  • hi davie, does this sit down like a klink? i can really see the difference between this a klink except in probably sits lower? does it act like a shuttlecock except it lies flat?

    thanks

  • Hi fourmations,

It does lie flat on the surface as the tail helps keep it up but I do like the tail slightly longer than normal at times which has really worked for me...

    All the best Davie

  • youve made so many tying videos, do you find a urge to talk to yourself as if in a commentary even when your not filming?

  • Hi mckiller45,

Do you mean do I practice talking through a pattern before I film myself and the answer is no, but I should because sometimes I feel I have said too much or not enough. If I was selling them then I would spend a lot more time putting these videos together..

    All the best Davie

  • forgot to mention, what colour are the coq de leon fibres

  • Hi OfficialPatterson,

The Coq-de-Leon I used was Pardos Oconchado which has a nice white and black speckle, but use whatever you can find..

    All the best Davie

  • Could u tie this with a pink wing for low-light and maybe a size or two smaller?

also, you can use these on stillwaters can't you?

  • Hi OfficialPatterson,

I would always have one or two tyed with a colour like pink for bad light and as well in other sizes, and yes I would use this fly on a stillwater but more in the size 10s to14s..

I have just uploaded a tying of a mayfly which has this.

    All the best Davie

  • I didn't catch what the tail fibers are?

  • Hi Trozellify,

    The tail fibres are Coq-de-Leon..

    All the best Davie

  • Davy, another gem.Thank you.

I get a real kick out of how you tie in the tails, three turns and you're done. I wish you had been around 40 odd years ago, I used to drive myself up the wall trying to tie the tails in one at a time, and they never did look half as good as yours do.

Only goes to show, one never stops learning with fly fishing and tying.

    All the best, Peter.

  • hes a tiny little killer! great job bro!!!!!!!!!

  • I love those thorax wing style flys. Thanks, another great tie.
