  • @xxyourmomx9 Uneducated brats? Really? Your fucking name is Your mom..

  • seashellnecklacebrah......... dont dog about tool please. they are the shit

  • RADIO STATION!?!? WHEN HAS RADIO BEEN THIS EPIC!?!

  • next time wear a condom before you fuck my ears

  • not btbam, just the quality of this crap ass video. cant even hear any detail to the music.

  • sounds like shet lol

  • 4:24 :D:D:D

  • I know that part is FUCKING AWESOME

  • it's soooo all over the place....

  • well i dnt like dream theatre tht much

  • to me the best progressive metal bands are: PROTEST THE HERO, TOOL, BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME, THE HUMAN ABSTRACT, THE NUMBER 12 LOOKS LIKE YOU

  • u forgot OPETH, DREAM THEATER, AND A LOT OTHERS.

  • mastodon.

  • well i guess you could say that, but I think they are just more metal instead of prog. they do have elements of prog but more metal.

  • hahaahahaahahahaah

  • LOL are you by any chance retarded?

  • Gah, I hate Tool.

  • 3:47

    what does he say? lol

  • ...jazz

  • i love this song its awesome

  • 5:19 FALSETTO, MUTHASUCKAS!

  • check out my foam born a and b cover if your bored and let me know what you think :P

  • fuck, what radio station was this ripped from? i have to listen to that one!

  • Jazz.

  • 4:25 marks my favorite breakdown of all time.

  • I can't find anything in this music. I want to get into these guys, but. It sounds incoherent explosions

  • agreed!

  • BTBAM are definitely an aquired taste, but I'd advise that you stick it out. It can take a while to 'get them' but once you get over the initial shock of it you can really appreciate their ability.

  • Well said. That describes my transition from BTBAM tollerator to hardcore BTBAM fan. They are now my favorite band, but when I first heard them I could only listen to the intro of Alaska, the intro and ending of Selkies, etc. Now, I have all their albums and love all parts of all their songs, period, I honestly can't get enough of them! And I used to be just like the first two guys in this comment tree. In 2005, I would have agreed with them all the way. Now I beg them to give BTBAM a chance.

  • Hey dude, glad to hear it. It's definitely worth persisting when checking out music that isn't to your typical taste. This applies to any genre or style. It may take a while but it can open you up to a whole other world. =]

  • definitely man. i used to be way against any screaming, but now i cant get enough of it. you definitely have to get used to it, but it probably is the best effect for a song. people are just so damn narrowminded

  • EXACTLY how i feel, it's like ive bought so many of their albums and listen to them all the time. i love every song

  • I felt the same way at first. I hated it at first. I only checked them out because they played with DT on Progressive Nation. But at the same time i was intruiged by it. I basically dared myself to listen to more and more of Colors. It was track five (Ants in the Sky) that turned me around on BTBAM.

The more times you hear it, and the more you have it memorized, the better it gets. It's not as random or disjointed as it sounds at first.

Now Colors is one of my all time favorite albums.

  • They are my favorite band now. haha. 3 months later.

  • JAZZ

  • man..that davidesle dude does alot of comments..

  • hahaha i know what a douche

  • Yep. :D

  • HOW WE ABOUT WE SHUT UP AND LISTEN TO THE SONG

Also Thomas Eraks playign style is so different from these guys, or anyones for that matter. Making them harder to play. They're more obscure.

It's two different genres guys so shut it. Let's not compare Paganini to Pantera.

  • cool band and i do respect peoples opinion so i wont say ur gay cuz u dont like the fal of troy but i will not tolerate sumone saying that BTBAM has more skill then the fall of troy.

  • 1st off thomas erak sings and screams and plays the guitar, (wut other metal or metalish band does that?) although he never does low growls his range still exceeds most singers/screamers.u think he sounds more like a girl, thats opinionated the fact is that wut he does is seriously difficult. although sum stuff by BTBAM may seem more difficult because its faster, trust me ive been playin guitar for 7 years and they are all just scales, TFOT so much harder.

  • now u can say tfot sucks because u dont like their music which i can understand but ur a fuckin dumbass if u think BTBAM are better because their talent is better.

just to be clear i do like BTBAM im not hatin and im also not a stupid FCPREMIX only TFOT fan i know and can almost play any of their songs and ive been to countless concerts.

  • Wait, you actually think the Fall of Troy has more skill than BTBAM?! Is that a really bad joke?

  • do u play guitar?

  • Wait, are you one of those idiots who think that the faster you can play the guitar, the better you are? Waggoner is better than Erak hands down. Go find a role model that actually has some inspiration behind him.

  • I second that! :D

  • ur calling mme the idiot? read wut i said dipshit, "although sum stuff by BTBAM may seem more difficult because its faster, trust me ive been playin guitar for 7 years and they are all just scales, TFOT so much harder"

read before u shit outta ur mouth and btw look up lyrics to the dark trail, its about smokin oxycontin, talk about "inspiration"

  • Read the lyrics to EVERY SONG, each one is dedicated to a drug. These guys are a bunch of druggies! And again, you think that the harder (faster) a guitar part is, the better it is? Get your shit straight, it's about your creativity and what you can ADD to the music.

  • I was talking about Manipulator. Every song on that album is dedicated to a drug, The Fall of Troy are all druggies. btbam are vegans and vegetarians.

  • dude one song is the oths are about a close person to tom that he feels is a "manipultor"

in dark trail that person is a drug, in the others they are people. ANother big surpirse a pussy band that deosnt eat meat.

i just read the lyrics to about 6 or so songs og BTBAM, they talk about scratching their eyes out or like everyother band how people need to realize how strong they are. oo tough shit

  • The Fall of Troy are so amazing! :D

  • AND! COMPLETELY DRUG FREE!

  • They aren't all just scales, and nearly everything song comes from a scale. The exception being some forms of jazz. And, I'm sure some stuff might be easier, BUT the real point of the technique, or "skill", is to help the emotion come across easier.

  • @colt45shootr lol why would Paul get high? Why would the band incorporate drugs in all their songs? 3 of the bandmembers are straight-edge!

  • @colt45shootr you apparently are an idiot, i have been playing guitar for 12 years and i play both fall of troy and btbam.... the theory behind btbams music humbles fall of troy to the size of an ant, you need to practice your jazz theory buddy

  • @CheaKevinMercer scales scales n more scales. once u have the sweeping technique down and u can do scales fast, then u get shit like btbam. after ayear they have come to grow on me but i still respect thomas erak and the fall of troy a lot more. putting everything elese aside, thomas sings n screams while doing it which is near fuckin impossible

  • @colt45shootr get your shit straight..sweeping and screaming inst impossible :)

playing guitar isnt all about scales, right? you want real guitar, then listen to avenged sevenfold. i know btbam play more than scales too. never guess who i grew up with..

  • @xxyourmomx9 A7X? lol

  • @xxyourmomx9 avenged sevenfold is the biggest poser band, they are gay, i have respect for their past drummer, but other than that they are not that good, and the guitar playing is nowhere near to as intense and good as this, and BTBAM is not mainstream like them

  • @xxyourmomx9 Dude its not about how the guitar is played. This band is wayy more genius then a7x. The tempos change in the most technical ways its pure genius, a7x is all about shreding

  • Yes I love both bands and I hate FCPREMIX now since thats the only song anybody knows by TFOT, but I like BTBAM more for the fact of they don't seem like their being "as" pretentious as The Fall Of Troy when it comes to time signature changes and just weird parts.

I just like how BTBAM makes much smoother transitions between different time signatures and really awesome key changes plus I'm not a big punk fan and I can hear the BIG punk influence in TFOT.

  • yeah dude i totally respcet your opinion, you either like it or you dont, haha

  • I agree with you completely. The reason I think BTBAM makes much smoother transitions is because other bands go into different time sigs. for the sake of throwing people off or just going into a different time sig. BTBAM does it because it feels right to do it in that particular part of that particular song with their particular style. They just make music the way they want, that's it. They don't do anything just to do it, they do it because it sounds good, if it doesn't fit, they don't do it.

  • yea its also like necrophagist.

they do it for the sake of they just wanna give it a weird feel and throw people off a lot but there is nothing wrong with that.

but there is something wrong if your changing time signatures literally every measure for an entire song. i'd probably hate the song but at the same time have a lot of respect for whoever is playing it lol.

  • supremebeing87,

I love the way you worded that, and you're so right. I've listened to so many bands that sound exactly like the stereotypical metal band - noise.

    BTBAM disproves that stereotype.

  • Everything is "just scales", they're what make music etc. But BTBAM use various complex and lesser used scales, not commonly used in Western music, in each of their song, which really give color to their music, and the technicality in incorporating multiple scales into one song is what make them just so good.

  • im not saying that the scales makes the music bad, im just saying as a musician myself, scales are easier to play thats all.I also have a man crush on thomas erak just because he literally IS TFOT. (writes all the music for all the instruments and lyrics and sings and scremas and plays the guitar) wow

  • But what doesn't make sense is the way you're using the word scales, any and every song is in a scale, whether you purposely wanted to play in the scale or not, a scale is just a set of w/e notes you want in a song, and notes are consistant points in the spectrum that is sound, music. When you say scales are easy to play it also doesn't make sense, major and minor scales of course are easy, that's what most songs have, but use of intricate scales and key changes in songs are much more difficult.

  • right i was talking about minor and major scales and my point being no matter how fast u play them, still pretty easy. The Human Abstract are the epitome of fast minor and major scales. Theyre still beast though

  • K, I agree on that, speed is a seperate technique all together that has nothing to do with the complexity of the scale or scales you're using when you're playing. :)

  • Actually, you don't al ways need a scale buddy. Have you ever heard of something called a 13th chord? It's not a scale but you still can write a song with it.

  • Um, that doesn't make any sense, first off it's not that you "need" a scale, any song or piece you will play always has a scale b/c scales are just notes. Secondly, of course scales are needed; they describe the angle, point, or drive of a particular piece or song to help one understand it and learn from it etc. And thirdly, A song, for example, built on a theoretically complete C13, which has 7 distinct notes, would basically be the same as C Dominant/Mixolydian, which is a pretty common scale.

  • why do i even here the name fall of troy in between the buried and me area?????? dont even mention them in this territory, never heard much but dont have to btbam are FUCKING GODS when listenening to them jus talk about btbam cause no bands resemble or alike as them so shut the fuck up and appreciate bitches

  • this song has the best breakdown ever. i love it.

  • This is one of my favorite solos. Paul is such a creative guitarist.

  • The Fall of Troy is great. Just saw them live last May.

  • Sick band, fall of troy is gay and their gay ass progressive rock genre is also very gay. This band is sick though, metalcore ftw.

  • BTBAM is progressive metal

  • Progressive metalcore, according to wikipedia. ; )

  • Wikipedia is pretty good on the subject of music, but not entirely specific, it likes to generalize some things. :)

  • To be more specific it's progressive deathcore. :D

  • That's very contradictory dude, these guys are also prog, the only difference is that Troy incorporate more Punk sound and rhythm into their songs. :)

  • why is it that we can't just enjoy the music and not have to rag on other bands just to be dicks? listen to the fuckin music, enjoy it, then fucking leave!

  • Word.

  • lol b/c in life there are plenty of dicks.

  • what she said.

  • Yes!!!!

  • dream theatre is great there musicianship is fantastic but i think btbam has alot more sounds, and btbam musicianship is amazing also. i just h8 the attitude of dreamtheatre fans and prog rock. they feel like they know everything about music when i find thats not even close to the truth.

  • Well put. The whole fan thing has gotten out of hand, the "Holier than thou" attitude about them and the music they listen to is annoying as fuck.

I'm a DT fan but not the kind you speak of.

    Cheers.

  • Fuck ear candy! This is ear crack!!!! I can't get enough. I wanna make love to this music. Then I want to run through a wall like the Kool-Aid man with my testicles on fire!

  • Dude, you've got problems.

  • get help

  • lol u get thumbs up for making me laugh at least =P -- first time ever hearing these guys, awesome song

  • i like some bits of it, but im not gonna lie, Dream Theater are the gods.

  • this band is pushing music, fuck all the other half ass bands im seeing on here listen to BTBAM

  • I don't like Metalcore very much at all, but BTBAM pisses on Dream Theater.

  • i was looking through FOT message board and i heard of these guys, i dont really like them...? its actually pretty bad and stuff, it just, i usually dont say this about a band i just heard of but they suck! ASS

  • I love Fall of Troy, but these guys absolutely destroy them in every way.

  • I couldn't agree more with that comment. This music has more content in it than FOT... I'm not saying FOT's bad though.

  • btbam > the fall of troy. although i love both bands on an enjoyable listening level. between the buried and me's talent just blows away the fall of troy's. and let's not even get into skill..

    btbam > fall of troy

  • fall of troy is good but def not btbam haha not close

  • White Walls is fuckin' unbelievable.

  • viridian's bass solo into white walls may be the most intense piece of music of the last 20 years.

  • ahem brother

  • white walls and ants of the sky are my 2 favorites on colors but anyways this song is pretty fucking good i love how the entire band is so able to combine so much melody yet aggression in every song on this cd

  • i love how they fuse other styles of music, like how they switch modes and scales at the circus-sounding part of the song towards the end.Fuck all of you homo-gay-gay sceneters...this is the way (dao) that hard-core should have gone!

  • I agree. The transition in "Prequel..." is fucking awesome. And the fact that they have the lead singer of Fear Before The March Of Flames on there makes it that much better. I would have to say my 2 favorite songs are Prequel to the Sequel and White Walls, but I just love the whole damn CD.

And just on a side-note: this isn't necessarily hardcore. It's progressive metalcore.

    Cheers!

  • its actually the end's singer thats in prequel to the sequel i believe

  • He sang with them live, but on the album it's the singer from FBTMOF.

  • They're one of my favorite Prog Metal bands. Brilliant!

  • Amazing! Checked some top 10 Album of the year, and BTBAM and Nile was quiet close.. But BTBAM is alot better, and his growl is good actualy. Nils vocals wasnt that good, but the drummer and guitars was very talentful.

But still, my compenion! BTBAM got the "Album of the year"

  • lol according to ultimate guitar rite

  • Nile didn't do as good as I expected on Ithyphallic. It just seems like a watered-down version of Annihilation. It's not bad at all, but I just think they could have done much better on it.

And this album definately deserves to be #1. Greatest album of the year BY FAR!

  • yeh i doubly agree, although papyrus... and the essential salts are incredible, they bow to lashed to the slave stick and user-maat-re IMO.

  • Best Nile song by far is Annihilation of the Wicked. Heavy chugging at the beginning, but goes into crazy guitar and drum work you'd expect from Nile.

  • growl shit? dude what the fuck seriously dont try to downgrade a band like this.. more talented than any other band i have ever heard.

  • if you dont like his vocals, dont listen to them you fuckstick, your not worthy.

  • lol

  • "tuffdog69" haha fuckstick..... at least I'm trying to get into them, I think there one of the better bands of the genre, but any songs w/out the opeth vox?

  • Opeth's singer actually sings more than he screams.

And yes, there are plenty of songs...but most of them have both the screaming and singing in them.

    Check out Backwards Marathon.

  • This band seems line an Opeth rip-of to me.I'm not saying that is necesery a bad thing, but I don't think it's good either. They should be more original.

  • come on. youre bashing btbam because you think they need to be more original?...word.

    just sayin, theyre frkn brilliant

  • Opeth rip??? how? explain please, if they're ripping anyone its def. dream theater, their music is like dream theater but for the hardcore/scene fan base..

  • Dream theater? AHAH

  • tone def?

  • been trying to get into them but the vox kill it for me, any other songs where they don't do the whole growl shit?

  • they are one of my favorite new bands. so versatile.

  • i love the part around 4:20 when the drummer catches all of the figures that the guitars are playing, i think it's called tutti in Italian...fucking brutal!

  • btbam's use of time signature changes is second to none. only some of the craziest prog-jazz-fusion rivals it and oh wait...arent the guitarists both jazz masters?hmm might have something to do with why they rule

  • i agree, they should collaborate w/ Al di Meola, or chick corea. I wish jazz/fusion artist would play more blast-beats and stuff more like this...

  • That's the coolest thing anyone's ever thought of.

  • hahahaha what's the deal with dream evil at the end!? lmao xD

quality song anyway! btbam fuckin OWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • alright short and sweet now:

    4/4

bottom 4=what type of note will be used to measure the time. (4 is a quarter note, 8 is an 8th note, 16 is a 16th note)

top 4=how many of that bottom note are in the measure.

so 4/4=four quarter notes per measure...I can't fit in my in-depth explanation, sorry.

  • damnit, it's too big or something, i've tried to post twice now but it keeps bugging out on me...hopefully they show up eventually because i explained it pretty damn well given the space given on these things.

  • Damnit my first post didn't show up...hold on I'll explain it again for ya E.

  • A timing like 21/16 would be a 16th note based time signature with 21 16th's a measure in it...I hope I helped you at least a little bit with time signatures...because sheet music is not really necessary for determining time.

  • if u look at music for BTBAM they actually change time alot... anywhere from 4/4 to 21/16 its pretty friggin nuts

  • i mean how to you tell time changes?

  • man the albums great i kinda like ants in the sky best of all though

  • yeah, it's definitely a simple meter

  • This is an interesting song. I am not a fan of 'em, but a friend sent me a link to this song. I did not dig at first, but by the 3:14 mark I was enjoying it.

  • yeah, I love this band. I didn't know they are going to release a new record.

  • it's already released

  • at 4:27-4:50 can anyone please tell me the timing on that part? im counting 12/4 but something is telling im completely wrong. that part is by far the best part of the song.

  • its actually 4/4

  • how can you tell?

  • when u look at the sheet music it shows the time

  • how can u not fucking tell that they change times.

god damn. and why the fuck would have to look at sheet music to find that out?

    fuck some people are dumb

  • your sooo fucking stupid u answered my question with a fucking stupid statement ur were suppose to say hte counts on 4/4 and 21/16 counts

  • read my explanation yo!

  • because i just started counting in 4/4 and it fit? durrrrrr

  • Yeah it's 4/4.

  • Strangely, it's 4/4

  • Whos chaz

  • love this song

    any1 got the lyrics yet?

  • I never paid much attention to BTBAM but I'm really considering buying this album now that I've heard some of their new stuff.

  • A band that's from where I live was in the same studio as them when they were recording this, and I guess the guitarist was so anal that he had to get EVERYTHING correct in recording, and actually recorded the whole song without the repeat sections. So yeah, I do believe they are some of the best musicians out there.

  • BTBAM is one of my favorite bands. second only to Opeth (in my eyes dont be hatin on other peoples tastes.) In many ways BTBAM are the best musicians ive ever heard.

  • this album is one of the most technically diverse albums i've ever listened to. they incorporate things you couldn't even imagine. i mean bluegrass hoe down kinda music and jazz solos it's absolutely amazing what these guys do. paul waggoner and dusty are absolutely fantastic guitarists

  • I am going to kill one person for everyday i have to wait for thsi album.

  • if i dont get this album my face will fall off

  • that ant song is better but it'll be a great album none the less

  • LMAO

    ...Jazz.

    & at the end... METAAAAAALLLL!!

    Soooo buying this album.

  • lol that aint the real endinng that guy just put taht at the end XD

  • i like Foam Born

and even though i have it

    I WILL BUY IT

i have every btb&m cd so far

    and ive met them,

    got to support <3

  • i sware to god if they dont make mad money of this cd cuz dickhead people ripped it off the internet. whoever ripped better fuckin buy it.

  • I originally had no intention of listening to this until the 18th, but my cousin downloaded it onto his ipod, the whole album. I couldn't stop him from playing it, so I heard the whole thing. I am definately still going to buy it when it comes out because it's so amazing. Just wait til you hear ants of the sky, probably their best song of all time.

  • Hell yea. Ants in the Sky is by far their best song in my opinion. It has EVERYTHING in it. It is the only song on the album that I listen to out of turn of all of the others songs.

  • I like "Sun of Nothing." I think that's my fav on the album.

  • my friend just got colors on my computer, so i burned it...and i just want to say, this song is NOTHING (still good) but NOTHING compared to the rest of the albulm. this is a very different BTBAM album, but the thing is, unlike other bands that can actually pull off being "different"

  • yo do you think you could email me a couple of these songs. it would mean a lot, im dying to here the new stuff

  • From 3:58 on reminds me of Dream Theater... But I love both BTBAM and Dream Theater so it's cool. I can't wait for this album. I'm buying two copies to compensate for the fucks that download it.

  • I downloaded it, but I am definitely buying this album the day it comes out. No question about it.

  • 4;27 - 4:50 is simply orgasmic

  • 3:16 breakdown. I love it.

  • new black dahlia murder comes out the same day if im not mistaken
