very pretty. But as David Hurwitz says, loosely quoted, "you'll know you've lost sight of the good stuff when you start to believe the three Bs are Berlioz, Bruch and Bax."
@cruise332 Berlioz was one of the all time greats, the other two not so much. Bruch wrote 2 or 3 great pieces, while Bax wrote numerous interesting ones of interest to the connoisseur, though perhaps not the general public. You're right, though, you can't beat the real "Three B's", plus the one M (Mozart).
I came to Bax via Tintagel, Summer music, the "into's" (e.g., twilight, faery hills), summer song, and his 6th symphony. I'd never sampled Winter Legends. So many new treats to explore in music. Bax is a good antidote to use when one burns out on Debussy.
My two personal favorites of Bax are the Festival Overture which has a really neat Passacallia in the bass. And wow, the brass at the end ! And I also like his Fifth Symphony.
I live in Canada. And, I post this during the dead of winter, which adds to my listening experience of this piece. Yes, I am a die-hard devotee of Bax. I have enjoyed this unique presentation with these paintings. Thank you.
Stunning; sweeps you away. Fantastic!

What a superb work. So accessible and atmospheric. Why on earth is it not performed?

love it, very cold and mysterious. I've never heard of sir Arnold Bax but now I think I'll listen to more of his music. :)
