  • This intro scared the hell out of everybody !

  • Just agreeing with everyone else that the opening theme always scared me when I was little. In fact, I had to go to the other room just now because I got those familiar chills up and down my spine lol.

  • i have always think that nobody will never remember the hitch hiker..one word..PRICELESS..

  • i remember watching this with my dad as a young boy, the nostalgia is fucking killing me....

  • equally as frightening as the unsolved mysteries theme which also makes me shit a big one.

  • Wow. My parents had HBO when I was a kid in '85 and I remember watching this show. This really took me back, thanks.

  • Dissonance = Scary-ness for little kids. You do not get that anymore because many 'composers' these days do not have a great imagination when it comes to composition. That's just my opinion as an educated musician, take it for what it's worth.

  • Hitchhikers are not like this. Most of them are nice interesting people. Please stop travel impaired discrimination.

  • @pinkfloyd4241 Stopping "Travel Impaired Discrimination" is something I would totally get behind, just for the name alone. You made me smile, and think. Good times.

  • what a prick

  • Yup, scared the crap out of me as a kid. Still gives the creeps. Why is it so damn creepy? Lol. Always an interesting show.

  • So glad I wasn't the only one who got the crap scared out of them when they would hear this theme song play when they were little!

  • the hitchhiker great movie great sound its a long time

every since little boy to 28 years old god bless victor colston

  • @hopefuljoy1 im 28 too I used to watch this when i was young when it used to play on usa.

  • Wow! Does this show ever bring back memories. I used to watch this as a young teenager and I knew once this show came on....the clothes on some beautiful women came off! The best T&A show HBO ever had to date. Thanks for putting me through puberty.

  • best intro ever. the guy looks like a complete badass, he should have been a star. anyone has the intro with a louder sound?

  • That theme song used to creep me out.

  • This show, along with Unsolved Mysteries, had the scariest theme music EVER!

  • i loved this show! my mom let me stay up an watch when my dad was awy on business. i miss it

  • So this show is like "Twilight Zone," that is, if Rod Serling was a grungy, mullet-haired drifter.

  • i love the rattlesnake and is that a dying cow or a pissed of cat in this theme

  • @xxxDiRtChEwxxx bwahahahahaha! ;-)

  • There's about over 80 episodes,but i only watch about 25 to 30 of them.Face to face,man at the window,the killer,w.g.o.d,true believer,minuteman,doctors orders,billy baltimore,best shot(my favorite),joker,homebodies,made for each other,in living color,striptease,studio 3x,cruelest cut,strate shooter,pawns,fading away,tough guys dont whine,square deal,hit and run,living a lie,made in paris,a whole new you.There's a few others,but these are the one's that i can watch over and over.

  • I love you horsie111

  • this was one of the strangest shows from the early 90s, saw reruns

  • This was not an HBO show, we never had HBO when I was growing up and I watched this every week.

  • The tune does not sound scary or suspensful but more like a cool 80's song :)

  • lol right......ha ha ha hitchiking not a lost art but walking is lol....i never seen this video his pants are really tight i bet he has a bad wedgie

  • the hitch hiker rules in the u s a up all night

  • @nelsoncook It was on usa up all night, i thought it came on like weeknights back then

  • this show rocks i used to watch it when i was a kid it came on the u s a and saterday nightmares and up all night u s a used to rock in the 80s

  • Creepiest opening to a TV show of all time!

  • oh the nostalgia , i used to watch silk stalkings and then this when i was four, lay at the edge of my parents bed scared like a little brat

  • These were great!

  • Oooooh I used to watch this with my mom! I was born in '83 and watched reruns, so to me as a kid, it was definitely scary! Now looking back, his ass was the best part. I just didn't think of it as a kid :P

  • He looks tough & handsome

  • This guy looks tough

  • love the theme music

  • Walking around in the desert by yourself is a good way to relax and calm the mind. Until it gets dark.

  • Good to know I'm not the only one who was scared by this intro theme.

  • I use to stay up late just to watch this part of the show till my mom would yell at me to get to sleep!! Scary music & a hot hitchhiker in tight jeans?!! AWESOMEψ(`∇´)ψ!! I love this show!!

  • This show was awesome! A truly frightening series...I remember well, and loved it!

  • Change the channel........change the channel!!!!!!!!!

  • Sci-Fi should air this series. The 80s had the best horror/mystery shows. I don't know what has happened to creativity in Hollywood. It seems like every show is a clone of another show.

  • i live in the bay area, i remember watching this on KOFY-TV20 cause back in 88, i remember watch this, TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE, NEW OUTTER LIMITS and FREDDY KRUEGER NIGHTMARES, and all those 3 shows were scarey to me now, now im in my 30s, i wanna relive it so i can get scared again

  • this theme song scared the crap out of me when I was little..

  • O.M.G I remember this show when I was a little boy man I miss the 80s. :))

  • Funny...I wonder if any of these rappers today could flow off an intro like this

  • ARIZONA. GOOD SHOW NO DOUBT

  • I really feel like that guy.

  • when I was a kid...this intro meant one thing.....BOOBIES!

  • i used to watch this show all the time on hbo & usa network when i was a kid..my folks throw a fit when they see me watch this show...some of the episodes were scary and too adult for me...would be great to see the episodes of this show again.

  • ISRAEL DID 9/11!

    WANT PROOF?

    911MISSINGLINKS / COM

  • This was an awesome show that used to be on HBO and then the USA network. My favorite episode is the one with the couple who enter a diner over and over again. Forgot the title of that one, but it was cool!

  • I saw that episode as a child and is my favorite too, the title is something about time, it shows a tremendous issue about the real value of things, I would love to see it again

  • show used to scare the piss out of me as a kid damn the 80's were awesome

  • I remember this show! It was pretty good!!! Thanks for posting!

  • Anyone know when will there be a good decent Season 1 DVD release sometime in the near future?

  • This old theme song of a classic HBO show still scares the hell out of me and gives the chills every time LOL.

  • same here, love this show...i'm 40...still love this show..

  • Some great episodes,''face to face'',''billy baltimore'',''homebodies'',''hit and run'',''true believer'',''w.g.o.d'',''made for each other'',''joker'',''the killer''(which the movie high tension ripped off) and my favorite episode ''best shot'',with the guy from ''thirty something'',playing a sleazebag lawyer, who tries to cover up running some guy down on a highway. There's quite a few more pretty good ones also, check em out

  • @TheGatorfan93 billy baltimore had Andy Summers from the Police in it. That was a classic.

  • @zapdelivers Haha i know, that's one of my favorites.Brad douriff(who is the voice of chucky)was great, had alot of memorable lines.Especially at the end when he tells alley about how rock n roll destroyed his father. So intense, great, GREAT episode.

  • I can remember this show intro as a kid, but I never watched it since I was too young at the time. I wish Sci Fi would air this show.

  • I never missed an episode as a kid. They should replay them on that Chiller network.

  • The "dying cow" (or "angry cat") and rattlesnake sounds are such a perfect combo, especially with the Southwestern backdrop. Knight Rider also had a kickass intro.

  • @IggyHazard Yeah, I love all the desert motifs.... Seems people were obsessed with the desert back in the 80's. Curly hair adn leather jackets too... LOL

  • Best intro music ever. It just worms its way into your very soul!

  • What a butt on Page Fletcher!

  • @knmlover yes indeed!!!! never watched an entire episode of the series, only the opening credits just to see page fletcher's hot butt!!!! damn he filled those jeans to perfection!!!!!

  • From the days when someone could hitchhike without taking his life in his hands.

  • lmao me too.

  • Looking at his ass used to give me such a boner as a teenager.

  • is it only me or did anyone else watch this show just for the openining sequence of watching that hunk page fletcher's GOREGEOUS ass in those tight jeans? hot looking in front and even better in the back, he looks good coming and going! i'd love to smear whipped cream and chocolate sauce on his delectable butt and lick it off! yum!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Remember he used to be like Where's Waldo when he would appear across the street in a clip and be like "There the hitchhiker!"

  • awesome show my dad used to let me stay up with him on saturday night to watch this the 80's rocked todays tv is reality show crap

  • good grief why did you guys have to dig out these old HBO intros? LOL. Both the old 1980s movie primetime intro scared the hell out of me along with the theme song of the Hitchhiker tv show. Thanks alot LOL

  • I LOVED THIS INTRO MUSIC AS A KID. ITS JUST BRILIANT! IT TOTALLY PACKAGED THE WHOLE FEEL OF THE SHOW! THE FIRST EPISODES WERE GREAT, THEY WERE REALLY AHEAD OF OF THEIR TIME. AS TIME WENT ON THE STORY QUALITY BEGAN TO WANE? I DONT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED? BUT THE WRITTING DID TAKE A DIVE TIL THEY PULLED THE SERIES? BUT, ITS STILL GREAT TO HAVE NOSTALGIA FINDING IT ON YOUTUBE. WHOEVER POSTED THESE CLIPS - THANKS A MILLION!!! I LOVED THIS SHOW AS A KID! THANK YOU SO MUCH! STAT.

  • such a good bum (y)

    loved this show!!

  • So many footage that scared us back in the 80s:

    The Hitchhiker

    HBO Intro

    MTV Animated Promos

    Music Videos.

  • Did Page Fletcher have a great booty or what?

  • wasnt this on showtime as well??? any1 know?????

  • @mgk357 It was never on Showtime, but it was on HBO and USA Network when both networks were fun to watch.

  • @cheapcape Didn't Page Fletcher eventually star in an episode, himself?

  • Ah yeah, I remember late nights on HBO watching this uncut, uncensored, unhinged. USA had to cut out a lot of things becuase they were trying not to piss anybody off thought. Then again, I'd take an editied Hitchhiker over the now Law and Order network.

  • @newstarcadefan Good one calling today's USA The Law And Order Network, lol! Indeed, USA sucks shit now.

  • i loved this guy, so hot...but creepy show

  • @SotaLappar 100% agree :)

  • Makes me want to go hitch hiking right now! Ok, the music is creepy as hell!

  • Pretty creepy!

  • The intro song scares the shit out of me...and I'm an adult. LOL

  • the mullet man, great show.

  • lol, this was the shit ...i love it!

  • speaking of which, anyone remember the 5-minute clips/short films (to fill time) they use to have??? One had an old man building a giant mouse trap. Another had a man fishing using an apple.

  • @2000heynow but those clips were horror or funny?

  • @zafrier

    lol they were actually both!

but u know what I'm talking about, right?

  • @2000heynow sorry, never heard of them :(

  • @2000heynow I remember those clips. I think they were even called "HBO SHORTS"...They were like used for filler between odd timed programs. Usually after an HBO Boxing Special Event or a comedy concert Standing Room Only. God I loved HBO when it was new-it kinda sucks ass now-theres too many HBO's (when and why did that happen?-oh well-marketing?) My Fav HBO Short of all time HARD WARE WARS-A great spoof on Star Wars. Loved it! Ok, now I feel old-and a little spoiled for having HBO as a kid? WTF

  • @TheStaticage01 HBO Shorts, gotcha, thanks, man

  • Charles Page Fletcher had a great ass in those days.

  • @rafaelmexico i'll say....he was the only reason i even BOTHERED watching the series just so i could se that FANTASTIC ass of his in the opening sequence!!!!

  • @darchylde612 Whoever sees him Hitch hiking first gets to do him then OK ^_^

  • @JuanMamaril you got it....now i just have to make sure i see him hitchhiking first lol!!!!

  • @SuperCat i don't know but i wish he were doing me lol! damn he was soooo hot and had such a SWEET ass!!!!

  • im only 29 but rememeber watching these sometimes growing up

that and tales from the darkside, both scared the piss out of me, especially darkside intro lol

  • @bottle2lip you hit it right on the head about that tales from the darkside intro, i remember a moment when i woke up late at night with the tv on and that came on, i thought my heart was about to pop out of my chest LOL!!!!

  • @bottle2lip I'm 29 as well and I remember USA Saturday nights too. I remeber them always playing that movie with the little black slugs that would jump into peoples mouths.

  • You are not the only one, ironically we can be sentimental on these series

  • Hmm, I wanna make a .gif image of 0:01-0:18 and just watch it repeat over... and over... and over...

  • His ass looked great in those jeans!

  • I used to enjoy this show every Saturday night. I was always glued to the set. THIS along with:

    Tales from the Darkside

    The Twilight Zone (1985)

    Unsolved Mysteries

    Friday the 13th (Series)

Today's generation has no idea what their missing. The 80's, a great decade of horror and fright.

  • @putinblood RIGHT ON!!!!! Saturday nights (every saturday night) after Empty Nest, Cops and Americas Most wanted, my cousin and i (who were born in 1981) would pop in front of the tv in our He man and ninja turlte pajamas at 10 pm and watch Monsters, Tales from Darkside, Friday the 13th: The series and then Tales from the Crypt. Then u'd get up sunday morning, go ouside, shoot some hoops, watch WWF wrestling at 10a.m and go out after a fried bologna sandwich and kool aid and wrestle.

  • @jonsmom1 81- thebest yr ever! we grew up in an awesome decade for tv/movies

  • What a fuckin awesome theme song

  • the hitchhiker is a great show

  • the hitchhiker is a great show

  • it's sad that people didn't pay close attention to this show other than the popular intro. There were some good episodes and mediorce ones in between to say the least.

  • ''Best shot'' is my favorite, with the guy from ''thirty something'' who plays a sleazebag lawyer who tries to cover up a hit and run accident.Great GREAT episode. They had some pretty good ones(true believer, minuteman, billy baltimore, the killer)

  • Ha ha. Man, it's good to know I wasn't the only one who got scared whenever this show came on. Never really watched the show, though. At least until USA started running it, years later. I agree, the theme was the most memorable part of the whole show.

  • I remember this telefilm, I loved this telefilm a long time ago.

    When I'm a little boy...

  • the show was ehhh. but the opening and theme song was the best part of the whole thing

  • Had some kinky scenes for the time!!!!!

  • This theme rules. I love how scary it is!!

  • This used to scare me so bad when I was little!! lol

  • hahaha I was 3 or 4 when this used to come on. Im glad to know Im not the only one that used to get freaked out by the theme!

  • this show use to scare the crap out of me when I was little. @kim24may the show like the title is about this guy that travels and get in to twilight zone involving monsters, magic and other crazy stuff he was kind of like a traveling detective who ended up in these situations.

  • oh yeah, I remember seeing this intro when I was little. I used to freak out after the first 3 seconds, frantically looking for the remote to flip to another channel!! haha but now, it's not that scary. It's a little eerie and it def suits the theme. Maybe the reason why it sounded scary to me is because of the sound of a whip synchronized with the rhythm. That really gave me chills! lol

  • i would always see the intro of this show but never actually watched it, what was this show about?

  • haha I know, same here!! Actually, the more I listen to it, the more unnerving it gets, especially when it reaches 0:18! But I never really get what this show was about 'cause the intro gave way for the mystery-thriller theme. lol

  • the show was about men and women who struggle with the best and worst in themselves, battling with - and all too often succumbing to - their deepest lusts, obsessions and fears.

  • this song scared me when i was younger, haha...never saw the show but i always thought he was a killer that would kill people he hitched rides from

  • The guy is cute!

  • The Hitchhiker guy's hot..who is the actor ? I recently got into this series (I was born in 1980 and never saw this series since it was an early 80's series) but I do love it. They don't make great TV like they used to anymore. Love it.

  • @AmericanEvita the hottie in the opening credits w/the tight jeans and spectacular ass is actor page fletcher....

  • @AmericanEvita His name is Page Fletcher...he's done a fair body of work if you search him out on IMDB

  • TANKS

  • this is a kick ass song intro....

  • VHS!? thats great! i just rediscovered this show. i used love this show.

not to mention the old 80's synth sounds. what was it? "Dying Cow Sfx"? One of the coolest, creepiest noises.

the mp3 can be downloaded at the artists page for free!

    just google it

  • OMG, i forgot about this show!!! I LOVE this show!!!!

  • Loved it !! Actually, I thought of it as something of a re-worked,updated 'Twilight Zone' and I loved that also . Rod Serling = The Hitchhiker

  • I appreciate very much that you uploaded this music that was so hair-raising back then, and still is!!! They used to show this series in Venezuela around 11:30 p.m. I got some serious nightmares...

  • This show scared the shit outta me when I was a kid...I'd hear the music at like 11:30 and run screaming!

  • I tell you the music that creeped me out as a kid, the music from the 80s version of Tales from the Darkside. But this is creepy too. I also loved that old tv series Werewolf with John J. York. I like strange scary shows like Tales from the Crypt, Tales from the Darkside, The Outer Limits, Monsters (Older show), stuff like that.

  • My sister and I would watch this with our dad all the time.Cool this is here!

  • I cant believe I found this on here that is fucking awsome!

  • that intro song used to scare the shit out of me as a kid lol

  • @phoenixlivez - Me to0! It's so perfect in its hauntingness.

  • @phoenixlivez Yea, that intro always made me turn it. I've never seen an episode.

  • @phoenixlivez me too. lol

  • @phoenixlivez This was the reason I looked for the clip, this damn thing STILL scares the hell out of me

  • Oh man, I remember watching this show all the time as a kid.

  • i cant find this anywhere

  • I have the entire series on 19 DVDs

  • i was addicted to this show like 19 DVDS where ya buy um from

  • I didn't buy it. The DVD set I got is a mixture of retail and TV recordings. All the discs have menus and are in order. Very good quality, I even have the shows that were aired on the USA Network.

  • Well mine has commentary by the directors
