This is when the WWE could build stories you cared about. Now its just John Cena wins the title when ever he wants and has a 2 episode "feud" with a heel and just 4 moves them in the PPV. I watched this on PPV and my heart skipped beats during this match it was so good.

if you were any type of fan of wrestling back then, you will get teary when you watch this, simply because back then, things mattered. Similar to how Christian won his title in the ladder match. The difference is writing screwed him the next night .....
@unreal030 i agree 100%, i think Paul Heyman's genius when it comes to wrestling is grossly under-estimated, he was the master mind behind so many brilliant story-lines. I remember Heyman in an interview on "Off The Record" (which can be found on here) on the spot coming up with The Rock's heel run in early 2003, where I felt The Rock had never been better or more entertaining.
On a second note, this video brings back wonderful memories and I hope Eddie is enjoying the afterlife.

@unreal030 i agree 100%, i think Paul Heyman's genius when it comes to wrestling is grossly under-estimated, he was the master mind behind so many brilliant story-lines. I remember Heyman in an interview on "Off The Record" (which can be found on here) on the spot coming up with The Rock's heel run in early 2003, where I felt The Rock had never been better or more entertaining.
On a second note, this video brings back wonderful memories and I hope Eddie is enjoying the afterlife.

Greatest moment in wrestling.
Even Cole was great here, he called the match with style and I could tell his congratulations to Eddie was genuine.

This is so fake. They told Brock to loose he didn't want to so they pay the referee to take a nap. That ain't enough the other foo comes out. Why does the referee only wake up when Eddie covers? I bet anything if Brock coverd the referee would act stupid.

@stex632 Dude, wrestling is fake anyway, if Brock didn't want to lose, he wouldn't have deliberately let Eddie land him on the belt, wrestling is made up of storylines and pre-planned matches, Brock clearly deliberately lost, it was all too well choreographed to have been faked.

This is one of the few times I respected the WWE. They gave the title to someone who was a true wrestler, completed devoted to the industry, and a huge fan favorite. The WWE made it happen without cheating, without trickery, without bullshit. Eddie overcoming the biggest star in the WWE at the time, and going on to have a great title reign. Before people say "Eddie cheated"... No, he didn't. Watch the tape. WWE did this with style.

Eddie is the most boring WWE champion! Talk with the stupid Lation style, and have to cheat to win fights, doesn't have a strong WWE finisher, no skill to make opponents tap out! He's nothing!!!! A champion need to be big, cruel, a heel, and talk arrogantly and that is none other than Brock Lesnar!!! Rey and Eddie as a champion is damn boring!! They only deserve to be Cruiser Weight Champ!! Not WWE or Heavyweight Title!! Anyway, RIP Eddie....

Look at Cena, always a good guy...and he acts like a fail champion. People like Brock, Orton, HHH or Edge...when all of them were heel, they are damn nice to watch. Eddie was great, but as a champ....nah... not really suit. But, he's a good wrestler anyway...

@nsmiley24 Hmm...everyone have own opinion. For me, he's a good wrestler. But what I mean here is a champ must be a heel. A heel usually knows how to entertain the crowds. A good champ normally not nice. When u see back, JBL, Lesnar, HHH, Orton, Angle.....just see how entertaining they are when they all acted as a heel. I don't know, maybe Eddie would be great if he's a heel when he's champ! But this video, he's a boring champ! Sorry mate...but its only my opinion.

@JaySmile87 I respect that. Im saying that Eddie as a heel was extremely entertaining. When he used to come out with Chyna, his feuds in both feds with Rey Mysterio, the no dq match with Edge he got a standing ovation as a heel. But the heel cant always be champion because there has to be some kind of storytelling. Not just the bad guy always being on top.
