  • Malachy was very close to Frank. They suffered together when they were kids, and so did Michael and Alphie. God bless them and their loved ones.

  • "A monk swimming" was my all time favorite book... EVERRR! I am a voracious reader. I have read a million books. That one had me literally in stitches!

  • Besides anyone that has read 'A Monk Swimming' would agree...it would make a fantastic movie! Wild, unexpected and full of what Americans like...ribald, hilarious self-destruction...nothing like destroying the self to bring Americans to the heel of forgivenesss.

  • @alwaysflowers Brendan Gleeson has just bought the rights to make a film of A Monk Swimming.

  • yeah fine...but I say...this is MALACHY McCourt...not Frank...and he's a damn fine writer in his own. Now I see how it is to be the bretheren of a great man, even if you're a great man yourself, yet discovered second...sad,it is. Frank was wonderful...as is Malachy for their own, individual reasons...let it be.

  • look they did nothing wrong by making a book it was quite lovely. and they said how it was , yeah it was ruff but what do you want him to say, he wrote a great book and dont criticize the man when he cant defend himself , leave him alone ,no grandmothers should be mad,no limerick should be hating anyone, he told how limerick was , if it was bad then face it, it's bad thats it .

    RIP FRANK McCourt

  • y because they told the truth about the past and how shitty limerick was in the past not evryone myt of had as bad tym as theese but thesse had a crap lifee n pulled through it so its gelousy

  • y do the limerik h8 the mcCourts??

  • Malacy McCourt was said to be "outrageous and opinionated and a disgrace to the Irish"(imdb) That may or may not be true. Anyhoo, this clip is too long for all he says in it.

  • Come home to Ireland where people will appreciate you for what ytou are and you can then drop the whole show and just relax.

  • I agree, but a lot of Limerick HATES the McCourts

  • I actually find this to be true. I once mention the book "Angela's Ashes" to my grandmother who was born and bread in Limerick; she came to this country in 1927. She was disgusted by the book; she said it was an insult to the Irish people. She almost took my head off. "Not every Irishman grew up like that!" She insisted.
