  • Outstanding adaptation of images to the song!

  • Superbe, ça fonctionne très bien :-)

  • 3:30 perfect ! All of your pictures are wonderfull , full of energy ...

  • sehr guter sound !

  • After seeing Marillion play this song live in Montreal this past weekend I simply cannot describe to you what an experience that was......Ocean Cloud is an epic and complex journey.....representing life itself.

  • So many comments, although not much is left to say after feeling such a wonderfully constructed set of notes and progressions.

  • Wonderful song, one of my absolut favourite Marillion Song, if you like Marillion don´t hesitate to join the Group WEB@ on the virtual world of Secondlife. It´s fun and you meet huge amount of Marillion Fans. Cheers :)

  • @russkinrussable hell yeah!!

  • Awesome vid that suits an awesome song could watch it for hours

  • Brilliant!

  • Epic ambient guitar tone in this song. :)

  • @jesterioso

Crawl back under your stone. Fish has left the band ages ago. Get over it!!

  • ...and where's the rest of the song?

  • @thistrangengine rest of the song???? What?????? This is one of the most complete and well-rounded Marillion songs ever! It is a masterpiece.

  • @PositiveLastAction I agree with your reply but THIS clip cuts the song off at 5:31. I think it's an insult - the song is epic and should be played in it's entirety! That's what I meant by "where's the rest..." :)

  • @thistrangengine Oh I see!!! Sorry about that!!!..I didn't realize it got cut off...I agree with you this masterpiece should be played in its entirety!! :-)

  • @PositiveLastAction

I am sorry, but I had not enough good and suitabable video/photo material at that time. Maybe I will find time for a "Part 2" somewhere in the future ...

  • @micha256 no worries micha...thanks for posting this! The pictures are absolutely beautiful and suit the music wonderfully!!

  • @thistrangengine

I am sorry, but I had not enough good and suitabable video/photo material at that time. Maybe I will find time for a "Part 2" somewhere in the future ...

  • @micha256 no worries! The footage you have so far is beautiful and perfect (for the 1st half of the song). I look forward to seeing what you come up with for 2nd part (a bit more of a challenge, hmm?)

I look forward to the future... :D

  • praticamente meravigliosa

  • amazing music and very simplle words

  • this song is so bored... where are the Mark kelly solos? Let me listen a good Mark kelly solo of the new Marillion era and maybe i'll change idea about the new Marillion

  • @darakuT This track really does not warrant one. There is a brilliant Steve Rothery solo, however. Listen to the song "Season's End" and you will hear a magnificent one. Also listen to the instrumental version of "This is the 21st Century" and you will hear Kelly in all his splendor. "H" era Marillion yields Marks most brilliant moments, as the band has adopted a more sonic nature over the years. "Ocean Cloud" is an epic track that can rightfully be crowned as the shining gem of "Marbles"

  • Thank you for the beautiful video. Ocean Cloud is my favorite Marillion song. Truely epic. Nicely done.

  • @darakuT You need to get your ears checked. I like the Fish era but this is at a whole other level of song writing. FLAWLESS.

  • beautiful pics - awesome

  • Brano MERAVIGLIOSO grandiosi,Steve superlativo.

  • Che pezzo incredibile. Ma quando tornano a Milano. Steve STUPENDO.

  • Great song...great pics

  • I love Portugal - it is a greatest land of europe. I love Marillion - but I think, it was much better with FIsh...

  • @jesterioso Your high!

  • the best band in the world

  • superbe vidéo et quelles images merveilleuses...merci

  • Love this song...it is the shining gem of Marbles. An epic, introspective, winding journey. A classic Marillion mega-song. No one else can pull something like this off! The song reminds me of living in South Florida for 4 years...when "Marbles" came out..I was so lonely down there and felt like the sailor who's only friend was the ocean clouds. This song and that album got me through that experience!! Long live Marillion!!

  • Marillion is the best progressive-rock band EVER!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ammaria57 this is one of my fav songs of all time as for the best prog rock band of all times i like porcupine tree with marillion a very close second

  • bellissimo-bellissimo-bellissimo-

    che pezzo-antologia pura-

    Grazie per questo capolavoro.

  • La song está muy chida. Me late un buen..

  • oh honey..guess who sent this vid....

  • Blessings Micha256, this was great!

  • cheers, thanx for the info

  • from which album is this from?

  • You can find it on the double CD version of Marbles!

  • @micha256 Incredible song!!! one of the Best Band of prog Rock and let me tell you something, Marillion is not like Genesis without Gabriel, I feel Much more the music, the Art, Genesis Now its just another very pop Band like many others, But marillion now its more Progresive, the voice of Hogart NOW its Much better than Fish, and the band Grow up in best way without Fish.

Beautifull Music, Great Lyrics!!!! Bravo Marillion

  • @micha256 Is this like the Brave album,a conceptual album rather than the usual standard marillion?

  • @killzer48 No not really a concept album as such although some of the songs are linked throughout it

  • Amazing.....I make a comment about how I like the song, and make a comment about how Ive been a huge Pink Floyd fan, and how this song rates right up there with some of their songs that I like, and some idiot comes along and gives me a thums down.........lol.........

  • Very cool song.....Amazing soundscape! Always been a Pink Floyd fan, but this song is on a par with the Floyd....

  • beatifull

  • Great Work .... fantastic!

  • marillion marbles is one of the best ever made album in the world. Incredible 3 years hard work, fantastic!

  • you are right about that , i am not saying i had given up on them but marbles went to new levels that they have kept, looking forward to the aucoustic stuff , ps steve love that guitar....

  • @mrmarillionelo

    Fantastic man . . .

Is always good to know that we are alive and there's a lot of great music in the world yet !

    Cheers from Brazil !

  • marbles was the last good album from marillion. and ocean cloud is one of the greatest neoprog songs in der 21. Century

  • Agreed, 100%

I wouldn't say MARBLES was the last "good" album from MARILLION, rather the last "phenomenal" album from Marillion...

    To Each, His Own, though.

  • No wonder, I bet your an englishman in New York... Most of those 50,000 wiewers like this song because they probably heard it from before, way back in time...

The time when this was brilliant. To mine and probably most of those 50,000 ears

this is heartstabbing music, becuase of the loving memories.

  • Mogansss

I'm in about 60,000% agreement with you.

  • Incredible song. The shining gem of Marbles..altogether epic and simply fantastic. It gets better with each listen, as many Marillion classics do.

  • pure awesomness...

  • I find myself playing this over and over

  • A magnificent piece from "Marbles"...weighing in at just over 17 minutes in length...it is the highlight of the album that, like a fine wine, gets better with age. I would put this song on on a "best of" album anyday.

  • just beautiful

  • beautiful ocean pics and loved the music. Loved it.........more to come I hope

  • Rothery should be fucking knighted for 4.09-4.33.

  • Too true

This is a brilliant song, only song other than Neverland I've heard from Marbles.

Is this that good of an album, anybody please?

Thankyou. (Rothery is easily my second favourite guitarist, and is only beaten by a milimeter by Steve Howe of YES)

  • progkidjoel asked, "Is this that good of an album, anybody please?"

Yes. The whole album is good. A must-have if you're a Marillion fan.

Another song from MARBLES, "You're Gone," is in my Faves list if you wanna check it out.

  • Thanks a ton Ken5244, I'll be sure to check it out as soon as I can :)

I'll also check out "You're Gone" from your favourites.

    Thanks a ton,

    -Joel.

  • No prob. If you get MARBLES, be sure to get the 2-disc version ("Ocean Cloud" is only included on the 2-disc version).

"You're Gone" takes a few listens to really sink in (at least it did for me). But it's one of those tracks that just gets better with each listen. "Don't Hurt Yourself" is another nice track. The album has a nice mixture of 'proggy' stuff and more mainstream rock material.

The lyrical inspiration for "Ocean Cloud" is interesting too (see the H interview also in my Faves).

  • Thanks once again.

I just ordered copies of "Afraid Of Sunlight" and "Marbles", both 2CD remasters.

Thanks a load for the tip, you sound like the H-era Marillion go-to guy :D

  • No prob (again).

Quote: "I just ordered copies of 'Afraid Of Sunlight' and 'Marbles,' both 2CD remasters."

Good choices. THIS STRANGE ENGINE is also amazing. And of course BRAVE is their masterpiece. The DVD "From Stoke Row to Ipanema" is particularly good as well.

Quote: "Thanks a load for the tip, you sound like the H-era Marillion go-to guy :D."

Just helpin' out a fellow fan. I like the Fish era as well, although I prefer the more positive, less heavy-handed H era material.

  • "This Strange Engine" would be my favourite H-era album to date, even over Brave. I just found it alot more accessible. I also loved Season's End.

May I ask, is "Holidays In Eden" as bad as some people say?

    Thankyou once again,

    -Joel.

  • Well, TSE is definitely more accessible than BRAVE. I remember the latter took me several listens to really appreciate (because it builds slowly), but once I did, I was blown away. It's definitely the most "prog" album they've done since the early days with Fish.

And SEASON'S END is brilliant, of course.

Is HiE that bad? Not to me. AFAIC, the only 'weak' tracks on it are "The Party" and maybe the title track. The rest, particularly "Splintering Heart" and "Cover My Eyes," are great.

  • I love both "Splintering Heart" and "Cover My Eyes: Pain And Heaven", even though the latter is very pop rocky.

I think I might have to pick that up aswell, as soon as my parents give me some more CD spending money :)

    Thanks again,

    -Joel-

  • Yeah, everyone has their own idea of what's too "commercial" or pop-ish. I have mine, and Marillion's never crossed my line in the sand.

Songwriting on this level is not easy, and there's no road map. The lads go where the inspiration takes them, and some songs just end up sounding a bit more pop-ish than others without there necessarily being a conscious, commercial intent behind it. Some hardcore fans hated "No One Can," but I think it's a brilliant love song. To each his own, I guess. :)

  • I also thought "No One Can" was a great track, and I didn't think it was too poppy.

The only song from Marillion which seemed a little too poppy was "Hooks In You", and it's still a great song.

I agree that Marillion have never crossed the line. To do that, they would need lyrics that I could write off the top of my head, a cheesy song tagline/chorus/song name and no technicality, and I doubt they'd ever succumb to that.

Even if some of Marillion's songs are poppy, they are still great songs.

  • I second this....an eclectic and heartfelt offering from the greatest band in the world. Favorites include "Ocean Cloud", "Neverland" "your Gone", Invisible Man' , "Geenie" and "Don't hurt yourself" ... In total, a masterwork.

  • The H era is KING. Marillion is just amazing.

  • Amazing song, amazing photos...

  • Fuck me, I'm speechless after that.

  • Steve Hogarth IS the voice of marillion, marbles is 1000 times better than the terrible Genesis substitute: Script , fugazi and misplaced childhood.

Mark Kelly/Steve Rothery is marillions heart!

  • OK dude, you've been posting pretty much the same thing on almost every Marillion video I see, your level of obsession with Steve Hogarth is becoming scary. keep listening to the 4 albums with Fish and think happy thoughts and maybe you can shut out the reality.

  • Alxscode said:

    "Bring back the Jester."

Not likely to happen. He left ~ 20 years ago. Change is a part of life. Get over it and get on with your life.

"H. is a bad voice and and a bad choice."

The other members of Marillion, who you liked when Fish fronted it, disagree with you. And I assure you they know far more about who has a good voice than you do.

"Sorry H. fans but you dont know the difference at all."

Yes we do, and we appreciate the talents of both in their own way.

  • Upon reading your bizarre attack, my first thought was "What the hell -- what is this guy's problem?"

Then I looked at your channel and saw your "Evolution of dance X" video and got my answer. *rolls eyes*

Okay, this is where you throw a tantrum on your keyboard and spew a bunch of inarticulate profanity at me and the rest of us who recognize H's talent. Go for it.

  • Too true, and even as a bigger FISH lover, it's just ridiculous to even consider denying Hogarth's talent. He's brilliant, and took the band to new heights.

Sure, I prefer FISH's era, but H's is still so brilliant, I'd say overall better, and even then i still love FISH more.

Oh well, only people who are missing out are those who can't listen to both Eras of one of the alltime greatest bands EVER.

  • If you don't like his voice, then don't listen to Marillion.

Fish never composed song in Marillion.

  • you know? I thoght Marillion without Fish was lost but, you know (?) now 2 fucking brilliant band have emerged now Fish and Marillion are up there with Rush, Porcupine Tree and Black Sabbath. Thanks for posting this. Slainte Mhath/Prost

  • A magnificent piece from "Marbles"...weighing in at just over 17 minutes in length...it is the highlight of the album that, like a fine wine, gets better with age. I would put this song on on a "best of" album anyday.

  • Thank you, Marillion, for your music! I wake up with your music, I drive at the office listening your music, I work listening low at your songs, I fall asleep with your music, I love my wife listening at your songs:)

  • Marbles was nearly 3 years hard work, lot of time to change misstakes. The album is 100%

perfect! ( maybe to perfect? ).

  • I am a big marillionfan (Steve Hogarth era).Marbles (2-CD version of course)is marillion´s finest and most finnished album today. Like happiness but.....some tracks sounds "demo", whish they had worked a couple of more time (month´s) whith the album..........

  • happiness is better with each listen, marbles was my fav but now happiness rocks!!!!

  • I first got into Marillion in 1990 fell in love with the old and the new, bought every lp saw them 4 times and so on ... BUT lost it once radiation came out, fell off the Marillion planet after that for almost 10 years. I finally searched them out again and came across Marbles and the new HIS album and HOLY COW!! Ocean Cloud might just be the best damn song they ever did!!

  • Beautiful pictures, beautiful music...

  • Hallo Micha,

  • Favourite song off 'Marbles'. Shame it was left off the 1-Disc retail version.

  • my thaughts entirely.. i only heard it on you tube then after originaly buying marbles discovered it was only on the 2 disc version... i have it now though !

    norberto - Brasil

  • Beautiful images accompanying a great song. Really nice job, mate.

  • Watch Marillion on Ditto Music Live Thursday 9th October 8-9pm. Sky Channel 180 (Red TV).

See Marillion perform live, watch interviews and hear their top tips for making it as a band!

    Spread the word!

  • Fuck, Portugal is a beatiful country, this land breathes history. LOVE this song, and with pictures of my country's coast... God, damn good man. Thanks for the upload, great video! Marillion is great, really beautiful songs.

  • This is really impressive.

  • This song is EPIC. I listen to it when I climb mountains--the mood, the images, the attitude--all suit me when I am struggling up a rocky ridge. I can relate to the subject of the story. I was never good at sports, never was a tough kid, but I have climbed to places few others have been. I love this song and the entire Marbles album.

  • "Ocean cloud" doesn't need pictures. But we need "Ocean cloud" in our lives.

  • Think you missunderstood ueberRegenbogen. There was two Marble c.ds issued. The standard release didnt feature this track amongst others. I had to buy the double disc edition from the Marillion website to obtain this.Looking forward to the new release soon. This i will be buying in the double edition format so as not to miss out on any tracks first time around.

  • Please don´t upload songs. Buy it. This song don´t need pictures.

  • I agree with the buying part. Although the mixing with the pictures was very nice, I think Marillion does a good enough job =p

  • Ok you´re right! But do we want Marillion to exist?

  • Too right we do, Patricarne, and I would urge everyone to buy the music where they can... except songs like Ocean Cloud can be a bit of a bugger in that respect if you ain't a fan nor know anyone who is.

These days the best way to support any band is to see them live whenever you can, damn near impossible for many of us, but it's a great ambition.

Failing that, just promote them in any way you can. There is no bad publicity and in that respect this is brilliant. Enough said.

  • awesom track ,,and the video coulsn't be more great ... really great band

  • Fantastic track once again from the guys. Didnt realise it existed especialy when most have the single Marbles c.d but as it only appears on the double disc edition most will miss it. Another classic.

  • Simple solution there, crossy: buy albums rather than singles—especially when it comes to bands who generally don't disappoint. :D

  • Concordo in pieno! Capolavoro assoluto.

  • Concur with all comments. Well done!

Ciao a presto

  • GREAT JOB!!!! Very well done!

  • Excellent! Well done!

  • beautifully done. I enjoyed it very much.

As beRsek8 wrote earlier: Thank you, whoever you are!

  • from the land of the people who made this music...west coast scotland...aye the big waters shout and the calm waters whisper..but what is the wiser...methinks me knows

  • Much as I love Scotland and your poetic comment, MV, I must correct one minor error. Marillion are 80% English and 20% Irish. The only Scottish member left a long time ago. Check the website.

  • Lindo!!! :)))

Parabéns pela fotografia... Sou português, vivo no Dubai e o litoral alentejano é a minha zona preferida do meu país...

    Need I say more?

  • briliant...

  • Thankyou whoever you are!

  • nice...very nicely done. i feel nice all over. it really was nice.

  • Beautifully done. There is no band on earth like Marillion. I wish I lived in the UK at times to allow for more concert visits. I'm in America.

  • this song is on continous loop in my car ...i never get sick of it ....thanks for posting it : )

  • More beautiful than Beautiful, with as much power as This Strange Engine, with pictures that only the fickle hand of Mother Nature can paint. Sight and sound really doesn't get any better than this. Well done.

  • Thank you!

    Nothing else! Thank you!

  • My compliments. This is really impressive. Watching the video I feel as I would stand by the sea myself. A fantastic job to a fantastic song.

  • The music of Marillion is just magnificent, however, as always!

  • Woooo cnt get enough of it (rote the sme comment as (tardispro18)

  • Great pics! One of Marillions best songs, I listen to the full (>17 minutes) version of Ocean Cloud many many times.

  • Same here cant get enough of it

  • great pictures and of course great music. I just love Marillion

  • Bloody good. And I'm usually a cynical bastard.

  • Great, marillion is just great!!!!!!!

  • Nice job. Nice photos inserted in this video.

  • I've listened to this song many times on the beach. You're pictures bring it alive, I can almost smell the salt myself. A nice interpretation and beautiful pictures.

  • Made those pictures yourself? So beautiful..

  • very gooood!!!!
