My sister wrote this essay and I must say I was hesitant to watch your video after seeing the other video. My parents would have been so proud to show this video because you captured the soul and heart of the essay. Thank you for showing the "other" creative side to this essay. Thanks for that little lesson in the impact of history on the formation of a human spirit. I lived through those times, not an active participant in the black struggle, but cheering the activists on from my distant white community, wondering why anybody had to go through all of that to have what should have been theirs to begin with. Learn this history people. See what can be done with that sort of energy. We may be hearing the same call again soon, and we will need an example to live by.

This is a fantastic essay, and I was tremendously impressed by it the first time I heard it. Though the essay was clearly used by permission, I see a number of photographs, which are copyrighted that I don't believe you got permission from the owners of those images. Is it okay to steal from photographers but not musicians? Seriously, you have no right to use these images. You have stolen those images. You say copyright is copyright, yet you aren't observing it yourself.

First of all thanks for watching, secondly I have not stolen anything contained in this video, I don't have to get permission for royalty free material, that is public domain, secondly I am not gaining anything from this video(monetizing.

So go back, and try again, because I know what to do and not do, unlike many others that feel like other peoples property should be free to use.

Monetizing or not, as you said before "stealing is stealing." I am not going to take the time to check up on every image in your video, because I do believe in fair use. You, however, told me before "stealing is stealing." I guarantee not every one of the images in this video are "public domain." I agree that this falls under "fair use." I do not agree that these images are not copyrighted.

Also publicly submitted google images from google are free to use, you just have read the fine print and make sure they are free to use, some just ask that you use citations and give credit for the photos you use.

Historical documents are generally available for non-profit usage. That's what these images are. This is history that needs to be learned. I do not think it any great stretch that the photographers were thinking, at the time, as much about their place in the fabric of history than in the machineries of commerce.

I really liked this video. Who did it. I am a white mother of an afro-american daughter. I have her pic up on my profile. I had to raise her in a white world in CA. I had to flee from the South where she would of been treated like a 2nd class citizen and when I had her so was I. Now her black identity is lost, a lot like what happened to Obama until he went to Chicago. I do not know how to email these videos off of Youtube.
