  • Simply fabulous! Goes for the tune as well. The composer was Willard ROBISON (not Robinson). In my opinion this is his "best" composition. He played piano with, and arranged for, Paul Whiteman's Orchestra. Frank Ward

  • Hvor flot godt gået

  • A beautiful song .....Beautifully done...

Isn't it magical to hear true artists playing absolutely thrilling musical statements !!!!

  • Magic Roy.

    Just magic.

    Baz the poet.

  • wonderful playing..........

  • I treasure my recording of Roy playing that long solo on "Tangerine".

  • I used to live across the road from Roy Williams in the 80's at Nightingale Close in Luton.

A great performer with Alex Welsh, Terry Lightfoot and later, 5- a -slide.

It all seems such a long time ago.

Why cant we stay young forever !!

  • wonderful roy used see u all time in old days with alex

  • We are talking "Fishmongers Arms" Wood Green!

  • Beautiful! What a tone! What a beautiful harmonies!

  • I used to see the Welsh band on Sunday nights in N London too, absolute magic. I played D/Bass with him a few times and ended up playing with Harvey Weston who was a long serving member of AWB whilst I played Tbn..

  • @sliderman7 hello i am a tbn player in a dixie french/swiss dixie band. Would you happen to know of a way to find / buy some arrangements/charts of the marvelous

AWB- band ? thanks and all the best.

  • What an artist! Roy always crafts a beautiful trombone solo whether playing "hot" or "mellow" and I love the "last split-second vibrato" and regular sprinkling of appogiattura's in his playing. It's a real pleasure and a deep honour whenever I get to perform on Trumpet with him.

  • I've always been a huge Henri Chaix fan, and just love this

    video. Thanks, Bob

  • i agree with keswick the style is very close

  • Hey Bob, we don't know each other but this made my day as well. I hung around NE London pubs in the mid 1970s and often heard Roy Williams therein. I was a budding trombonist at the time and latched on to every single note he played. Listening to this, nothing has changed. Invention, lyricism, precision are his. Thanks for posting. I hope more will discover the beauty of his playing

  • so close to Teagarden its scary!

  • but fair bit higher than Jck

  • Hey Bob, you made my day. You know me for liking my music hot and swinging, but here is my favourite horn player, who can play hot with the rest of the guys, showing off his other side. This is pure perfection with Henry providing great back up on piano, and the rhythm section very relaxed. Sweet!!!
