This is more or less a psychological look into a fragile mind who connects with a puppet. The doll isn't cursed, or possessed or anything, it's all Anthony doing the work.

... except.... there's this one scene in the movie where I second guess this theory, a scene that makes it seem like the dummy really was alive the whole time...

@XmetaI4everX I'm guessing it's the scene where corky begins to breakdown down in anger after fats sadistically drives him nuts! (In his mind). In this scene...There's a shot of corky sitting next to fats on the couch. Then all of a sudden corky stands up, leaving the doll behind. And without any expectation, fats begins to move his head and eyelids around without anybody laying a single finger on it.

Anthony Hopkins actually learned ventrolizum (I know it's spelled wrong,sorry), to play this part and was nominated for a Best Actor Academy Award in 1978. He is an amazing actor
