This will lead to Communist (not Socialist) Revolution in India. India is too big for Capitalism anyway - that's why the Chinese are keeping cute with Capitalism (wise). Sooner or later you'll get some guy standing up for these people again - it's in their history, in their blood - like sheep with cattle grids the powers that be have probably already cut-down the first to stand-up... driving it underground.
So is China... so waht the hell are they up to? Is it just Oligarchs getting a fat account so they can skip country and leave the peasants to Mao Redux... or is there another angle...?
That's the $64,000 question. The BRIC countries are the rising economic giants, the process of deindustrialization in the west is already under way, India buys half the Gold the IMF put up for sale, yesterday Medvedev referred to Russia's economy as "primitive" and stressed the importance of modernization and the move away from an Oil/Natural Gas based economy, China produces everything and with a one child policy the majority of the country will be old in the next few decades...... confuses me.
I was watching one of those TED shows and the speaker was discussing this New India. He made it sound all wonderful with increased education and healthcare. More investment in infastructure. But the undertone, what was not said, was that this was for the New Ruling class and the peasants would essentially be even more like indentured servants than they already were. I commented and no one got what I meant. This will be good, they said.
There's an article in the latest issue of Foreign Policy Magazine that discusses the popularity of Ayn Rand in India, I added the link in the description if your interested.
That is a good article. Upper incomes tax reduced from 80% to 30% may be good for the upper 10% but will have devistating effects on the bottom 50%.Why don't they just come out and say it. We are all being pushed back into the days of Feudalism. In India this will look more like slavery.

FYI: Epistemologically speaking: Ayn Rand: John Galt. Is the exact antithesis of Desmond Tutu: Ubuntu. Look it up ;-)
