sprocket762, do you mind saying how the charging affected you electricity rates? I see a LOT of information on the EV1 but never any info on electricity bills/ useage. I LOVE the EV1 and would purchase one today if it were available. I'm also jealous of you having the opportunity to experience the EV1, they weren't offered in my area of the USA. Thanks for your posts.
Now i was led to believe these things took ages to charge, that said 1 hr and 36 minutes if im not mistaken, from 36% charge. Thats pretty f***en quick i reckon, and id be more than happy with that!! Where ever i drive my car now is usually under 20 miles, and it could sit there (and usually does) for 9-10 hrs, so charging times wouldnt be an issue to me at all even if they were 4 times that.
Yes the charging was not too bad on the Gen 1's. The time was very non-linear, it would get to 80% fairly quick but the last 20% took the longest. The Gen 2 charging would take approx 4 hours for a full charge.
the fact that GM leased the cars was probably one of the most evil things ever that theyve done, when you watch who killed the electric car, certain comments are made towards the end, one especially by the guy in the car museum "gm deactivated them, they had to & we understand that" um...what part of that is understandable? & why did they "have to" they did it because they never had any intention on doing the right thing from the start, they just wanted to be "seen" as doing the right thing
sure man, lets give them to the chinese, they make everything almost perfect. in a year, we will see many of the fakes in the global markets at a cheap price. for once i support china cloning a great product
GM needs to bring back the awesom electric car called the EV1. Go to wikipedia to check out the EV1 and watch the film called, "Who killed the electric car". Youtube doesn't allow URLs, so I'm tweaking the URL, but here's where you can ask them to bring it back:
That's so sad that they destroyed this car or even worse, put into museum! Seems like progress in this civilization goes into the toilet, thanks to tycoons who hog all the money from oil.
such an awesome car :,( too bad they aren't around anymore

There seemed to be a lot of noise once you started charging, does anyone know what that noise was? Sounded like an exhaust fan or something?
adslong1986 2 years ago
The sound you hear is the cooling fan on the charger to keep the heat down on the inductive charging station.

do you have any footage of the gen 2 before it got recalled? thanks for these videos. GM really blew it that car looked like a lot of fun.

I took some pitures but sadly did not take any video when I returned the Gen2 . . . wish I had. It was blue.

They probably still have the blueprints. Someone go get the EV1's blueprints and a couple hundred million bucks and let's get this thing going again.
