@dunngar my friend, please learn history before saying such vile things. The French Church authorized her to be General-in-Chief of the armies of France. She was captured by enemies that remained, and sold to the English, who were bitter about losing to a girl. They set up a false and rigged inquisition, that in no way represented a true inquisition. Joan was denied council with the Pope, because the English knew he would free her. Later the trial was declared invalid, and the priests heretical.

I agree, most people today are ignorant of historical fact. People watch hollywood movies and believe the events within the movies to be fact. My friends hate watching movies about historical events with me.

Y'know, the ancient Germanian tribes had women that fought alongside them in battle during the age of the Romans, I believe. I guess Catholicism just didn't like women wielding weapons. They ruined a lot of good things in history, but I think they might have had some positive influences too.

I was dissapointed by this movie. The costumes and settings are good, combat scenes are also good. However I think Jeanne gets portrayed here as some half loony girl that screams all the time. Also not liking the Dustin hoffman scenes much. And portraying her is all that counts imo.

Leelee Sobieski'sa movie of Joan Of Arc is much better then Milla Jovovich's I've seen both movie's and more people have loved Leelee's more then Milla's. Leelee movie is worth five starts, Milla's is worth NO stars at all.
