@dwarflover63 I agree.... I thought the same thing. I could see it if she had panniers underneath it. But otherwise it looks like a gown from the 1910's.
It's a shame they didnt stay together. They look like a great couple & their children are gorgeous!! I love Victoria's dress too! I'm not a fan of gold on me personally but it fit her fantastically!
@Abcdevote She was a professional model, but not what the aristocracy would consider an "upper classer". I think people are too hard on this poor woman. She obviously loved her husband, had a gown made to resemble an 18th century Spencer family oil painting of an ancestor's wedding. He cheated on the poor girl and several wives after her.
@Abcdevote This will help in regards to Victoria's background. Look up: Victoria Aitken in Wikipedia. Aitken is her current surname. She's lived a very tumultuous life.
@celtickiwi11 It was over 20 years ago; it's no wonder it looked tacky but don't forget that was nothing compared to the poof's of many brides with big over sprayed hair! I think it could have had better potential and it flopped but so did the marriage. Why is that someone gets married several times and keeps on failing at them? I've often wondered that? Look at Liz Taylor; being divorced once is acceptable b/c you just don't know what the person went through but 3 or 4 times that's too much!
you obviously miss the point with the dress. You prefer scrapped back hair, over the top make up and tits spilling over do you? that is the trend now isn't it? I think this is a very tasteful wedding.
the bride looked lovely thank you for posting! she looked very classy and very religiously respectful i love her dress choice sooo much i hate to see brides in sleeveless dresses.. i mean really would u wear a sleeveless shirt to a mass or Church regardless the date..? however lace sleeves are an exception haha
I thought her dress was very nice. Unlike some of the dresses I have seen... If you are overweight please please opt for a dress with sleeves, someday you'll look back at your pictures and be very sorry.
i dunno what she went for..but the dress looks oooooooold...she looks like a dead bride ghost if yall know what i mean...i actually think shes beautiful..her face and all..i find the women from that time r so pretty for some reason....more natural beauty..but im sorry the dress wasnt working for her...
@MsBrianaJean LOL, the dress is supposed to look "old". It was designed after an 18th century gown that's in a very old oil painting of one of the Spencer family's ancestors. It hangs in the gallery at the Spencer family ancestral home of Althorpe. I think that the bride was trying to please her husband and add some old fashioned romance to the wedding. :)
@cmariej1 ah i see, that made me look abit noobish then huh lol, well that was sweet of her, she is beautiful especially if the dress had history, she did for a good reason and to respect her husband, as long as theyre all happy:)
I personally like the dress the bride is wearing, considering it's a replica and I love history. I found that to be very romantic. But the bride herself (being a professional model) certainly didn't address the need to have her hair and makeup done appropriately. She looks terrible, like she just woke up and put on the dress. She's very pretty when she's made up, so this instance boggles my mind. The one day where she should have looked her most radiant, yet she "let her self go" so to speak.
She was the most beautiful bride of all time...apart from Elizabeth 11. What a dress! (I have bad things to say about Diana, but know that you will delete them!)
@normalil- You are free to say "bad" things about Diana. However, this is not a video about Diana, so your comments will be deleted because it doesn't pertain to the subject of this clip.
Any criticism or negative opinion of Diana is tolerated, so long as it is isn't vulgar or distasteful. For example, if you call her a whore, your comment will be deleted and you will be blocked. Just be civil and mature.
@iLovePrincessDiana36 Please forgive my comment above, as it doesn't fully coincide with this video, but in a way it does. This was Diana's brother and I think anything negative about Diana is in bad taste regardless, but that's your decision of course. I'm sorry, but I am so distressed by the people, including the woman who posted above leaving comments about Diana living and dying it the fast lane. Immature and completely disgusting. I do not understand her level hatred. Sickening!
@normalil Why on earth are you making the point about having bad things to say about Diana, when this is a video of her brothers wedding. You are not a good person Norma. I have read many, many derogatory posts made by you on videos pertaining to Diana. This was a lovely wedding, and yes Diana was there. She looked radiant and graceful as ever. I'm sure my post will be removed, but I hope not. I feel that this coincides with the video poster's comment. RIP Diana, I know your brother misses you!!
Gold lace and fur trim on the bride? Barbara Cartland AGAIN in Pepto Bismol pink? The pregnant sister in one of Diana's primary colored cast-offs from 1982, complete with white hose and red shoes? *shudder* What a pageant of abysmal taste. Although Diana looks rather nice.
i loved the gown - it was just lovely - looked a hell of a lot better than some of the new ones that show everything. this was nice and modest with loads of class.
@calleyjack I agree with you. Lovely gown - a tasteful replica of one from a Spencer family painting. I am no fan of the modern wedding gowns of today, they do indeed show way too much. Wedding dresses are supposed to be modest, not something you'd wear to show off your "goods".
How long was he married to this lady? We here in the US dont get that much news about the Royals. I assume the happy couple have since split. Earl Spencer seems like a fiery sort.
She looks thin and exhausted and not terribly happy. Perhaps she had a premonition! Also it looks like she was a bit cross with the rather aggressively thrown confetti at the end there! The little ones were getting a bit carried away and it looked like they were throwing weapons!
Also agree with others. Horrible dress and her hair!
That dress was fugly and was she walking funny in it or what? It reminded me of the movie "Corpse Bride". And that dilapidated old carriage didn't help matters any.
Sorry, but horrid dress, horrid hair, horrid page-boy outfits, horrid bridegroom and horrid day! And the marriage didn't last (neither did his next one).
I think she's a lovely bride. You can tell that she's madly in love with her newly wed husband. Saying "I love you" as they kissed. It's sad things didn't work out for these two.
The handsome Viscount Althorp's marriage to Victoria Lockwood was a lovely departure from a contemporary formal and stately ceremony. How nice that he and his bride made the occasion romantic and sentimental with strong ties to family tradition: the Spencer tiara, carriage, and wedding dress fashioned after those in 18th c Spencer family portraits. It could have been a scene from a wedding centuries ago.
Always so stunning, gorgeous Diana nearly stole the show!
@avalonmystic You are so right, the aristocracy seem to hang on to a lifestyle that has no place in the modern world.........marrying then producing and heir and a spare and then going off to have as many affairs as they can.
Seems the Earl did the same thing on his wife as Prince Charles did on his sister so he is no better.

what a terrible wedding, OMG! well, now I know that there really was s.th. wrong with that Spencer family! - At Williams weddind, his uncle who is 46 looked more like a sad 66 year old, seemed so frustrated.
@iLovePrincessDiana36 The Windsors are in fact FAR more twisted than the Spencers! At least the Spencers have far more English royal blood in their veins and can trace their family tree back to the Plantagenets! They got a bad wrap by Charles spin PR people. Making himself look good when he was the one whoring around the entire time. Poor Diana!
@iLovePrincessDiana36 What made the Windsors appear really twisted was the inclusion of Diana and Fergie into the fold. Plus, the media always make them sound crazy.
I don't care what century that dress was modeled after-it was ugly as hell! Plus couldn't the bride have done something better with her hair? Maybe it was just awfully humid but her hair was limp and with no style...
