@JonJoony the movie as itself, no it wasnt that bad. If you compare it to the book, then they missed SO many extremely important parts that has actually made it impossible to make Eldest into a movie. Someone would need to re-make Eragon and include the parts that they missed in order to be able to make Eldest.
@hellveteran45 I agree compared to the book it missed out loads of things. But as a movie itself i found it pretty good. To soon for a remake hopefully in the future cause Eldest would make a pretty good movie
Say what you will about all of the acting in this movie, but when you consider that they are just aching because they really want to yell out "THIS MOVIE FUCKING SUCKS" you have to hand it to all of them. Yes, even the kid.
I absolutely love Ed Speleers and have to disagree with many of you who say he ruined the movie..I think the director ruined it by leaving out key points from the book..and sort of rushing through it..and I realize this movie came out in 2006 and I am posting this in 2010..so yes..I am a late fan..but I definately don't believe it was Ed that ruined the movie..it actually wasn't terrible..but they should try for Eldest with a new director..but keep Ed and everyone else...that's just my opinion.
Hope Galbatorix isn't bald in the book , tough it has been a while since I read the first book so can't truely remember if he was discribed in it dn't think he was actually
no, and no, roran's actor looks not only like a peasant, but like a trucker. at least speelers looks cute. that is, if you past the part where the director chose a BLONDE BLUE-EYED boy to play someone who was precisely described as being the exact same opposite.
smartest thing about someone who you admire just for physical appearance.. don't try to hear what he has to say.NEVER. leave it physical appearance and don't try to think he's also smart.
have to admit though, the whole Eragon thingy was crap, so his acting didn't actually make an impression. but eragon's role suits him. the stupidish kid growing up. the stupidish part, he's achieved, but now it's up to the director (who, btw, should be hanged or locked away) to make the growing up look good.
Eragon's budget was 100 million $. The Fellowship of the Ring had 94 million. Yet still TFotR is a grand success, while Eragon becomes the 10th worst film of 2006. Who's to blame? Not John Malkovich, not Jeremy Irons... EDWARD SPELEERS IS THE CULPRIT! BWUAHAHAHAHA!
on a serious note, I personally think the actors did a great job with what they were given to work with. Ed didn't have any experience to begin with, but if there had been better script writers and probably a better director it would have disguised the fact that his acting is so-so ^_^
I think Roran should have been Eragon's character. Speleers is a bad actor. The effects for the dragon are fantastic, Irons is great, but Speleers ruins the whole darned thing!!!
@DrStrangebomb1993 i think you're a bit retarded. first, because you say things which you don't have ANY proof about it. the fellowship of the rings had almost twice as much budget as you say it did, it was with older or more experience actors, based on the perfect novel, and had the best directors. on the other hand, i'm not totally aware of eragon's budget but it definitely wasn't 100mil$. and if you hadn't notice, it's main actor was a dragon and a kid my age and a crappy directo
Wikipedia says 94 miillion. Likewise, Wikipedia also says that Eragon's budget was 100 million in expenses, with 30 million for promoting the picture. And besides, in case you were too - what was your choice of words? - retarded to notice, my comment was posted with no serious intent but as a laughing matter. So if you can't take a joke without resorting to insults - well, my advice, don't comment. Thank you.
@DrStrangebomb1993 it's just how I talk to everyone. I get snippy when potentially good ideas get messed up by idiotic directors. and wiki can also be wrong. it was quite often. anyway, eragon looks like a low-budget fairy tale, rather than a fantasy story.
can sum1 explain 2 me y yall keep sayin that they ruined ne chances of makin movies of d oda 2 books.....im askin bcuz i havent read ne of the books an my interst has peaked from readin yall comments....THANKS
there were many (and cant stress enough how many) key points left out of theatre version. u should read them and youll find out how bad the director mand the film
because in the books, they have alot more action and more things happen in the book. In the movie, they missed out on alot for the movie. read the book and you'll see how much they missed out.
the books are incredibly well written, but the movie did the first book no justice at all. Partly because of how short the movie was and how fast it was forced to move considering the length of the book.
YOUR JUST JEALOUS THAT YOU DON'T LOOK LIKE THAT, Besides, they did what they could with the money they got and the time they got was not long enough. LOOK INTO THE FACTS FIRST
they screwed up with this movie so bad, they shouldve waited to finish reading the 2nd book so they couldve made the first movie thinking about it besides i think they didnt even tried hard cause the movie isnt even 2 hour long!! right now i believe that in order to do the next 3 films they should make a new version of eragon or at least re-release the first version with extra takes
it's incredibly hard to make a movie out of such amazing books. if they would have going for 3 movies, or 4 as it will come another book, i think they could have pulled it off better. now they screwed up the chances of making a sequel. on the other hand, it ain't crappy, that's too harsh. I just wondered why they decided to make it...well brittish?
i couldn't agree less with you! Saphira is just wonderfull! caring.. protecting.. actors.. well speeler might be in experienced but to bad he's young and learning!
not to sure about that.. i readed the first book it were awesome! i loved the book.. but i still can't say that id dislike the movie. because i still like it.. but yes, i like the story eragon now even more, and i will soon enought read the 2 books to.. eldest and brisingr.. just as they become avaiable from library.
I completely agree! I didn't read the books which is probably why I didn't trash it(Plus Jeremy Irons was in it-can't say anything bad about a movie with him in it)
haha...that's funny how kids asked Malkovich for DiCaprio's autograph...they should be asking for Malkovich's and DiCaprio's autograph. Leonardo is very good, but John is great :)

jeremy is just the quality like john malkovich,
i read in a paper once that the whole crue from the film"man in the iron mask"
was so fun for john cause all the actors had the same humour and way of thinking.
they all get very good along with eachother!
i,m a fan of john and i also like jeremy and guys like, leonardo(not his looks) gerard depardieu, gabriel byrne, etc etc

Agreed that they killed the entire film.
They left out every positive quality of every character. They made it into a fairy tale!
They destroyed Eragon, Brom, Murtagh, and especially Angela T_T the best character.
