derrin always acts like hes not confident in his tricks to create suspense, cus if people watch him too much the shock factor goes away cus you know hes gona do what he says, he knows full well its gona work.
I think that those numbers were written on the board before she got it, and the marker did not really write anything. Cause I really don't think she wrote that little in the amount of time she had.
I think the thing is, everyone is in very good report at this point in the show with Derren. As you know something like this the audience the stage the atomosphere would really make someone more suggestable. Ofcourse you hear him do the classic redirect, "Im not really hypnotising you" When in reality "I am totally hypnotising you" good embedded command. Personaly though i dont know how he gets them to get the numbers maybe previously embedded commands.

still, some people are more suggestable than others. i used to go to big christian revival meetings, where people would fall over, speak in 'tongues' and all that. i so wanted to experience it at that time, but just couldn't, whether i tried or attempted not to try at all, didn't make any difference. it really seems to tell much about a person's state of being; very interesting stuff...

One can only assume it was worked into the show, and the audience unwittingly followed him to that point. Of course, hypnosis persay does not exit, merely suggestion. But bravo for the performance! The only way they will ever remember this show is if Derren Brown meets them again and makes them remember the whole thing in a flash.

Its not that you aren't already susceptible, its both the fact that you have a near-bird's-eye view, and it's on camera. If you were in the audience, it would be much larger and more difficult to see. Because of how much larger it would be, you couldn't read it consciously through a glance, while you could subconsciously. If any of us had been there, we might see a flash of light, but we'd disregard it for another light effect.
Plus, the screen is small. We can see more over a small area. If it was on a huge screen, it'd be much more difficult to notice. I see what you mean......

yeah i saw that two about 3 times. Once just when the lights start to dim and the bright white light shines "forget" on the front middle of the stage, the second time on the wall to the right (or that might've said "FOCUS") and the last time just when he's finishing up, it flashes at the same place as the first time.
Quick exp. At 2:09 he gets the #'s off the paper. At 2:45 he writes on trick slate behind the easel(it has 2 scrrens). At 3:30 he gets the trick slate from behind the easel. At 5:28 after she's done writing on the 2nd screen he switches the trick slate back to the first screen where he wrote the #s. May not be perfect but i think im close.
Yes, Ive seen many of Derren Brown's T.V. shows. I think at the begining of every one of them he says he uses magic, misdirection, and showmanship. They are simply more efective techniches than the subliminal stuff. I still think he is great.

that´s my guess, too. and derren said something like: "the numbers don´t have to be next to each other" suggesting him to think of exactly that. now given, that christian was already thinking of 4, the leap to 5 is not very far.

Sorry, but you can't take a random person from the audience and just snap your fingers and say "sleep" and they just do that. Even if it worked, it would only work for a few people and for a tv show like this, Derren would have to do something to check the person out before the show to see if they were susceptable. LOL a pattern break and induction have little to do with this demonstration as a whole. The pattern break and induction only put someone in trance so they can receive suggestions on a subconcious level. This demonstration IMO utilizes suggestion that may have been anchored, but this clip is so short we can't see how he is doing it for sure.
Yea, Hynosis and handshake induction is real. That guy's limited ability to understand what hynosis is makes him a non-believer. His perception that someone waves a watch in front of his eyes and so on is not what happens. The subject is not really sleeping, just put off and temorarily allows his sub-concious to recieve suggestion.

you can see the word "FORGET" subliminally flashed onto the wall for a frame or so, at least twice, quite brightly, though it likely looks brighter on video than it did being there. I'm surprised it went unnoticed. Then again, I'm watching a little window of video, but the audience would be "watching" their entire field of view, and would be focusing on Derren, and so would be less likely to notice if it were somewhere in the periphery of their vision. Whatever.

that´s my guess, too. and derren said something like: "the numbers don´t have to be next to each other" suggesting him to think of exactly that. now given, that christian was already thinking of 4, the leap to 5 is not very far.

I thought of the number 84, which would just be close considering one of the possibilities was an 8. BTW as far as them just sleeping when he says, people follow along so they can be part of a successful show, and he knows this all too well. He's an amazing man.

Hah, yeah. When he was setting it up, "letting them know", he flashed the word off to one side so that they saw it in their peripheral vision- obvious to us, but not to them while staring at the light. Then he flashed it again to trigger his programming at the end.

Sorry, but you can't take a random person from the audience and just snap your fingers and say "sleep" and they just do that. Even if it worked, it would only work for a few people and for a tv show like this, Derren would have to do something to check the person out before the show to see if they were susceptable. So this was phony.

He didn't snap his fingers he used a well known technique, where he went to shake his hand and then he didn't I don't know what it is called but bcos da pattern is broken da person doesn't know wat to do so s/he follows wat da otha person says, I think if you search Russian Scam Derren Brown exposed (or revealed) it explains there.

LOL a pattern break and induction have little to do with this demonstration as a whole. The pattern break and induction only put someone in trance so they can receive suggestions on a subconcious level. This demonstration IMO utilizes suggestion that may have been anchored, but this clip is so short we can't see how he is doing it for sure.

Yea, Hynosis and handshake induction is real. That guy's limited ability to understand what hynosis is makes him a non-believer. His perception that someone waves a watch in front of his eyes and so on is not what happens. The subject is not really sleeping, just put off and temorarily allows his sub-concious to recieve suggestion.

you can see the word "FORGET" subliminally flashed onto the wall for a frame or so, at least twice, quite brightly, though it likely looks brighter on video than it did being there. I'm surprised it went unnoticed. Then again, I'm watching a little window of video, but the audience would be "watching" their entire field of view, and would be focusing on Derren, and so would be less likely to notice if it were somewhere in the periphery of their vision. Whatever.

I watched the full show on tv and the 'forget' thing works on home audiences as well.
my dad came in from work about 15mins after the program and we couldn't tell him what derren had done.
all my sister remembers was the toy kitten being thrown around.
It was like I was seeing this trick for the first time here on youtube

the suggestion of 45 was pure brown genius . the girl charlie was given a dry marker that did not work .therefore the writing was already written.j. royle does a similar trick and shows you how to do it

ooh wow!! I was bumming around and saw the russian roulette and that was the video before!! Ok, I'm getting there. From reading his book, I've tried sort of self hypnosis and its amazing. Getting myself to create and destroy pain, raise and deaden arms by believing it.
Ok then I saw some Criss Angel and thought he was a fraud. (hey its coming, its coming) but I can't remember what vids of him I saw... HEY how come I didn't notice the FORGET? I just looked straight through it!!
