If you compare it to the book, then they missed SO many extremely important parts that has actually made it impossible to make Eldest into a movie. Someone would need to re-make Eragon and include the parts that they missed in order to be able to make Eldest.

was so fun for john cause all the actors had the same humour and way of thinking.

they all get very good along with eachother!

I absolutely love Ed Speleers and have to disagree with many of you who say he ruined the movie..I think the director ruined it by leaving out key points from the book..and sort of rushing through it..and I realize this movie came out in 2006 and I am posting this in 2010..so yes..I am a late fan..but I definately don't believe it was Ed that ruined the movie..it actually wasn't terrible..but they should try for Eldest with a new director..but keep Ed and everyone else...that's just my opinion.

have to admit though, the whole Eragon thingy was crap, so his acting didn't actually make an impression. but eragon's role suits him. the stupidish kid growing up. the stupidish part, he's achieved, but now it's up to the director (who, btw, should be hanged or locked away) to make the growing up look good.

Eragon's budget was 100 million $. The Fellowship of the Ring had 94 million. Yet still TFotR is a grand success, while Eragon becomes the 10th worst film of 2006. Who's to blame? Not John Malkovich, not Jeremy Irons... EDWARD SPELEERS IS THE CULPRIT! BWUAHAHAHAHA!

on a serious note, I personally think the actors did a great job with what they were given to work with. Ed didn't have any experience to begin with, but if there had been better script writers and probably a better director it would have disguised the fact that his acting is so-so ^_^

I think Roran should have been Eragon's character. Speleers is a bad actor. The effects for the dragon are fantastic, Irons is great, but Speleers ruins the whole darned thing!!!

Wikipedia says 94 miillion. Likewise, Wikipedia also says that Eragon's budget was 100 million in expenses, with 30 million for promoting the picture. it's incredibly hard to make a movie out of such amazing books. if they would have going for 3 movies, or 4 as it will come another book, i think they could have pulled it off better. now they screwed up the chances of making a sequel. on the other hand, it ain't crappy, that's too harsh.
