@BillyCauseyjr I really enjoyed it for some reason. I guess I liked the ability to be just as big of an ***hole to the NPC's in the game as you are in GTA, but without the killing. I like harassing random people on the streets. The story mode was pretty short though, but the aiming and fighting systems were a lot better than GTA's.
personally i own the ps2 and the xbox version, and the xbox looks WAY better, and the framerate is more bearable, and ive had less crashes on the xbox version(infact i dont think ive had any)

I own LA, and it's REALLY good, as a matter of fact, I think better, in all honesty. I own it for the PS2, and don't OWN a PS2, currently, but, I played it not that long ago, and I personally think it's better.
Played this game about 4 years ago roughly when it was released, loved it then. Recently downloaded it for PC and still love it. I have both LA and NYC but I prefer NYC due to the larger disposal of weapons you can have.
lmao I love this game. I was driving in central park in a red sports car and crashed into a pond, then for some reason I was driving on the bottom of the pond for a while with all this grey shit flying around. I had an afro when I drove into it, and when I got out my hair had fallen off somehow.

The allstar cast on this game was amazing..Most I seen in any game..Christopher Walken,Ice tea,Laurence Fishburne,girl from law and order Mariska Hargitay,beetle juice,Micky Rourke,Traci lords,reman and a shit load of others.

@SONGOKU02 My PS2 version crashes after certain cutscenes, sometimes the bosses won't take damage, and ther are times where cars get stuck inside each other during a crash and you can't get out. I have never had any of those problems with the xbox version, the only problme/glitch I had was that one time on goin into an apartment to solve a domestic voilence call the textures refused to load in.
@BillyCauseyjr did you use cheats on the ps2 version? Dude.. really in every version, are the same glichtes. One think: Safe everytime and load sometimes only the game new. Often it works.

I have this game for ps2, and yeah a few glitches but it is quite possibly one of the best shooter/adventure games i have ever played on, well worth the price. Seriously recommended.
True Crime Streets of LA was.. meh. New York City on the other hand had potential, but failed because of it's enormous amount of bugs and glitches... the controls weren't great ether.
It means when something in the game is kinda broken. Ever been playing a game and it has just froze up? Characters floating in the air, or stuck in a wall? Textures, eg, the sides of buildings, the grpahics basically, flickering, going the wrong colour, strange things happening in game, but not in a good way. The list goes on. PC games are terrible for it, most never work properly when first released.

well I can't argue you're opinion but I found the game's story was intertaining and solid. there were several new improvements like the gunplay in GTA4 was the best of the series, the cover system was a much needed mechanic. and Nikko didn't hack the computer he just used it, many police cars have that these days so how is that not realistic. and how will videogames die the day they get to realistic?? if anything they'll spill over into new markets like medicine and military training.

An italian, a black guy and an immigrant, what part of that is the same. Vice City was a definite rip off of Scarface but the story was amazing. San Andreas reminded me of four brothers but still it was a very good story. Sure they take things from pop culture, what games don't. and the story is much complicated then just a criminal running a muck, you should pay attention next time. whether something is good or not is completely up to people's opinions, thats why the majority is what matters.

I have always found it was full enough but I like that idea of two guys with different stories crossing over. but then again the way they have been doing the story up until now has been successful so I dont know if they will try that soon, i mean look what happen to Halo 2.

It wasn't horrible, but it certainly wasn't as fun as True Crime:SoLA. I just hated how broken the story was and how the NPC's kept up that ridiculous level of random cussing. I also didn't like those end of mission sessions where you beat answers out of people; they never added a little variety to it.

This is one of my favorite games. It got totally trashed by critics just because it wasnt graphicly nice and had quite a few glitchy problems. But beyond that, it was really a really, really cool game...
The PS2 version has it's fair share of bugs, and I do suggest saving quite often, but most of the time it works as it should. Yes, there is the occasional hiccup, but overall it works fine the majority of the time.
streets of la when it came out was so different but original and i liked it for its unique features like that size of the map, sneeking modes, combat modes, trainign modes, this game had even more unique features, and is well throurght out
Well technically it wasn't wrapped, but the case was still shiny and the disc looked untouched. I vaguely remember playing it and hating it because of the driving. Have no idea how it ended up in a random box. Now that I'm giving it a second try however, I agree with 2dgamer. It has a bunch of great points about it that GTA lacks. And the issues aren't a big deal at all. Plus, this is the only game I've ever seen that has a working debug mode.
I disagree that this is a gem. They botched it too bad. The driving is the most glitchy shit ever, and the story is pretty predictable. The missions have no real uniqueness and the controls flat out suck balls. The only thing it has going for it is the cop element, and even that gets stale pretty quick.
Ah yes, I bought this game on impulse for about 15 dollars years ago, and it was so much fun. I spent hours just walking up to random pedestrians, searching them, and over half the time they were carrying drugs or weapons. Loved it when they fought back, led to many random street brawls.
I don't reccomend it for the gamecube because it was glitchy as HELL when I played it, but the overall gameplay was awewsome. I loved how you had multiple fighting stiles :D

Love this game.
I used to play it about 4 years ago and loved the game completed NYC and did alot of LA.
If comparing both I'd say I prefer....new york city.
Why? One simple reason. You get to have guns that you keep other than just one gun you upgrade every bonus mission.
Both are fun, but overall...New york city beats it.

@BillyCauseyjr dude.. i have all of them. There all the same. Only different, the xbox version have better grafics. The Gamecube version lags much. But the Debug mode works the best in the xbox version.. How you come to this dumb thoughts? There all the same in this standpoint of the bugs.. or better, glitches.

@SONGOKU02 My PS2 version crashes after certain cutscenes, sometimes the bosses won't take damage, and ther are times where cars get stuck inside each other during a crash and you can't get out. I have never had any of those problems with the xbox version, the only problme/glitch I had was that one time on goin into an apartment to solve a domestic voilence call the textures refused to load in.

I have this game for ps2, and yeah a few glitches but it is quite possibly one of the best shooter/adventure games i have ever played on, well worth the price. Seriously recommended.

It means when something in the game is kinda broken. Ever been playing a game and it has just froze up? Characters floating in the air, or stuck in a wall? Textures, eg, the sides of buildings, the grpahics basically, flickering, going the wrong colour, strange things happening in game, but not in a good way. The list goes on. PC games are terrible for it, most never work properly when first released.

And I could tell you why all five of those so-called amazing games are watered down less fun versions of previous games released. I have a 360, and a PS3, and am thoroughly not impressed with this gen. In fact this gen of gaming is really starting to suck ass. Instead of innovating, they're just releasing prettier versions of the games we played last gen, and in the previous gens before.
As for TC and GTA, they have similar mechanics, not the same mechanics. TC put's it's own spin on the genre

well I can't argue you're opinion but I found the game's story was intertaining and solid. there were several new improvements like the gunplay in GTA4 was the best of the series, the cover system was a much needed mechanic. and Nikko didn't hack the computer he just used it, many police cars have that these days so how is that not realistic. and how will videogames die the day they get to realistic?? if anything they'll spill over into new markets like medicine and military training.

and like my comment before "the best" borrows from other games, and they borrow from that....and know what? it doesnt even do it "better" every time. driver parallel lines had a way better cop system than gta had and still has....gtas system has not changed, it added a circle radious...other than that its pretty much the same.

An italian, a black guy and an immigrant, what part of that is the same. Vice City was a definite rip off of Scarface but the story was amazing. San Andreas reminded me of four brothers but still it was a very good story. Sure they take things from pop culture, what games don't. and the story is much complicated then just a criminal running a muck, you should pay attention next time. whether something is good or not is completely up to people's opinions, thats why the majority is what matters.

It wasn't horrible, but it certainly wasn't as fun as True Crime:SoLA. I just hated how broken the story was and how the NPC's kept up that ridiculous level of random cussing. I also didn't like those end of mission sessions where you beat answers out of people; they never added a little variety to it.

Its almost impossible to get a decent frame-rate,hit dettection is bad,bugs make you go out of the map and die or simply crash the game.
I enjoyed it though,when it rarely worked.
If it hasn't so many bugs it would be a great game.

The PS2 version has it's fair share of bugs, and I do suggest saving quite often, but most of the time it works as it should. Yes, there is the occasional hiccup, but overall it works fine the majority of the time.

Well technically it wasn't wrapped, but the case was still shiny and the disc looked untouched. I vaguely remember playing it and hating it because of the driving. Have no idea how it ended up in a random box. Now that I'm giving it a second try however, I agree with 2dgamer. It has a bunch of great points about it that GTA lacks. And the issues aren't a big deal at all. Plus, this is the only game I've ever seen that has a working debug mode.

I disagree that this is a gem. They botched it too bad. The driving is the most glitchy shit ever, and the story is pretty predictable. The missions have no real uniqueness and the controls flat out suck balls. The only thing it has going for it is the cop element, and even that gets stale pretty quick.

Ah yes, I bought this game on impulse for about 15 dollars years ago, and it was so much fun. I spent hours just walking up to random pedestrians, searching them, and over half the time they were carrying drugs or weapons. Loved it when they fought back, led to many random street brawls.
Also loved the precision aiming

All three versions are glitchy. That's why I save a lot in the game. Most times it moves pretty smoothly, but when it glitches, it glitches good.
It's just not as bad as the reviews over-dramatized it to be.
