German women are not encouraged to go to countries where this is not possible, like in France. Marrying a French man most probably will have the German woman being lost for the German cause. Ive seen foreigners trying to contact me being tortured away by the German BND. Me and my brother had been "analyzed" by different foreign services well before we knew, we were under surveillance. But this only happened outside Germany. Nobody, not even the CIA or the KGB is operating in Germany without official approval of the German state.

But one question did come to mind, If as I am assuming the German woman will move to UK, Why did she not travel to UK, with her BIRTH Certificate, and other relevant documents and GET MARRIED IN UK? I am assuming that she would eventually become a UK citizen?

I'm an American that is married to a German. I expected the authorities to be a lot more rigorous with their permissions to reside in Germany. Especially if one intends to marry a German. There was no test whatsoever to make sure that I had some common knowledge of Germany or their language. I asked them this in German, "Don't you want me to make a test? Should I speak German or something?" She replied in ENGLISH! Anyone could get in. No green card applications here. I took it very seriously.

Legally, you would have been required to prove that you have a language proficiency of at least B1 - in that case you would have been required to take part in some integration courses. If you got B2 or better, they may decide you do not need that.

Well I just guess that the Standesamt will not accept a birth certificate younger that 6 months from - caution! Bad word - foreigners. It's true that in Germany BC's are valid from birth until death but as the German registry has no direct access to British registry data it may be that it requires the BC of the Brit to be less than 6 months old.

As a Frenchman, I got married in China. My wife and I faced plenty of problems to complete the whole marriage process. Other kinds of problems. We had to pay a lot for any given piece of paperwork. Just like getting married in Germany.

But one question did come to mind, If as I am assuming the German woman will move to UK, Why did she not travel to UK, with her BIRTH Certificate, and other relevant documents and GET MARRIED IN UK? I am assuming that she would eventually become a UK citizen?

The six month rule is that the "Document itself" must have been issued within the last six months. So the Birth Certificate that you have in your files from years ago is not valid. I hear alot of folks go to Denmark to get married. Anyone know about that?

I'm an American that is married to a German. I expected the authorities to be a lot more rigorous with their permissions to reside in Germany. Especially if one intends to marry a German. There was no test whatsoever to make sure that I had some common knowledge of Germany or their language. I asked them this in German, "Don't you want me to make a test? Should I speak German or something?" She replied in ENGLISH! Anyone could get in. No green card applications here. I took it very seriously.

@sabrinac1 Well, you got lucky then meeting a misinformed (or kind) civil servant. Legally, you would have been required to prove that you have a language proficiency of at least B1 - in that case you would have been required to take part in some integration courses. If you got B2 or better, they may decide you do not need that.

@Wishmaster50000 Actually, that's completely untrue. There are very strict immigration laws in Germany, and they are enforced. They're not as obviously enforced as they are in some other countries, but they are enforced.

It may not be exactly true, but the Standesamt will not accept a birth certificate that's more than 6 months old.

Well I just guess that the Standesamt will not accept a birth certificate younger that 6 months from - caution! Bad word - foreigners. It's true that in Germany BC's are valid from birth until death but as the German registry has no direct access to British registry data it may be that it requires the BC of the Brit to be less than 6 months old.
