Kudos for an effective movie and the good morals it might teach, but that's about it. Shame on Oliver Stone for putting the image of Turkish people and Turkey in sacrifice for his own success. Propaganda to make prisons look bad is alright, but not if it is exaggerated to the point of becoming a misportrayal of and an insult to a nation and their people. And no, it's also not right to rebel against a foreign nation in this way, cause that is more detrimental.

I'm glad someone had the idea to make this :) you could tell Giorgio's version is completely off lol and any other version is false therefore I'm glad the real theme is here ^^
Amazing, brilliant what more can i say about this movie, everything about this movie is memorable and the music is so thought provoking in some parts of the movie it even brought a lump to my throat and not meny movies can do that to me.
Yeah, very true story. Told by Hayes, written by a Jewish Writer and acted by Armenian actors. The Turkish language spoken in the movie wasn't even proper Turkish. A VERY real story, I agree.
keep in mind people that Oliver Stone wrote this, and he wrote it in the middle of the war in Vietnam, its only logical to be harsh and unfair towards asian people.
and yes its not 100% accurate but some elements are true.
Just saw this movie on TV (i've seen bits before, but just watched it in it's entirety). I can see the controversy regarding how Turkish people were portrayed in this movie. But that's just hollywood...the liberal white guy always rules, wins, leads and all the people of color(black, native american, asian, latino) are marginalized. However I loved Billy Hayes' determination, against all odds and all alone, he escaped a Turkish prison. I love the "story".....
@Nikita0156 this was one of my favorite movies growing up...one of the more powerful movies oliver stone has made albeit not 100 percent accurate...i was looking for this theme music for years and years but never was able to find it because it did not exist until you tube...i hope u enjoyed listening to it as it truly captured the mood of the movie..one of the greatest themes of all time
@execatty it wasnt 100% accurate but it wasnt total fiction, first of all the romantic relationship between the prisoners is true, some of the torturing is quite true.
@Nikita0156 With all respect, have you been in a turkish prison? This is not that far from the thruth as you think, I know guys who have been in turkish prison, they are still afraid of sleeping in darkness.
@antaresofscorpius EVERY brown person (ie: Turks) portrayed in this movie (even his lawyer) is either corrupt, bumbling, sadistic, or a rapist. Even the real Billy Hayes says there was violence in the prison, but he never saw guards raping someone and he was never raped. Oliver Stone took some negative and racist liberties here. White guy victim/hero and Turks all of them bad. I like this movie. Young Billy Hayes is adorable, however I do see a racist undertone in this film.
@recoverfromhydro ...so your free to not watch it...i myself happen to think its a classic and powerful movie from my childhood...and i happen to love the theme...again u are free to choose not to watch it...racism is born from insecurity...dont be so insecure...enjoy life and dont be so sensitive...cheers
@execatty Yes,it is a powerful classic;I'm only pointing out the reaction people had, especially Hayes, when it came out. I'M apparently not the one who's insecure or overlly sensitive, and I DO enjoy life.
@recoverfromhydro then u should clarify your point next time...it was vague and i misinterpreted your meaning..im well aware of the movies "reaction" oliver stone has made his regrets known
@churlyryan ty... i saw this movie when i was a kid...it has always stayed with me and the theme i made from the movie, my three favorite scenes...really hits home for the time it took place...you really felt like you were there...such a beautful painful theme ...and this is the only place to hear it...for years i tried to find this theme but it was never made available anywhere...but now i have it..

This is one of the best film scores I've heard. I prefer the movie version than the soundtrack.
