yous are fuckin wankers a lovebird is a parrot not all parrots can talk and do you say a cockatiel isnt a parrot either because it doesnt have parrot or parakeet in its name
lol, the lovebird is like "Hey! Why are u not holding and scratching me like dat stupid rubber toy? It has chemical paint applied to it u know, so hold and scratch me, I only have high quality feathers!"
for missymotto and madmaster123, lovebirds belong to the parrot family, therefore making them parrots (not parakeets because parakeets have long tails, and parrots have short tails.)
@icebahamut666 wow your cruelty for birds is shocking. but what else would be expected from someone with 666 in their name. bird probably got demon posessed from your satanic practises. what would a shit eater want with a cute lovebird? last time I checked their already far gone in the head after eatting babies and skining people and animals alive.
Put cats, dogs, and other pets back in the wild too. My grandpa has a dog and says the same thing. Then he tells me about how his dog tries to run away and he has to hit his dog. Just shows how ignorant people really are.
jejejeje! que gracioso!! mi agaporni es del mismo color, era el unico que había de ese color junto a los otros. por eso fue el elegido!aunque los verdes también me encantaban!dificil decisión!!
i have a loved bird to but it only bits me is that one of there breed characteristic im 14 and im new at keeping it as a pet im really respnsible just want some tips that would really help
I'd suggest reading some books on lovebirds & also subscribing to Bird Talk magazine. That magazine has helped me out SO much. But, yes, unfortunately, I think most lovebirds are nippy.
Thats actually just a false saying. ^ ^ So no need for saying the way she is living with her lovebird is bad or unhappy.
You can get two lovebirds but they will bond to each other more than with the owner.
You can buy one lovebird and it will happily bond with you and be more personal and close. The lovebird will be just as happy as long as you have enough time to spend with it.
Actually... that's not a true statement at all. I have a lovebird who is much more attached to me than she'd ever be towards another lovebird... believe me... I've tried introducing her to a friend and she was not accepting... I'm her mate and she's happy with that. You simply need time to spend/devote to your friend. I have plenty of that and I'm sure by the way this owner interacts with her pet she does too. So there's no need to say this lovebird is not happy. She looks very happy to me!
I heard that 2 lovebirds are better than 1, and im talking about better for the lovebirds. When you leave the house they can get lonely. 2 lovebirds often get attracted 2 each other then to you.
No they don't. But you have to give it a lot of time with you. My Male Lovebird died 2 years ago but the female hasn't killed itself. It might pluck some of it's feathers if you don't interact with it much.
i used to have 2 lovebirds, and got to the point with one of them that it'd eat out of my hand. i think one of the best things to do is to be around it as much as possible
Although you might possibly call me stupid, Nosey is a lovebird, AND a parrot. Look at Nosey's hooked beak. Compare it with, say, a macaw's beak. They're almost identical in shape! And lovebirds can talk. It's just rare for one to speak in "people-talk".
I have a bird just like this one. I've had him 11 years. They can live up to 15 or so years. Great pets, super smart. Mine gives me kisses. His name is Jerry.
I'm just lucky that Nosey will come to me when I call her. She's like a dog in that respect. Usually, when I say, "Come on, let's go," or "Hop on" and show her my shoulder, she'll jump or fly onto it. Then I lower my shoulder to her cage door and she goes in. Now, sometimes she won't come to me and then I have to get her cover or something. I put it near her, she gets on it, and then I run to the cage and gently put her into it.
You can always use a perch; most birds will climb onto perches if you move the perch towards them. Then you basically move the perch into the cage and let them climb off. That's what I do with my lovebirds and it's pretty effective.
Thank you for the video! Our family's lovebird sometimes likes to hide in the house, and playing this video on a laptop will always get him to reveal himself by chirping back to Nosey!
Um, well, she might not get less fierce. They're fiesty little birds and the females can be pretty mean. The more time you spend with her and "handle" her, the tamer she'll get. You have to do it consistently, though. Spend some time with her everyday. But she'll always be nippy, though. That's just the way lovebirds are. Hope this helped some.
Yep, Nosey's a biter. Big time, lol. But, she still is really sweet sometimes and lets me cuddle her and give her kisses. But she can also go from really sweet to really mean in an instant. Basically like a cat. She lets me know she's done playing by biting me, lol. But, I still love her, heh.
thank you so much for the advise but how can i spend time with my lovebirds if they fly away if i get close or bite if i try to pick them up or pet them. please help
Just try not to show fear to them. Bird proof yourself if you're intimadated. Perhaps make a room so that it's bird proofed, so that you can try and spend some time with the bird. Hand feed it treats such as popcorn (unflavered) or whole pieces of corn. Then work out what they like -petting, a blow of air on their feathers, being spoken too, being held etc.
you could try talking to them for a good amount of time, while they're in the cage, each day. If they get to know & trust you more, they might let you get closer to them. Lovebirds are very independent, though. Nosey's only gotten on my hand twice in many years.
ya i can tell that they can kind of trust me because before they used to come out of the nest box trying to bite me and now they just watch me give them food and water and they dont even try to bite me
When you're talking to your bird make sure you blink your eyes! Birds blink at each other as a sign of safety. It works!!! Also, cock your head to one side every now and then. I have absolutely no idea why this helps but it does seem to calm them down. Finally, (again I don't know why) but my birds love when I coo like a pigeon:) Hope this helps.
Oh yeah, Nosey chirps and swawks all day long. It seems like she wants me to look at or play with her all day long. I make time for her, but she always wants more. It's kinda hard.
I have a peach faced lovebird. She is just like what you said about nosey. She bites me my mom or dad if we try to tuch her. She's still great though!
I had a peach faced love bird for about two years, but I had to give him up to a friend. Noone could spare the kind of attention that it craved, and it screamed a lot. I still miss him though
I <3 this video, Ur lucky you have a nice bird, I have amazon parrot and it hates my guts, but it likes my dad, so much for a birthday present :(
