Kim,
You make soft boiled eggs like my Italian Mother did -- and it just doesn't work!
You can't put them in when the water is cold -- just too inconsistent.
Here is the "American Way" (also known as the "Right Way")..........
You get the water boiling first. Then you 'temper' the egg by just passing
it under some hot water from the sink. If you just drop it cold, the shell might
crack a little.
When you put the egg in the boiling water you set your timer for three minutes.
Perfect!
