Well, if you actually watch the episode, not only is he "off limits", but through his naivety, he's the only man whose shown her compassion and interest beyond her body. When they first meet--after she sings--she's disappointed that no one gave a damn about her song. She even thinks that Homer is about to ridicule her as well. Instead, he's the ONLY person to compliment her talents and pushes her to use them. That's why she falls for him. This is a surprisingly good song too.

It is said Homer is a catch throughout the series. He must have a really weird way of showing it. I guess underneath all that fat, he really is a good guy.

@TheDanteEX He is. So the thing about Homer (and why I like the character) is that no matter what nonsense he pulls and shenanigans he finds himself in, when the chips are down, he loves and trusts Marge completely and he loves his kids and he would do anything for them. He's a great character.
