It lags a bit in some places but the realism and the scenery as well as solid acting by everyone but the protagonist make it a winner. I just saw a screening of this online (sorry but I can't find the DVD anywhere) and I thought it was great. It definitely has an old school feel to it. Bleak, dark, and very suspenseful - and very much unlike what's been churning out of Hollyweird lately. I also like that it takes place in Africa which gives it a very exotic feel and look, and reminiscent of Lucio Fulci's "Zombi 2."

Ive loved Zombie movies since the late 70s as a child. I have to say, I think "The Dead" is one of the best Zombie movies to come out over the last 4 years or so. The acting was top notch. And super suspenseful. I loved how you built things up instead of just opting for gore like most modern zomflicks.. I got the feeling you wanted to make a great movie, not just a great zombie movie. I am so happy to see this. Since I first saw NOTLD on TV back in the early 70s, I was fascinated with the topic. Not really because of the Zombies, but how the people react to the phenomena. Obviously, I am a big Twilight Zone fan too. Anyway, the question that often popped into my head was how others throughout the country or the world were reacting to the walking dead outbreak. Films like this and the Walking Dead Series give possible answers to that question.

When I was a kid in the 80's i watched every zombie movie made...I have long waited for this kind of zombie movie to come along so I could watch it on the big screen!
