I believe walt would like this and I would completely demolish all carnival rides at california adventure and replace them with beautifully themed rides surrounded by natural habitat. When I saw the carnival rides for the first time I was thinking dam walt must be turning in his grave.
@Bladerunner55217 Except for the fact that he Put carnival rides into Disneyland as well when it first opened. That's why he had lands like Frontierland and Adventureland to have beautiful landscaping and natural habitat. But he also had Main Street and Fantasyland for family games and fun.. And Disney imagineers try to keep it going as Walt himself said "Disneyland will never be completed, as long as there is still imagination in the world."
@vangiepirate Walt was inspired by Children's Fairyland in Oakland California and also a park called Republic of the children. Both Parks had beautifully themed landscapes. This is what Walt wanted. Not a steel carnival ride. I am sure his budget did not allow for the whole park to be themed. I would bet my life savings that if Walt saw the plans for California Adventure that he would not approve of it. In fact knowing how meticulous he was I am 100% sure he would gave that infamous no look.
it looks pretty god actually. I wish they make thunder mountain into a roller coaster track with higher red rock mountains I mean it would be much safer than that death trap train that sits on steel rails !and also do the same thing with the Matterhorn. For the little ones I think they should take out the dumbo ride & the tail of the wale, Ferris wheel tee cups, and make a mini harry potter land with that blue car you fly like peter pan and then land and get chased by baby spiders!
They say 2012 is the year that the world will end. Nonsense, I know there is a God, and he happens to be a loving God, and no loving God would destroy one of the most awesome Disney rides before it even opens!
@trogdor404= True man. I'm sick of thos nerds who believe in that (censored). It's not funny anymore. Those people have something wrong with them. They all belong in the nuthouse, not aggravating normal people. I'm sick of them.
Enough of that. This makes me want to go to Disneyland, instead of Disney World. I'll have to see about going there when thi attraction opens. I am the biggest Cars fan in my family.
@trogdor404 whenever someone hears the year 2012, they immidiatly think of the end of the world, but its not supposed to end until december 21st. and trust me that wont happen.
What's so exciting about driving in a car? Isn't that what people are trying to avoid after being in traffic all day? This idea seems very uncreative and uninspiring, they simply copied a movie and another attraction ride system and branded it as something new. Whatever happened to the Disney I grew up with that was always pushing the limits on creativity and imagination, creating things we have never seen? I guess attractions on the level of Pirates and Haunted Mansion truly are extinct breeds.
@DisMupPix010 They may have copied that particular ride system but these were times when Walt didn't have the billions of dollars at his disposal like the Disney company of today. You also bring up movie inspired attractions, Walt didn't believe in making his park into a huge commercial, there was a healthy mixture of originality and movie based attractions. The fact remains that at the end of his life all he was thinking about was original attractions and concepts like Epcot.
@equilibrium1736 Completely agree with you. The Disney of old seemed to be able to create a ride or attraction based solely on an idea, not just following the coattails of a recent movie. Matterhorn(original idea) Pirates of the carribean(original idea)adv. thru inner space(original idea)submarines, autopia, space mountain, big thunder, all based upon themselves. I knoe there are a few that were built because of movies, but not at all like recent years.
the cars look too slow and the track system not able to give that free fall drop and natural stall feeling like on coasters, the track hill not an actual hill...dissapointing
@Tonytambe It's probably the sound of the power source giving power to the car as it goes along the track. It gets louder as the car goes faster. That sound most likely won't be there when the actual ride opens though. Hope that cleared it up :)
Besides, the ride vehicles are not supposed to be a specific character from the movie. Its just supposed to look like it fits in with the rest of the world.
2012 finally here! can't wait for summer!

"copied...another attraction ride system and branded it as something new."
That is exactly what they did with Haunted Mansion. They copied the same ride system from Adventures Through Inner Space.
It is also a fact that movie inspired attractions were made in Walt's time as well. Like The Swiss Family Treehouse.
Lets keep this as civil as possible.
You may not like this idea, you may not like Cars, you may not like Pixar, but this land will be popular, just wait and see.
