@WoordWerks Please tell me how it is you know so much about Gehry's personality, for example your statement about him mistreating people. I have actually been around Frank when he is interacting with his employees and I have never seen him do what you are describing. And I have also been at ceremonies honoring Frank and he is always self-effacing, not at all how you describe him.
Not everyone likes his building, all those curvy and expressive forms. But I actually like the 'inside' of his buildings. It's just overwhelming and truly beautiful.
the best architect of all times....alot of stupid unartisitc idiots are jealous of him and his architectural success...i hope he designs a building here in dallas, tx
Gehry has a genius both for inventive appropriation of forms and for breaking free of the orthogonal prison that describes so many modern buildings. He speaks of his fascination for fish (since his childhood). Their sinuous shapes prove that "free forms" can maintain structural integrity and logic. I've seen several of his best buildings in LA, Seattle, Berlin and Prague. They are almost always spatial adventures. This year I hope to visit the Bilbao.
i think first our cities then our world must be designed for people and people public travel I hope we soon eliminate the car at least by the next generation.... doncha think it would be a muh friendly world when we are all united instead of always selfish, greedy, materialistic, and solitary
Public transport is GREAT for urban areas - even reaching into suburban areas. I'm in Paris and I can't understand why anyone would want a car here. Sad to say, though, to go deep, you must have a vehicle. My brother lent us his car to go into the wilderness. He leaves it at home and carpools with his wife. They're gonna move closer to work so that they can bike, hike, or kayak. Go future !
Deconstructivist architecture is not so pleasing to my senses, but i give it an A for effort. These quadrangled towers jammed into our cities are inviting targets for terrorists in airplanes. They symbolize the absurdity of all forms of hierarchical structures: they are repetitively boring, inhibit natural circulation and ventilation, and dehumanize us by viewing us as stackable commodities (trying to get the most money from us for occupying the least amount of terrestrial footprint).
no offense to what you said but it is what deconstructivist architecture showed us;the possibilities of pushing architecture forward, why are people so bothered of seeing an form altered building?is that how we saw architecture?architecture is not a box

he actually wads up pieces of paper and throws it on the desk and then tells people to build it. Totally Brilliant.
