I've been wanting to like her, because she is so lgbt friendly and pro-feminine, but she's always come across as a cheap rip-off trying to sell herself as something new. I love The Dresden Dolls and can appreciate/like some of Lady Gaga's work, but less so (and I generally try not to hate on other women, unless they are promoting something I think is damaging). Wow. Impressive on so many fronts. And what's *really* interesting for me is how the whole 'broadcasting on YouTube immediately after writing the song' adds so much immediacy to the performance. It makes you seem like a normal human. Whereas putting someone on stage or in a normal performing context - ok, especially on-stage, because then it's literal - it puts performers 'above' the audience. Actually, Warhol was following in the footsteps of Duchamp's readymades, in questioning whether art could be born out of mass production, and whether it couldn't come from the kind of images and items that people's lives were saturated with. That's why he did the Cambell's paintings, because that was what he had in his cupboards.

If you don't like modern art then that's fine, but there's enough books out on Warhol that it's pretty clear you're doing it wrong in this comment.
