Hang on to your paperwork! I bought one from the Apple store last year and it crashed after 4 months, they replaced it and now the replacement just died.
I got one of the big monster sized desktop versions of this range and holy crap, I've never seen a better quality drive enclosure. This thing is solid as hell and so precicely crafted. I use it as a Time Machine drive over the FireWire 800 port and it totally wipes the floor with USB in terms of speed (and consistent speed too, not just bursts like USB tends to have). I also use it to move huge files from my Windows box with MacDrive and the eSATA port (which seems about the same speed as FW).
This is indeed a good HD. Read a lot of great things about it. Gonna finally buy one and use my other HD as backup. Great video as always, Kendo! These VLOGs are cool. Keep them coming. =)
Just bought a 2 TB G-Drive and 2 TB G-RAID. Awesome gear. Expensive for sure. My company uses all G-Tech stuff so I got a discount. How has it been working???
With FW800 it reaches 80 MB/s for both sequential reads and writes. USB is only limited to 35/25 MB/s for reads and writes respectively. I'd say that's a significant boost.
why dosent mine show on desktop? :( it makes a dot dot dot dot sound... and light is on... i have mac osx 10.7.2

will this run better then the usb speed?

FireWire 800 is substantially faster than Hi-Speed USB.
I seen this in articles as well as when I I actually use the g-drive. (This G-Drive has firewire & USB) I have used it for both.
