i saw them on this same tour as a young 15 year old at birmingham odeon on a warm may evening, absolute class it still lives with me to this day and i even jumped up on stage at the end of the show to try and hug mark to show my love for the performance but i was quickley chased back into the stalls by the roadies, what a unbelievable performance by the whole band,i was so privalidged to be there.
I'm as moved by this sound as I was 20+ years ago. The energy Hollis brings to the live performance is incredible. Haunting musical landscapes and lyrics sung from the heart. I know it's been said many, many times but how I'd love to see a reunion or at the very least, Hollis creating again.
Spirit of Eden has not dated; it's remarkable how contemporary it sounds, anticipating post-rock, The Verve and Radiohead. It's the sound of an artist being given the keys to the kingdom and returning with art.
Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant!!! Thank god for newsgroups so I could download the entire album Live in London 1986 in very good quality. It's for ever on my mp3 player. And thanks for posting this one.

No one knows it, yet?! So who am i? And who are the 2 million who watched " it's my life " and the 1,335.000 who watched " such a shame " until now? And that's without who watched the other videos.
I love these guys. My big missed opportunity was not being able to afford Lee Harris's complete Tama Artstar kit when it was on ebay almost 10 years ago. I still regret not being able to buy it; road cases and all.
Man, youtube is worth it just for all these wonderful Talk Talk clips I've discovered...boy does this take me back.
After seeing Talk Talk twice on their "It's My Life" tour, it seemed forever until their next album and tour, "The Colour of Spring" in 1986. And who knew that THAT would be the last anybody would see of them, since they didn't tour their amazing "Spirit of Eden" and "Laughing Stock" albums.
Such a shame...they were really good live in concert.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Spirit Of Eden was hated by the record company and they pulled funding. Also, the album had so many sound effects and overdubs (the drums on Desire, for example), Hollis refused to take it on tour anyway citing that the band would never be able to do it justice live (please correct me if this is not true). That said, Spirit Of Eden is my favourite album of all time. Nothing short of a masterpiece.

@lilacpoal It is true, they did decline to give in their artistic freedom so the record comp pulled the plug on them they split up in 1991 :-( And the fans all love the album, proves again, records comp don,t know shit...
ITV showed the whole concert back in 87 I believe, friend of mine had the video but I assume it is long gone. lets just hope these guys re form for one final tour

I have always wanted to strangle the video editor on this one. At 3:21 when the kick @ss guitar bit comes in, the camera is on the bass player, then for the 3 seconds the guitar is quiet, the camera switches to the guitar, then, just as the guitar picks up its second cry, the camera switches back to the bass. AAARRGGGHHH! What the? Anyway, the song is awesome.
Great song. Great hair. Although in '86 i probably would have been too caught up in new-wave norms to appreciate that. On another note, did they do any videos for the last 2 albums (Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock)? Can't imagine they did.
