try to help if needed.

Definitely looks like an intentional hit. EVEN IF someone is tailgating you it doesn't give you the right to cause an accident. The video only started playing when the bike rolled up behind the car so he might not have been tailgating. When I get caught behind a couple of cars that are driving like they have nowhere to be you better believe I pass them "car or bike"! They have lines in the road that break which let you know when to pass, and it wasn't solid! He had every right to make a pass.

@minitruckinyota if you look at the shadows, you can see the car is about 10ft behind a 2nd car - although he should have at least indicated to let the biker know he was making an overtaking maneuver.
I know the car driver should have looked before overtaking but it could be just a mistake.
Amazing though how people don't bother to indicate when flicking a switch is all that it would take to prevent a serious accident.

The motorcycle was legally trying to pass. He had a broken yellow line on his side making it legal to do so. The driver of the red car should be charged with attempted vehicular homicide. With the helmet camera in place, I do hope that the driver was brought to justice and held accountable for his/her stupidity. I ride a Harley and deal with crazy drivers all the time. Makes my skin craw to watch this video. Hope the rider is alright.

A cager intentionally cutting a biker off. The biker was clearly in the cager's mirrors and had moved left when the biker had decided to pass.

i believe bikers pass cars not because they are showing off, but because being in front of the cars is exponentially more safe than being behind or beside a car, because you would be constantly worrying about being in their blind spot and having shit like this happen..

The bike was in the cages blind spot, Many people forget to use their indicators when doing an overtake. The bike pulled out as the car started an overtaking move, the bloke got a hell of a fright when he realised the bike was there and went back into his lane, or he was maybe totally unaware and saw something that made him decide the overtake was too risky.
