  • Where did you get the pic at 1:57?

  • alot of people dont know some of the other song they did the jackson five had some bad ass songs....

  • ONE OF MY FAVE SONGS...

  • One of my favorite J5 jams

  • People use the term "cover" incorrectly. A cover record is a record that is put out that is almost identical to one already on the charts. The term came about when artists like Pat Boone would cover say a Little Richard's record with the theory being the later recording will mostly get played on soul stations but with Pat's cover version he could have an even bigger hit cause he will get pop play or coverage on other stations. The terms you should use is "remake," "redid," "rendition" etc.

  • Amazing song!

  • When you see the pictures of the young J5 and remember u too was young it makes each day you move forward the best ever.

  • What a little gem! The pictures are just wonderful

  • But then i remember Michael Jackson not only have built a large body of work for his own: he covered too much great recordings too. It's like not how high you jump: it is like how how high you climb.

  • love this and the pictures are GREAT!! <3

  • You talk about some of greatest cover artists ever The Jackson did Smokey Robinson, Delphonics,Stevie Wonder,Clifton Davis and Holland Dozier and Holland.Motown was a hit factory in the 70's.And was smart enough too know Micheal could sing mature material.

    .

  • one of a kind ..no other will ever exist to even compare to the king of pop.

  • This was a hit for Smokey Robinson and the Miracles in 1967. That is still the definitve version of this song IMO

  • Thanks LJ43094H. I love this song and tribute video especially pictures :40, 3:33 and 4:13. Great work.

  • Nice.

  • Sorry, Jacko, but you're no Smokey Robinson...or Stevie Wonder, or James Brown, or Jackie Wilson for that matter!

  • @ascrodin They were his idols, they inspired him to the greatness he ultimately achieved, KING of POP.

  • @ascrodin HE"S MICHAEL JACKSON

  • YOU are an IDIOT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Michael Jackson sang this song 100 TIMEs better than Smokey and Smokey wrote it. Hell, Smokey ADMITTED MJ sang it better and I KNOW SMOKEY! @ascrodin

  • @Bassplayershadow2023 No, he meant that about Who's Loving You, not this song, because Smokey does sing this song better than Michael.

  • Yeah, I think the Motown execs said, "Oh you play bass and guitar, that's nice..."

  • The Legendary Jackson Five!!

  • Pure Vocal magic!!!!

  • having heard Smokey's original version, there's no way I could prefer this one.

  • @wh0m33 and you know this... but I think this version was aimed toward a younger audience back then....but im like you, Smokeys version is out the box with passion.

  • I'm proud of the J-5 loved them since i was 8

    now I'm 50.

    Still missing you MJ !

  • The Jackson 5 was the first Motown group in my age group. The Temptations and the Supreme's where my uncle's favorite groups. I love all of the J5 cover songs.

  • This was their best cover/remake of a past Motown hit.

Very well done album in total up this point.

  • what a beautiful song and they just make it sound even better.jamerson's playing a pretty bass on this also. these were the guys of my child hood. and what fun we had dancing and groovin' to this wonder music. what memories-----wow.

  • @MrNathan791

This is NOT Jamerson on bass.. He is only known to have played on "Darling Dear"... keep in mind that by this point, Motown was not recording in Detroit as much.. and all of the J-5 tracks from 1970 onward were done on the West Coast. They actually flew the master tape back to Detroit to have Jamerson play on "Darling Dear". Plus.. Jamerson would not have played such a structured part throughout the whole song.

  • @megavega4 you're right, they did move to california in '70.

  • @MrNathan791

Yeah bro... I've read that they used to actually write out some of the lines Jamerson would play after he recorded them to keep as reference in case they did a song with a similar feel. That would explain why a lot of tunes that DON'T feature him on bass still end up sounding like he's playing. He was so in demand that a lot of producers would hold up their sessions to try to get him to play. So in case they couldn't, they could write out a bass line that had his approach...

  • @megavega4 thanks for the infor..when i was growing up and listening to the J-5, i was inspired to learn to play the bass thinking that it was jermaine, but all time it was jamerson playing. the little things that go on behind the scene is pretty cool.

  • @MrNathan791 .. actually... as I said.. Jamerson is only playing on Darling Dear... Wilton Felder.. Ron Brown.. Tony Newton.. Chuck Rainey and William Salter are the bassists that are playing on most of the J-5 stuff. I thought it was Jermaine too...

  • @megavega4 God Bless all Motown musicians

  • @megavega4

If that is true what about when they played live That had to be Jermaine playing.

  • @xenaslave69

It was not Jermaine on the recordings. Motown ONLY used their house band for everything that was recorded on Motown. But Jermaine and Tito played their asses off live...

  • @xenaslave69 yes that is jermaine live i saw them live in the '70's and jermaine was playing .jermaine was playing the bass even before they came to motown. this was a testiment to the boys being prepared even before motown. joe was rough but no one can say that he didn't have his boys ready for the big time.

  • @MrNathan791 A TRUE FATHER

  • @MrNathan791 Yes you are definitely right about that MrNathan791. I don't agree with everything Joe did but he kept his family together and built a foundation for their talent. Who would have known what would have become of the brothers if he was not in their lives with music as something of interest and unity. He always said he used music as a way of not only building a success way out of Gary but also out of the gangs, drugs and poverty.

  • @ABSAT01 I agree. If it were not for Joe, where would they be? We probably would'nt have known them. But I think it was their destiny from God through the way of Joe to become the stars they are.

  • one of my favorites and the song called shes good

  • I luv both versions SMOKEY adds that sexy & MIKE sounds so sweet and innocent both great singers it depends on how you're feelin at the moment ????

  • Those of you might not understand they were marketing song like this for the bubble gum generation(teenager). And no group did it better then the J 5.....Peace

  • @justbroadway i totally agree. the '70's was my per-teen and teen years and i must have had just about all of the J-5 albums. man it was pure joy to sit down and just listen to the latest J-5 songs at that time. and you talk about dancing we would dance all afternoon on saturday's some time. wow those was some great times we had. R.I.P. M.J..peace out.

  • u love ur pictures, this song is so cute

  • Do you think that either Smokey or Michael would want you to be arguing over whose version is better?

  • This "Kicks Ass" over Smokey Robinson and the Miracles' version anyday!

  • michael's voice was so ANGELIC! I like this even better than the smokey robinson version.
