  • I personally don't agree with the pronunciation of the words, but I do like the song.

  • 5******

  • The meaning of this song is stunning (Google the lyric translation, that's how I found it since I speak neither Middle English nor Latin).

"Earth conquers castles and towers on Earth and then Earth says to Earth 'This is all ours'", it feels like mankind/earth hasn't grown from the Middle Ages at all!

  • Nice video song and performance Tanya

  • OMG I LOVE THIS SONG, So amazing

  • Can I play this music with a flute??

  • Where are those pictures in the video from?

  • @Luishazong hi, all the pictures are mostly from Burgundy, cities of Dijon and Beaune, but there's also some images of Lyon. All in France.

  • @Zaharat9 really beatufil picture :o

  • its 15th century English and some Latin

  • Can someone help me telling what is the language they´re singing? I can´t understand, so, I used Google Translator, but I don´t know the language...

    Thank you. I´m from Brazil.

  • @bruxojim It's Gaelic or Old English thats the two most common laguages they sing in

  • @jg2021 Thanx.

  • @bruxojim It's middle english from the 1300s-1400s.. Prior to the great vowel shift that distinguished modern english (Shakespeare wrote in early modern english). There's a little latin thrown in as the chorus to this poem/song. Old English is the Anglo-Saxon language from prior to the norman invasion of england in 1066. Middle English (and later Modern English) are mixes of Old English and Old Norman (Old French).

  • @bruxojim They are singing in Middle English.

  • awesome!

  • -Vanity Vanity all is Vanity.

  • I have no words for how peaceful this music is. just sitting here listening to it, feels like ...like I've been listening to it my whole life instead of just discovering it a few minutes ago.

  • The poem is anything but peaceful - look at what it means. It's a call for peasant rebellion against the rich.

  • @boguspurr Actually its not. Its an admonishment of greed and vanity, a peasant rebellion would only commit the same levels of vanity and excess as the rich. Its a message about being satisfied with what you have, not to strive beyond your means for the sake of mean pride: as it says:

Erthe upon erthe wolde be a kinge

Bot how erthe to erthe shall thinkes he no thinge

When erthe bredes erthe and his rentes home bringe

Thane shall erthe of erthe have full harde parting...

  • Great song - thanks for posting!

  • Such a sweet melody. Well done with the video.

  • Excuse me dirtyjew1974 but I listen to hip hop, as well as this kind of music and classical guitar music and other genres and there is no hip hop group with the name "babes" in it. There is no need to put down another genre of music or artists in order to give praise to others. Another fantastic performance by these ladies...

  • who the uck voted "no"

  • Wonderful group! I love their name as well. An attractive group with a very attractive original sound.

  • eretz al eretz

  • Singing, music and pictures are all wonderful. The Baebes are truly talented.

  • I love this song :)

  • lolso nice

    i love Mediaeval Baebes

  • I love their music but i just dont like the name of the group. I think the name is pretentious. calling yourself baebes sounds like something hip hop and dont fit their sound.

  • They make me so happy. :-)

  • Check out,,,AUTUMN TEARS-The Eloquent Sleep...

  • The Mediaeval Baebes -- came for the name, stayed for the music. Absolutely incredible act!

  • gosh, very nice and perfect music 2 it

  • Such gorgeous harmonies, I love a good harmony and this song delivers.

  • I met the Mediaeval Baebes when i went to see them live in Leicester. :) they are awsome and i love there music :)

There voices are so angelic .

  • thanx for ur message... lucky you.. i tried to see them but that year they've cancelled the joust, (flood issues)... hope u like the composition i've made...

  • @Zaharat9 I've uploaded a few vids from Joust 2006, the last one before the floods.

  • @maksphoto78 thanx ... i wanted to go on 2007.... but.... no luck for me..

  • I've met the baebes when they did a performance at berkely castle for 2 years running, as part of their armed escort to the stage (berkely was a medieval re-enactment)

they're such lovely people, very down to earth and so talented, the live performance was mind-blowing, and if they read this comment, sorry but couldn't resist a peek in the back plate of the man in front :)

  • And boy did they need the escort :)

Don't worry, you weren't the only one trying to get a peek. They were fantastic both years.

Had several thousand re-enactors baying for blood.

  • So little comments, love this song, don't ever take it of youtube.

  • all the photos are from Burgundy (mostly Dijon city) and Lyon in France, thanx for ur comments =)
