If this is considered rap/hip hop as someone else wrote. I'd buy it, most rap/hip hop has good ideas but the rap is to over done and you can't think to it or play guitar to it. I can play guitar to this!
@222Lightning - there is plenty of hip hop you can play guitar to. the crap on the radio is not hip hop. there are plenty of producers that leave a lot of room for guitar, dilla, almost any atmosphere track and too many others to name. as well as other hip/trip hop cats/groups like blockhead, portishead, bonobo, wax tailor
killer vocal harmonies, i hope he does something similar with female vocalists some day. either way, fucking beautiful music! this is the track to make illegitimate children to
replace RJ's vocals with some of aceyalone's, and this track would have been undoubtably bigger & better.
Rj is an excellent producer, (and this beat is an example of that), but when it comes down to it, his vocals just dont sit right with me. trip hop :D > pop? :(
I've been trying so hard to like 'The Third Hand' but I just can't, the lyrics to this track alone border on the inane, production on the album is jarring and RJ's vocals are simply not up to the task.
alot of stuff is pop. you cant write something off for that reason. Like bad rock and good rock, big L compared to chingy. Miles davis to al jarue. This is good pop, and its mind numbingly unique.
Like maztakeef420 said, pop or not, RJD2 still shows his skills as a producer in -every- track. Anything he makes I could rhyme over. The dude is a beast....
i doubt he's giving up on hip hop totally! i wouldn't be surprised if he came out with another hip hop album after this, and i bet even if he doesn't come out with another solo hip hop album there will be another soul position one. i hope i'm right, anyway...

keep listening, u will eventually get the album. and love it like u love his others.
U can't expect him(RJd2) to keep on bringing out the same stuff on his albums. he is an artist, his music will always evolve.
