I listen to this again and again. Great rendering of Sindhu bhairavi. Sorry to see that people think that this is for untrained ears. How does any one know whose ears are trained and whose are not?
What is the point of a raga that no one can enjoy and feel like this. There is a saying, no one appreciates the original thing. We all like the duplicate version. I like what Rajesh does. Turning a normal raga into a piece where people from less music background can appreciate.
Overproduced piece of garbage. Here is a good example of how to take a lovely song, a lovely raaga, and completely torture it. No matter what all these jokers do, they can neither been a Veena Gayatri or a Illayaraja. Do one, and do it well. But, a disease this advanced can never be cured. What is scary is that there a market for this nonsense.
@wehrwolf1943 Chandrasekara is one of the names for Shiva. Chandra means moon. He wears the moon on his head. Chandra sekara means one who wears the moon on his head. They are singing Hara Hara Shankara, Jaya Jaya Shankara - which is praising Shankara (Shiva). Jaya means victory. That is not a part of the original song but Vaidya has included it to put his stamp on the song.
He laughs because he feels the music that he is playing and it pleases him, and if it brings enjoyment to him and his fellow musicians then it is plenty worthwhile, not to mention anyone else whose ears have been graced by this music (including myself). Music isn't about decency or conformity, its about passion and creativity, two things that you obviously don't understand.
He is just a great veena player.....just playing in the temple with lot of religious marks on your body doesnt make anyone a good man/ player.
Besides the only good that came out of ANY religion is the MUSIC........feel it and enjoy it.....Rajesh vaidhya is giving us that pleasure.....He is one of the best out there after chittibabu....
To tell you not everyone can play the Veena , because as you said the UNcomfortable hand posture, you need to also have long fingers and belive me it's not easy.! I guess you kind of have to be gifted and start early!. If not it gets hard!
this is in reponse to 'auvs': I have seen almost all of rajesh vaidhya's videos on youtube. firstly i would just like to say what an amazing veena artiste he is. the flow, clarity and speed he has achieved on the veena is truly amazing.
I don't understand what u mean by 'there is no bhakti' in his playing. Just because he has added a few modern/western instruments to these songs doesn't make it lose the bhakti factor.
Well said. The hairstyle and movements of head are just to tell the younger generation that he is just one of their ilk. A classical musician until recently was one from 'Gurukulam' generation, sporting a tuft, putting a lot of religious marks on foreheads [the marks are put even now, mostly in a temple concert],wearing a Veshti[a long cotton/silk cloth wound round from waist to toe].BHAKTI radiated by the the musician are felt by individual listeners sitting amidst a rapt audience.

Musical skill is ok. But where is the Bhakthi part of lyric playing. It looks like more of a cinema setting. No real Bhakthi Bhavana in none of their faces.
His skill may be good, but his mannerisms and expressions while palying the divine lyric are totally obnoxious.
Nah, I agree with auvs... bhakti and humility - he has none. For him, it's all about Rajhesh. Makes him look like a child next to players Jayanthi Kumaresh.
Funny you assume the comment was made out of jealousy. I don't think it crosses Kumaresh's mind whether she's better than Vaidhya. Silly of me to compare them anyway. Who am I to judge such skilled players?
dis guy is da BOMB...he played for mi cousins wedding recpetion in india...hez bloody awesome...great 2 watch...nd i luv the way he plays with soo much passion and feeling...nd u can see how much he loves and enjoys playin his veena!

Too much hoopla. Good music and a great song need not be spoilt by distracting gimmicks!

Why that veena player is giggling? He should have a nice military cut.
However great they may be, if they don't behave decently or not humble their talent is like 'rain on sea' - a waste!

@un4getablefriend This can only been done not actually having seen the video.

The acting even gives me a this-is-playback-suspicion.
The music is just wonderful though

Sorry don't like the harmony bit.
Sounds a bit naff. Leave the harmony bit for western instruments, that is what they were designed for. The classical is very nice.
