@Abcdevote She was a professional model, but not what the aristocracy would consider an "upper classer". I think people are too hard on this poor woman. She obviously loved her husband, had a gown made to resemble an 18th century Spencer family oil painting of an ancestor's wedding. He cheated on the poor girl and several wives after her.

@celtickiwi11 It was over 20 years ago; it's no wonder it looked tacky but don't forget that was nothing compared to the poof's of many brides with big over sprayed hair! I think it could have had better potential and it flopped but so did the marriage. Why is that someone gets married several times and keeps on failing at them? I've often wondered that? Look at Liz Taylor; being divorced once is acceptable b/c you just don't know what the person went through but 3 or 4 times that's too much!

@MsBrianaJean LOL, the dress is supposed to look "old". It was designed after an 18th century gown that's in a very old oil painting of one of the Spencer family's ancestors. It hangs in the gallery at the Spencer family ancestral home of Althorpe. I think that the bride was trying to please her husband and add some old fashioned romance to the wedding. :)

I personally like the dress the bride is wearing, considering it's a replica and I love history. I found that to be very romantic. But the bride herself (being a professional model) certainly didn't address the need to have her hair and makeup done appropriately. She looks terrible, like she just woke up and put on the dress. She's very pretty when she's made up, so this instance boggles my mind. The one day where she should have looked her most radiant, yet she "let her self go" so to speak.

The handsome Viscount Althorp's marriage to Victoria Lockwood was a lovely departure from a contemporary formal and stately ceremony. How nice that he and his bride made the occasion romantic and sentimental with strong ties to family tradition: the Spencer tiara, carriage, and wedding dress fashioned after those in 18th c Spencer family portraits. It could have been a scene from a wedding centuries ago.
