How do you get it to show the buttons in practice mode, or did you manually insert them?

buttons show in practice mode by default, this is footage from PSX (PS1) game, obviously arcade Tekken3 did not have this option...

this was also the last Tekken in which you could turn off ALL statistics, buttons and combo display, I use this very often instead of VS mode - with second player allowed ;)

@mxzptlx1357 When I go into practice mode in T3, the buttons never show up. I've had the game for like a decade. It's the NTSC-U version, so I guess that might have something to do with it. Oh well.

Weird, I have five original Tekken 3 copies, all 3 original releases - NTSC-J, NTSC-U and PAL in three versions including platinum, I played them all on modded PSX (for region reasons) and never had this problem.

I also made an ISO image of every copy of my Tekken 3 collection and each works great with ePSXe emulator.

How do you counter hit?

@hgs99live if you hit your opponent while he moves or attacks, your strike will be a counter

you can also charge by pressing all 4 buttons (hands+legs), this will change your every non-blocked attack into counter

every blocked charged attack does guard damage, but you cannot guard yourself and every hit you receive will also turn into a counter

basically, counter = more damage, usually counter moves have extra properties - launch higher, stun etc.

when i was a kid, i played this with my brother, and one time i got so stressed that i pushed all the buttons as an idiot and maneged to the a attack where jin (i was jin) jump towards the other person, grabed his face and then everything turned black for like 3 secunds. and when you could see again jin was standing over the other guy, that was lying on the ground. That attack took the whole life from the other guy.

Do you know how to do that one?

get Jin's school uniform (select him 50 times, preferable VS mode, it's a fastest way ) and pick him with "Start" button

it's also Xiaoyu's extra stage (50 fights, school uniform, "Start")

Devil Jin is not in T3. Neither Kazuya or Jun.

You can do some devilish moves in Tekken Tag, when you pick Jin in team with Heihachi. In T4 and T5 Jin can go into special stance, but it's not so demonic anymore. Tekken 5 introduces Devil Jin as a separate character, with moves similar to T3 and Tag and a few extra tricks.

To de-compile the game's source code would be great, I'd like to see all the "gaps" after removed attacks. But no, not yet :)

Practice mode in T3 is friendly enough to help find some stuff. Also with this clip I got great help from CARZ, another Tekken fan who gave me many great tips on moves.

I still think Tekken 3 has many "secrets" to share. It's the best Tekken game ever.
